Also. Wanted to say something about the idea that Will Turner can stay with Elizabeth after the ten years are up. Saw the movie again and think that that theory makes a little more sense now. See, when Davy Jones came back after ten years to be with Calypso she wasn't there. The idea is then, I guess, that if Elizabeth IS faithful to him, the curse will be lifted. There is still the problem though that the dutchman needs a captain. Maybe he can get his Dad to do it?

O.K., I don't want to make a big deal out of Will and the curse here, but where dose it say that after 10 years if the woman is faithful the curse is broken? & dose Will mention coming back to Liz forever when they are on the beach?

It doesn't. But someone said a while back that apparantly a producer or something like that said that that was how they'd planned it out/that's how the curse would work.

I don't believe or not believe because I don't know and at first I thought that idea seemed kind of implausible, but, as I said above, it does actually make some sense.

I think they left it unexplained so that people would be excited (like they were when Jack died) to see what becomes of them if there's a 4th film.

In the book version of AWE the scene where Tia Dalma and Davey are speaking pretty much sums up whether or not the curse is lifted after 10 years. (I believe the book version is an earlier version of the script, with scenes that are not in the actual movie).

Tia Dalma: It's my nature. Maybe I would have been there after the next ten years.

Where are you getting that from though?

That doesn't make sense as Will says something to the effect of "it depends on how good that one day is" when they talk of the curse...

Well, as I've explained a couple times (and don't mind doing do again; it makes me happy) when Will sails back at the very end of the AWE credits, he's coming back for good. Because the way the curse works is that if Elizabeth is faithful during those ten years Will is at sea, it's broken and he can come back to live on land. And of course she was faithful :)

Are you serious?!!! How do you know that? And who is the Captain if Will is not captain? They repeated so many times over that the ship had to have a captain. And that was a good point FRODOFAN made as well. You don't know how badly I want to believe you and I will freak out if that's true, but do you mind telling us what your source is?

Sorry guys, missed these  Well, if you listen to Tia closely enough during the movie you can put two and two together. And potr tells me it's true, and we all know potr knows everything :)

Ah. Good good. More proof. What is this book version? Where can I find it?

I'll be happy when the dvd comes out. We'll be able to see if there's some deleted scenes and whatnot.

That's alright Mel. :) I understand it now. After more people posted and reminded me of things I realized it had to be true. And if potr says it's true then it must be. :P I can now rest happily and pass the information on to my fellow Will/Elizabeth shipping friends. They'll be pleased.

Grargh. I REALLY need to see it again. I feel like I missed so much now.

I don't actually have a copy. I got the quote from someone off of LJ who wrote out all of the different scenes that weren't in the movie. I'm sure you could probably get it on Amazon though.

So it's based on a book? I never knew that!

I don't think it's based on a book. I think Disney just released a book version of the film.

No it's not based on a book. Disney released a book version of the script. They do that with most movies nowadays.

The PotC films were based on a ride in Disney...then the books were created around the time DMC came out...i think....

I've just heard that Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are delighted to be in the next movie.

So far they are the only returning actors who will appear in the next film, and it seems almost ecrtain that neither Keira Knightly or Orlando Bloom will be in this film, at this moment in time.

The film will be set round the Fountain of Youth and we shall also be seeing more of Jack's family.

The film is due for a 2009/10 release.

Obviously this could change, but as two actors have signed on, there will without doubt be a 4th film with Jack and Barbossa.

I hope so!!! Yipee. I literally just shouted, "yes!" Ha ha. That would be so great if they did.

If it is true that Babby and Jack are going to be the main characters, that for me, is the best possible thing that could happen in the next POTC film. The absence of Will and Elizabeth can easily be explained that he is serving as Captain of the Dutchman and she has gone home or something. Perfect. I really wanted a film with those two in it again. They are so great together.
