Ok after a day, i finally realized that this movie is amazing. If you guys can recall i said i hated it. Now, well... i don't.

Here is my opinion on the movie.

***SPOILERS**

The first part, with all the hanging, was actually quite distirbing. I did find it relevant though. It set the whole movie. I didn't like the little kid being hung, that was unecessary. It was very powerful when all the pirates were singing though.
Keira Knightley has a very good voice! I thought that whole first opening scene was well done, it got me totally intrested. Then they went in to meet the other Pirate Lord and I knew from the beginning that Will was caught. I expected him to be in the bath thingy since it was in the trailer. I like how Lizzy squealed though, that was appropriate. (btw, what was he going to kill Will with??) The whole 'not our guy, then who is he?' was very...er... predictable. The fight scene was pretty awesome, i like the from-the-ground sword thing, that was pretty cool. (OMG Ragetti and Pintel= HILARIOUS)
So Will makes his little deal and they get a boat. I thought the whole mainiac Barbossa was perfect for the movie. I love Barbossa.

Now, Jack. OMG weird right? All the multiple Jacks, and what is up with the peanuts?? And him licking stuff?? I liked how he fainted though, that was fun. Oh and the crabs, amazingly awesome. They are so cute i want one. I thought the whole boat on the sand thing was amazing special effects.

Barbossa and his crew go over the world, pretty neat. and they shipwreck on the 'island' Jack comes and things they are not real and then pick the men he is not mad at. (i was laughing pretty hard at this part). So then he says his '4 of you have tried to kill me, 1 has succeeded' quote and they are on their way. (I'm loving the movie at this point) So they get lost and are trying to figure out how to get back. Hmm. the captain fight... tee hee. Then Jack solves how to do it and starts to tip the boat. I thought this was very clever of the movie because if provided a huge comedy relief. OMG, my favorite part, the whole gun scene and then 'whoops wet gun powder!' ROFL

I think so far this has been one of the darker movies. We know that the pirate race is dying out and the EITC is behind it. The EITC realizes that the pirate lords are meeting and are trying to stop it=one way...war.

So on and so on goes the movie until we realize that Tia Dalma is Davy Jones's lover and Cycolopses (SP?) I thought her growing into this huge giant was incredibly lame. Erm, but i loved that Elizabeth turned into the 'Brothern King' That was kinda cool. That whole scene was well done. So they go off to war and realize they are severely outnumbered. They meet and realize Will was behind all of it and exchange Will for Jack. They go and there is the whole proposal scene and they get married. I was soo excited about this because being a huge Lizzy/Will shipper i was dying to see that scene.

and then.... WILL DIES. I nearly cried. HE COULDN'T have died! And then 'Will' stabs the heart and his own heart is ripped out and he falls into the whirlpool (going back a bit, i loved that Barbossa was laughing when he took them into whirlpool- am a big Barbossa fan). Ok and then lo and behold, Will and the Flying Dutchmen emerge (Will looking Incredibly HOTT with his nice long scar    ) and then will and elizabeth go to shore...and well yeah (will still hott). Then we find out that there is another plot line emerging (possible 4th movie??) The Fountain of Youth.

AND Willabeth has a SON! OMG. But i still hate that he can only see them every 10 years! ERGH! So maddening!

That was more of a summary of the movie but yeah, i outlined my favorite parts.

Some questions:

did i miss it during the movie? I saw you guys were saying that Barbossa told Chow Fan?? or what ever his name is that Elizabeth was Cylopses?

And why can't Elizabeth go with Will on the Flying Dutchman?

AND WHY OH WHY did Norrington have to die???

Also was anyone confused for like more than half the movie?

Tim4x-Hullo!

@ Amoniel-I'm tired so i didn't read your entire post but on your 2nd ?, my mom answered it for me earlier.

It's b/c she is not dead. Will and everyone else is dead, so they can go underwater on the ship and fight and take care of souls and such, but she is still living, therefore she cannot go with him.

@ Monty - Duuude....that is scary man....

My brother bought the CD after we saw it... I have listened to it so many times... it's brillaint.

*sniff* He died for no reason. Totally stupid death. I hate the writers for that. For all eternity. :disgust:

What's scary? My love for Mr. Richards? XD I've been WAITING very impatiently to see him in POTC since Johnny was talking about him as an influence for him in COTBP. :P I thought Keith was just...the best. Obviously. And I don't think I'll stop fawning over his performance any time soon. :P The guitar thing was just too cool man. It's going to be a bit odd from now on, staring at my Rolling Stones posters...at him...with the skull ring...and I won't be able to get his character out of my mind. :P TOTALLY rocks.

And, I've been out to try and find the soundtrack...and who would've known that all the places I've been are out?! :P How sad. Ha ha ha!

You think he died for no reason? I didn't see it that way. I was so proud of him at that moment--except for me hating him so much for just having to be such a damn hero. :P Up until the end, I pretty much despised Bootstrap. He just seemed old and senile and evil ... too much like Dumbledore.
But, it was the second and last time the POTC movies have nearly brought me to tears. The first being the evil, dirty deed Ms. Swan/Turner did to Jack at the end of DMC. But this was worse.
I knew about Will, so, it didn't affect me as much. ALTHOUGH, the look on Jack's face when it happened nearly killed me. He just looked so...heartbroken. You know? *sigh*

Emo Jack...it's hot, but utterly depressing and just makes me want to run and give him a hug.

