I just realized the significance of the song from the opening scene when I stumbled over the lyrics now. The scene was so well made and really set the tone for the movie... a lot darker tone than the other two. And for some reason I couldn't help be reminded of a James Bond movie when they visit Sao Feng in Singapore!!

The king and his men
stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her bones
The seas be ours and by the powers
Where we will well roam

Yo, ho, haul together
hoist the colors high
heave ho, thieves and beggars
never say we die

Some men have died and some are alive
And others sail on the sea
with the keys to the cage
and the Devil to pay we lay to Fiddler's Green

The bell has been raised
from it's watery grave
do you hear it's sepulchral tone
We are a call to all, pay head the squall
and turn your sail toward home

Thanks for that Ea. I've got the soundtrack and I've listened to that song countless times, but I still couldn't figure out what was being said. :P Sounds like they are talking about Calypso in parts.

Hmm.... I've heard that there is going to be a 4th one, it's just a matter of who wants to do it and whose available. Judging by the (awful) ending, it could go either way - a Jack and Barbossa film (YAY) or one with them all in (not yay.... there is a sproglett). Personally I want to see a film with just Barbossa and Jack. Either before COTBP or after AWE. That would be awesome.

*SPOILERS*

Ok, Darky shall posteth her review. Saw it all last night so i'm a little rusty, but i might go see it again with a friend today.

I haven't had warm fuzzies like this since Return of the King came out. Dead Man's Chest wasn't even this good. It was stunning, heart wrenching, visually spectacular, funny, intriguing, fast paced, exciting... absoloutely an amazing ride. Beyond that. Not a stale performance from any of the characters.

The CGI was amazing, very few blips or goof ups. So happy to see the emotion and beauty that the animators conveyed through the CGI.

Saddening yes, I was heartbroken to find the Kraken dead on the beach(although it has gorgeous eyes), to watch a mislead and confused Bootstrap stab our dear Norrington, also very saddened by the loss of Sao Feng. And I was so close to tears at Davy's loss. I'm actually suprised I didn't cry, Davy has to be my favorite character(with Jack in a very close second), ahh. More about Davy in my personal Character reviews.

Very excited at have the gang back on the big screen, its been far too long. Very nice to see the Pearl, Dutchman and the Hai Peng on the open ocean. Its also very nice to see Barbossa back in buisness.

I was riveted by the fast paced back stabbing, dobule crossing, and pact making. Not at all confusing for me, it was very nice to see the characters getting their hands dirty, doing what they need to do. One of my favorite parts was watching Will and Buckett drinking tea while Davy was in the room. Cracked me up.

Some very interesting connections were made. The Humour was fresh and fun, some classic lines were said i'm sure. Its great to see that Ted and Terry haven't lost their touch.

Very pleased with the Pirate Lords, I laughed so hard when the one Lord spoke and had the high squakey "sucking helium' voice. Seeing Teague(Keith Richards) was very nice, he did a good job, which suprised me.
INDIVIDUAL CHARACTER REVIEWS
Jack: Oh my god. Soooo amazing. He was so fabulous and riveting. There are very few words to describe his awesomeness. His many shades of Jack was inventive if not slightly creepy to watch. The "rock" following him in the Locker was cute. So nice to see him with the Pearl again at least for a short while. JD did a very nice job, 5 stars out of 5.

Will: No stale acting here, *rubs it in face of everyone that thinks Orlando is a two dimensional actor*. Glad to see that he was coming into his own. Very handsome and some very nice swordmanship. Interesting to see that he was turned into the Captain of the Flying Dutchman. Will Turner's Locker doesn't exactly have the same ring to it. But i did like the marriage scene, inventive. 4 1/2 Stars out of 5.

Elizabeth: Beautiful. She really is improving as an actress. Nice to see her kicking some serioud pirate booty. Her speech on the ship, trying to rally the pirates reminded me strongly of Aragorn's speech at the Black Gate. Her costumes were very nice and its great to see the little Willabeth runnning around. She did seem kind of not sad enough at her father's death, and at Norringtons. She didn't show any emotion, it was weird. 4 Stars out of 5.

Davy: And now we come to Darky's favorite character. What a tortured, heartbreaking character. When he cried, I burst into tears, it was so touching. Pushed around, stabbed, attacked, taken from his love, lost his pet, his ship basically taken from him, what else could go wrong? Oh yeah, he died! My poor tortured squidy octopus man. My favorite line of his was "My heart will always belong to you." *starts crying* 6 Stars out of 5.

