yeah, i've learned that its easier to be who u are than to hide ure obsession. u meet ppl who do like LotR even if they arent as obssessed. and yea its so sad how u can barely find any LotR things anymore....so sad.

I'm all alone in my obsession...
But I don't do anything to hide it. People tease me sometimes but I just pity them for what they're missing

But they forget things all the time, i can't have good LotR conversations with them.. (that's why i joined here )

Well, am I 57 yr. old grandmother and I am totally obsessed with LOTR. I wasn't always a 'ringer' though. It took my grown son to introduce me to this wonderful world of Middle-Earth and that wasn't until the TTT was ready to be released. I had my husband go the next day and buy the Extended DVD of the FOTR!
I won't go into detail of all the LOTR merchandise I now own or how many functions I have had the great honor to attend that deal with LOTR, but as many of you have said that you feel alone when it comes to our obsession of LOTR. My family with the exception of my son who also loves LOTR, find me a grown woman a little crazy as to why I love it so much. But that's okay, right?

I believe my mom is okay with it..but she says that I talk about it so much she has lost any interest in the movies and books.
Yet, when I do watch it she ask me so many questions about it...hmm something to ponder about, yes? *frown*

My mum doesn't like Lotr either because of all the monsters.. you know, orcs, trolls etc. My best friend doesn't like it too because she doesn't like Fantasy-stories... but I have people who like it although I am the most obsessed among them!!

My mum loves LOTR nearly just as much as me But my dad has never seen the movies so i don't really know what his opinoin is? Though i don't think he is that botherd about watching them, because every time i ask if he wants to watch them he just says maybe some other time.

My mom actually got annoyed with my obsession and was like "You need to focus on other things." But my dad really likes the movies. Hes not obsessed though. Thankfully one of my best friend was as obsessed as I was, so we would always talk about it!

My Mom likes lotr, and she says they are the best movies of all times. She's not obsessed, but she has no problem with me being obsessed (though she thinks I'm crazy! ). My mom just isn't the type of person who could really get into a book or movie.
My dad likes it well enough. He doesn't think it's the best movie ever made, but he assures me it's amoung the top 10!
My friends all like it well enough. Execpt, one of my friends hates Frodo and Sam because she thinks they're gay!
So, my sisters and I form are own little LOTR obsession group!

Mom likes LotR too. But more importantly she supports how much I love it. She brought me LotR bedsheets completely randomly almost ten years ago now - and Jesus it made me all blissfull inside. (Am cuddled up in them right now, btw)

My Mom doesn't hinder me from being obsessed, but we can't talk about it. My dad LOVES LOTR though, so that is good.

I first watched TTT with my dad, who rented it from the video store as soon as it was available with subtitles. That's what got me hooked. Then I watched FotR & RotK on my own (though I don't remember how). I was nine and utterly obsessed. My dad just likes to watch things and doesn't really keep anything close to his heart, but he's always been most supportive of my web design endeavors and such. Just doesn't really understand why I'm so in love with LotR. heh
My mother, on the other hand, does not get me at all. I finally got her to watch FotR & TTT a few years ago but I don't think I'll continue with her. xD She finds a lot of the visuals frightening and unpleasant and she's simply not a fantasy person. She does acknowledge the fantastic film score and the beauty of New Zealand though. She really liked Boromir and was sad when he died lmao.
