Trudy heard talking in Shonnalen's room. she looked at Brendon who was beside her and shrugged. she knocked on the door. shonnalen's room was the only one with a door. " shonna? can brendon and i come in?"

Shonnalen turned at the sound of the knock at her door. She smiled ruefully at Ace and walked over to the door. "Sorry guys... kinda busy." She said and sat back down.

Ace jerked to a standing position before they saw her. She suddenly seemed much more nervous then she had been, and her eyes turned a very vibrant green. "I... uh..." It was too late to make a run for it, they were already there. She back up against the wall to have something to lean against, her mind racing wondering what all they'd heard, and if she would be kicked out or forced to go the the hospital they'd been talking about after this.

Brendon looked at Trudy then back at the door, normally his sister didn't brush anyone off. He didn't bother to knock. Instead he opened the door and stepped through pushing aside the heavy curtin on the inside of the door.

"Shonna I..." He stopped when he saw Ace. "Oh ... I'm sorry." He said loking back at Shonnalen

Ace nodded quickly and stood there waiting for something to happen, anything. Her nerves got the better of her and she decided it was time to get out of there. She edged toward Brendon, wondering if she could make it out the door before he stopped her. Shonnalen now knew that she might hold some valuable information on the virus, and she needed to stay to help, cause she really thought she could, but was too afraid to. If they made her stay, she'd be fine staying... but if they didn't really want her there, then she'd dissappear again.

Sonnalen saw Ace move toward the door, "Oh please don't go ..." She walked over and guided Ace back over to the bed. "What were you saying before we were so rudely interupted?" She said shooting her brother an icy glare.

"I... uhh..." she looked back and forth between the three people. She broke under the stress and turned away from them. When she spoke, her voice was even and quiet. "My parents didn't have the disease. They were studying why before they were murdered. The virus attacks the brain, and when the brain hits a developing point, which happens at age thirty, it begins to shut down and the virus takes over. They were in the process of doing blood reseach to find out why they were immune to it, then this guy found out. He caught all three of us, and tried to inject them with the virus, and -- he killed them." At saying this her voice quivered and she shuttered at the memory. They had died almost instantly. "I don't know how, but I got away, and he's been after me every since, but he's not trying to kill me any more. He's trying to catch me in order to find the cure for the virus, so that he can control everything." She rubbed the back of her neck. "He's caught me three times after the first time when he killed my parents." At this, she went silent, afraid to turn around, to see their faces or know what they were thinking. This was the first time she'd ever told anyone any of this.

Brendon and Shonnalen stayed quiet not knowing what to say.

Finally after a long silence Shonnalen spoke, "You hold the key to the lives around you ... do with it as you think best." She was not about to force this girl to do anything she didn't want to. She looked at Brendon who was nodding in agreement.

Aliana strode past Shonnalen's room where she caught snipets of the conversation. So that explains the second madman. she thought as she walked away. No doubt he will return for the girl. she thought bitterly as she walked down the stairs.

Ace slowly turned around. "I kinda lied to you too... in at least not telling you who I was. My name's Rachel." Her voice grew to a quivering whisper. "I want to help, but... I don't know how... and..." she didn't want to admit to fear, but it was there all the same. She knew there was only one way to do any sort of testing... one rule that applied to it all... a blood test, which would involve a needle. Shonnalen was the oldest here, and whatever she said, Rachel would follow. She would know best. Her eyes turned to her now, silently asking for her to make a decision, tell her what should be done. She was at a lose to know at this point.

Aliana had been right. The second madman she thought of, the same that had been after Ace for years, still stalked around, although he had lost track of her - temporarily of course, he thought to himself. He would find her this time. He would catch her this time. He would develop an antidote to this disease that he was only two years from dying of, then he would kill her and have the only existing antidote. He could rule the world! He paused to ponder this thought. Ruling the world was such a cliche'... but it served his purpose. He pushed the thought out of his mind, and a small peice of cloth caught his attention. Ahhh... he thought. Black... belonging to the girl? He looked ahead to see a huge mall looming in front of him.

Shonnalen smiled kindly and said, "I just want to tell you right now ... I will not force you to do anything you don't wnat to, but if you want to know if you cary the gene your parents had the fastest way to do that is to have a blood test." She saw the look of fear on her face. "I can understand your fear becuase of what happened to your parents."

Ace sighed. "Yeah... if there's any way... to get one... a blood test... I think... I think I could... but I don't know... if there's a place... you know, to test it... it takes a lab... that guy has a lab... the guy that's been after me... but I don't know where it is..." here she trailed off, fatigue overcomming her. Her injuries no longer hurt, because she was numb. Her shoulder was a little hot and swollen from where it had been pulled out of place, and she could feel blood throbbing in her head and leg, but with out pain.

Aliana walked around the first floor of the mall, the sound of her boots echoing throughout the empty floor. I sure hope he does not return soon. she thought to herself. Our defenses are poor and Ace…Ace is injured. Her jaw clenched as the weaknesses of the area flashed through her mind. He would strike soon. she thought. I just hope we will be ready. she added to herself.