Norrington: Aww, i'm going to be a sob story by the end of this review. Another poor tortured soul, he tried so hard to do things right, and he ends up getting killed. Whats a man to do anymore. Very saddened at his death, now JF is married to a ghost. Someone's in need of cookies. *hands JF a bag of cookies*. He didn't really have a part anymore. Loose baggage, but very nice looking loose baggage. I didn't want him to die, but i knew he probably would. 5 out of 5 Stars.

Buckett: Ha! He finally got what he deserved. Silly littly annoying man.Reap the rewards of your actions. Doing that to my poor Davy... rawr! But Tom Hollander did do an amazing job. Very pleased with the quality of acting. His death scene was very powerful and moving to watch. 5 Stars out of 5.

Barbossa: Ahh, good old Hector. *laughs* Very nice to see him again. Him and Jack interacted very well together. Nice to watch for sure. His character is so rich and multilayered1 Wonderful stuff to watch. I love his and Jack's line about Barbossa's ship "hiding" behind the Pearl. 5 out of 5 Stars.

Pirate lords: Great group of actors and actress, they interacted exactly how i imagined they would. It was nice to see each individual character come through. The flags were a nice, individual touch. 5 Out of 5 Stars.

Misc Crew: Everyone played thier parts very well. The roles were the same but with some added pizazz. They were all funny and serious at the same times. Pat on the back for all the actors. A little too much at some times, the interactions were a tad odd. 4 Out of 5 Stars.

I have the soundtrack stuck in my head, its tied for my fave out of the three with DMC. This soundtrack was a lot more grand and expansive, but had some nice personal touches. I would of like to of heard some more of the familiar themes, but once I get my hands on the soundtrack i'm sure i'll pick them out eventually. Very nice job overall.

Gore really out did himself. This is definately going in the catagorey of "Sweeping, expansive, passionate, emotional" movies. A very different class than CotBP or even DMC. It's joining the LotR movies.

*sobs* Thank ye Darky. *sobs*

I'm glad ye liked it so much. I have to pretty much agree with you on all your characters comments. I think though Elizabeth was pretty grief stricken when she knew her dad was dead.... but after that... no real grief. But this is the heartless wench who must have known Norrie was dead and failed to mention his existance ever again. *snorts* No-one mentioned him ever again.

Oh, I loved the bit when Davy cried... I was.... awwww.... more so then the marriage. :teehee: Seriously I wasn't watching those two... I was watching my Babby. :D

For me, Barbossa and Jack really made the film. They were both really good together, but at the same time Barbossa had the seriousness to get the job done and he knew what he was doing. Jack was just.... Jack.

Aww, *huggles* your welcome.

How could she not mention James ever again? He's much more.... i dont know, i was going to say noble, but he kind of isnt... well, hes nobler than Will was in this movie. And kinder to her, heck he let her and her crew get away! You don't see Will doing that. He was so kind to her, and he went after her in CotBP, argh! Now shes making me angry!!

I know! Everyone calls Davy this heartless man(well... yeah he is heartless, literally), but he still feels all this pain and suffering. And i think it served Will right when Davy stabbed him. No one in the theater gasped or started crying. I sort of chuckled.

Jack was Jack. When all we saw was his nose, it was really weird. And the peanut! Barbossa was amazing, really really amazing. I think i might be turning into a Babby fangirl....

And the shivering monkey made me aww, it was so cute and little and adorable...

Gah, as I've said before. If I was going to be really, really petty. You can almost trace Norries death back to Will and Elizabeth.... if she had just said yes.... he's still be alive. I wrote a good ol' rant about Norrie's death about 5 pages ago. I'll have to re-post it. :teehee:

Davy is teh Dude. I really like him. And of course he still feels pain! Sadness, maybe even regret. I was so sad when he just fell out of the boat... and that was it....I was really hoping we would see him and Calypso together as a vision or something. I really want to know what happened to them.

Oh, god yes! I forgot about the nose bit - I think I was thinking "what the?!!". Jack was really on form, so many great lines and scenes. And I think that the writers (who should be hit with something heavy for killing Norrie) really took advantage of having Jack and Barbossa on the Pearl together. I can make room for another Babby fangirl. :P Babby is my hero.

Aww...little Jack. And it was so funny when Barbossa was talking to him like a baby. :D

You can! It's all her fault! If she had just said yes, there wouldn't be this huge mess! I was all for Norrabeth in CotBP, but noo she has to pick mister funky blacksmith. -_-

Yeah, i got all inspired to draw a whole "Davy meeting Calpyso" thing.... the spark is gone now, but it would of been nice to see them together.