But, it's weird. I walked out of this film debating whether or not it was better than COTBP. Kind of like LOTR. XD In my opinion, the first of a trilogy is always the best. But...like ROTK, this is giving COTBP a run for it's money. Maybe they can tie. GAH. It was just SOOO brilliantly written. I mean, okay...hard to explain. It just didn't seem like a typical funny, action-packed Disney movie. It ACTUALLY had depth. :P

As for the crabs...duuuude. :swoon: THEY rocked. :P I didn't think they were going to eat him...I just thought they were going to follow him. So, when they started moving the boat, I was SO happy! :D And then the fact that he was standing on the mast thing like in the first movie...:swoon:

And you know what?! I seriously think Elizabeth should've hugged Jack at the end. But, I like how Jack fended her off. XD

I'm gonna cry again. Guys, I just bawled my eyes out in the middle of a movie theater, no joke - but this movie was absolutely one of the most enjoyable things I've ever seen in my entire life! My friends were giving me anxious looks near the end when my sniffles escalated to more than sniffles, but it was way, way more than I ever hoped for and I'm completely satisfied.

That's right. Completely.

Despite the fact that I burst into tears the second Will got stabbed and didn't stop until the end, I had SUCH a good time. The ending was so lovely and bittersweet and....wow. I felt so much more satisfied than I did at the end of CotBP. Eternal love, even if you can only see each other once every ten years - THAT's true, eternal love.

I really don't think I have any criticisms to make. I shall sleep well tonight in the knowledge that boy, did I EVER get my W/E ending!

That's it EXACTLY. :P That completely and totally sums up how I feel. *sigh* Eternal love; true love. Such a perfect love story.

omg omg omg omg!!! I saw it tonight and I was so like WOW! I saw it with my two firends and we were mesmerized by it. The best scenes? The fight scenes esp. with the Whirl Pool, Jack in Davy Jones Locker, and the scene between Davy and Tia Dalma. I thought the ending was what?! But I did some research and I found there might be a 4th one...there has to be a fourth one, don't you think those who saw the movie?

@ Timx4 - I hope you don't mean who I think you mean when you're on about someone dying.

----------------------------
@ Pirates - Actually Teague did nothing for me. I was disappointed with the cameo. I think it may have been slightly over-blown my the media and Johnny.

--------------------------------
@ Meldawen - You're a willabeth shipper and you liked the ending? I don't ship them, and I hated it. :-(

----------------------------------
@ Aramel - Oh, you poor thing! They should have given you free POTC posters and all sorts of goodies.

----------------------------------
@ Timx4 - :disgust: To each his own... but that makes me sad that someone could be happy that my husband has been taken from me.

------------------------------------
@ Amoniel - Yes, Barbossa did mislead Sao Feng into believeing Elizabeth was Calypso. I'm presuming where he has to go to ferry the bodies, only the dead or the peaopl in charge of this task an go. I'm not really sure though. You'd have to ask the jerky writers that. No-one will ever convince me that he died for a reason. And in answer to your last question: yes.

--------------------------------
@ Monty - Yes, that does rather scare me.... then again I think I've got a "thing" for Barbossa so who am I to talk? :P

Yep, he died for no reason in my eyes. He had already made sure that Elizabeth was safe, so why didn't he join her where he knew he really belonged? It was stupid to kill him.... his death didn't save anyone, as he had already done that. If he had died in battle, even the end battle, that would have been more fitting. Why he got the most pointless and yet pretty horrifc death I don't know.

Yes, that's what I've heard too. Personally, I'm worried that the story would deteriorate with more after the first three. I'm perfectly happy leaving it where AWE left off. As much as I'm obsessed with PotC, I prefer "quality over quantity", as it were. ;) :P The ending for AWE was a good ending point.

^^Indeed. I'm very satisfied with this ending. VERY good. 3 is good. 4 is not. :P Except when it's Star Wars. :P But those came in threes. So, see?! 3 is good.

I just realized the significance of the song from the opening scene when I stumbled over the lyrics now. The scene was so well made and really set the tone for the movie... a lot darker tone than the other two. And for some reason I couldn't help be reminded of a James Bond movie when they visit Sao Feng in Singapore!!

The king and his men
stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her bones
The seas be ours and by the powers
Where we will well roam

Yo, ho, haul together
hoist the colors high
heave ho, thieves and beggars
never say we die

Some men have died and some are alive
And others sail on the sea
with the keys to the cage
and the Devil to pay we lay to Fiddler's Green

The bell has been raised
from it's watery grave
do you hear it's sepulchral tone
We are a call to all, pay head the squall
and turn your sail toward home

^Thank you so much for posting those. I was planning on looking them up later, but now I don't have to. I was also hoping I could find a video of it on the internet to listen to it again, but no luck with that so far. I really liked the song too. I was humming it the whole way home from the theater. And I agree that it did set the tone nicely for the movie.

Speaking of which though, that wasn't Keira Knightley singing, right? It can't have been. It didn't sound a thing like her. But someone was trying to convinve me that it was her, so I just want to make sure I'm right. You never know.
