I've heard this pronounced two ways. One souds like "Glow-in" and the other like "coin" except with a "gl" at the beginning.
Thanks in advance.
(Is this the right place to post this? If it's not, then I'm really sorry!)

At first I said it like "coin" with a gl in the beginning, but seeing as there is an accent over the i I think it is technically supposed to be pronounced "Glow-in." But I'm not positive, just going on theory. (Hugo Weaving, I believe, pronounced it "Glow-in" but it sounded like "Gloin" since he kind of ran the syllables together.)

Well, I always thought it was gl-oin, like coin, but I just did a little research, and it tells me different. It is pronounced glo'in, and his brother is pronounce oh'in.
[the accent is over the 'o' by the way]

I'm not sure but I like Glow-in better, for some reason.

Thanks, everyone! I think the "Glo'in" way sounds right.
Fíriel_18190, how do you think Elrond pronounces "Gloin"? I just watched that part, and to me, it really sounds like he's saying it like coin. But maybe he did just slur the syllables together like Ánië Súrion said.
Thanks again!

hmm.. not quite like coin with gl.. I sorta speak it like glow-in actually.. I dunno, for me it sounds as if Elrond says it like glow-in or something like that.

Hmmm... Well in TTT, Aragorn clearly pronounces it Glo'in when he says, "I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn. This is Gimli, son of Glóin, and Legolas, from the Woodland realm."

I've always said it 'coin-gloin' but the glow-in pronounciation makes more sense. I learned something new today!

I always thought it was like that too! But after watching it again, I can tell they are saying it like "Glow-in".