Yeah! *joings Babby fanclub*

That was really great... they interact so well, they are one of the best duos on screen that i have seen in a looooong time.

maybe now the Willabeth shippers will stop harping because Liz kissed Jack...

it isn't fair, Liz got to kiss the three hottest actors in these movies. Jack, Norrington and Will. Of course, Davy is hott, but kissing him would be a little weird, with the whole... tentacle thing going on...

Um, the shameless Will fangirl over here who goes my the moniker of Meldawen burst into hysterical tears when Will got stabbed and felt as though the world was ending. Admittedly, however, this same fangirl sobbed through the last half hour of the movie and got teary-eyed at some scenes in between. Yeesh, I'm getting the sniffles just thinking about it.

Whoa, I would have to violently disagree here, I thought Elizabeth portrayed the emotions very well in those scenes, and when Will got stabbed. She definitely seemed sad over her father's death - it's not like she forgot it, because she was decidedly angry at Norrington later. I loved that scene, it was so sweet when Will held her back...and then she was crying while he hugged her...

*sniffles again*

You guys should have heard me last night, I was playing Third Age at two in the morning and wailing to my - extremely unsympathetic - siblings about how sad it all was. Will's line, about the heart - "It's always been yours...will you keep it safe?" and seeing the huge scar where Bootstrap cut his heart out...wow, that killed me. I thought it was absolutely the saddest thing ever, and I got my W/E ending, but it was so incredibly sad and happy and...

Oh dear. I should really go before I make myself bawl again.

But one more thing! I loved how Jack DID do the right thing! He could totally have been Immortal Captain Jack, but he knew Will would die and...just...wow! And I LOVED his line to Elizabeth about once being quite enough.

@ Darky - XD I'm glad someone is thinking the same things I'm thinking.

Hmm... I may have to start a Babby club..... :teehee:

Oh, without a doubt. They kept me entertained even if I was down in the dumps over Norrie's death. I was just watching a programme about the premiere, and Geoffrey Rush was saying, he always thought of Jack and Barbossa as two old women, squabbling over space and room. Makes sense to me!

Yeah, maybe they will. And maybe they will give Jack a break as he techincally saved Will.

LOL! Especially if he accidentally did what he to Mercer....

@ Melda - Wow... you Willabeth people seem to be very emotional about all this. :P Yes, Elizabeth may have been emotional... but not for the man who truly loved her, and who sacraficed his own feelings and love, so she could be happy with the man she wanted. Norrington is the most noble character in POTC. He often has sacraficed what he has wanted most in the world for the benefit of others.

Not really, it's just me. I cry at everything :P

Not for the man who truly loved her? Um, I would pretty much call Will's love true love. That's not to say Norrington's isn't, but I think Will loves her just as much as Norrington if not more. As I said earlier, the ending totally said 'true love' to me - when you're willing to wait ten years for one night. Just...wow.

No, I meant Norrington did really love Elizabeth, so much in fact, that he gave her up so she could be happy. It was shame that because of this, and much more, that she never spoke of even meeting Norrington, let alone his death.

^agree, yes i'm sure Will has a lot of love for her...

*fuzz moment*

weird, ive just realised how much Will has matured... its strange... like, accepting his fate sort of thing...

now some James Blunt lyrics are coming to me...

all men must accept their fate

sorry bout that, it just hit me over the head.

Hmm.... yes I suppose he has... I'd rather have the Will and Elizabeth from COTBP back though.

On the POTC programme I was watching, Geoffrey Rush was saying how much he enjoyed seeing what they did with the monkey and where they put him in the film. He said the scene where everyone's cold and shivering, the monkey spent ages in make-up having little iciles and ice added to him, and then they sat him on a barrel that vobrated.... so it looked like he was shivering!! How cool is that!?

Yeah, that's how they did it. It's so simple when you think about it. :teehee: I knew the monkey looked too real for it to be CGI, but I didn't have a clue what they did.

Yeah, for sure.

oh, i thought it was so funny, during the parley scene, with Davy, Will and Buckett on one side and Jack, Liz and Barbossa on the other, Davy is standing in a barrell of water. It was so smart and funny! It looked hilarious!

Lol, yes it did. I was so strange seeing him in a bucket of water, and seeing all the other buckets has used. I think he looked either embarrased or bewildered, Jones. I mean, it's not something he is used to.

Which begs the question.... could Will not do that so he could visit Elizabeth every now and then, if for some reason she can't go on his ship?
