Oo, i would love to have a WT party, i'm all for it! I am pretty good on any date, there are a couple in August but i am sure it will be sooner than that.

Hey y'all! Gwen asked if I'd jump in here to discuss the reserving chat issue.

Lar, I don't think the Webmaster would say yes to the entire day, since it wouldn't be fair to the chat regs (just as if we reserved the forum for Narnia fans for an entire day, you see what I mean?). A few hours would be the most plausable. I think we used to have between 3-4 for the movie chats.

The dates would need to be different from this summer's movie chats, too. The movie chats are the 2nd Saturday of each month (July, August, Sept).

As for the time, the Mod team struggles with that too in our MSN meetings, since we have Americans, Europeans, and Aussies. What we've found is some time that's late in the evening in Europe, early in the morning in Australia, and in the afternoon for Americans works best.

These are (fairly) successful time slots we've used. Just suggestions.
The order is: GMT, Australia (NSW), British Columbia (PT), Pennsylvania (ET)

Thanks for clarifying that Ivy. It'd be brilliant if we could have it the whole day, but I see your point. Arwen wouldn't go with it, and yes, there are other people using the chat as well. Don't wanna be hogs now, do we?

Anyhoo.. so the dates you're giving us here are available for our use? I'm still a bit confused.. we're having only one chat for 3-4 hours. Am I right? If so then we'll need to pick a date since these time slots Ivy has given us seem to work.

I'll try to clarify.

I'm saying you could choose any date EXCEPT the 2nd saturday of each month. So the first, 3rd, 4th, plus any other days, would be avail.

Plus, those are just the times we've found work. You could go for other times.

Also, I will have to pass this by Arwen before the 100% okay is given, so choose your dates and times and I'll run them by her I think she'll say yes, since she let the book group have it one year.

Okay -- so would 3 PM be the best time? That seems about mid to late afternoon over here in America. And I think we should just get as many hours as we can, that being 4, correct?

Now we just need to select dates. How about something like June 30th [to give people time to mark their calendars] and August 4th [I'll be gone then, but as long as I can go to one of them, I'm good]

Aye, it'll be about 9.00 when we have the chat. I may not be able to make it til 10 as well, but I'll definitely be there. 30 June and 4 August are perfect. Although I may be gone on August 4.. I can't remember when we scheduled our holiday. But don't worry I'll be there on 30 June.

So, should we post this in the WT home thread? And maybe on this first page of this thread.

First let's make sure Ivy has talked to Arwen about these dates and times so we're sure to have the chat room.

But yeah, I'll definitely post it everywhere I can so people know about it.

EDIT: Question -- to log-in to the chat room, will we all need to know a special password? It seems in the past, however, there has been some trouble with everyone being able to log-in. I know it has never worked for me in the past, so didn't the mods open it up every few minutes or something for people to get in?

We'll need to ask Ivy about that as well. First we need to run the dates by Arwen though. Once she's ok'd everything then we can worry about actually getting in there.

Okay, good news and bad news.

Bad news first. I don't know about you, but I enjoy getting THAT over with. Anyway, the bad news is it looks like no reserved chatroom Sorry about that.

But now for the good news. Go ahead and meet in there anyway. You'll have to share, but it's not that crowded of a place most of the time anyway. It should work okay. It just won't be password-protected. Who knows? You might be able to take a lemon and turn it into lemonade by interesting a chat reg in the forum and the welcoming team!
