I am all for the book Legolas. He is a fascinating character, and I really love the friendship between him and Gimli. Plus he's elf, prince, archer, and single. But no, I'm not a fan girl. The movie Legolas was really terrible. Okay, he was a useful character, especially when there was need of 'someone' to say something to keep the plot moving, but he really wasn't all that amazing.
I don't blame the actor for that, I don't blame the director, I blame Tolkien. I think in Legolas he created a character with so much personality and background, representing so much, and with so much to give to a story, yet so hard to portray in a few hours of screentime. It's kind of brilliant, in a way, despite the fact that it left some book-Leggy fans a little disappointed.
For me it just reinforces the fact that the books will never be replaced by screen adaptions, no matter how brilliant.

I didn't vote at all.
Becaaaaaaaaaaaaaaause...
Combine these lines: Hot, warrior, and friend and you've started to scratch the surface of Legolas. You can never really understand him, but you can grow to know him a little bit. Add these things: He's sweet, he's good-natured, he's polite, he's confident, he's loyal...(rambles on and on)
I like him. *dreams about Legolas*

I used to detest the character Legolas when I first got into LotR, but now I really like his character. I voted for 'a great warrior', because he is equally matched in skills as Aragorn, and I think we can all agree that Aragorn is pretty darn good. He is also a good friend, especially to Gimli, but he is very caring of everyone, which is a good quality to have.

I think Legolas is many things, but for me, a great warrior and a great friend are at the top of the list (he's also hot, lol).
Great warrior- that's obvious. Give him a bow and arrows and he'll do wonders!
He's also a true and loyal friend. I'd be honored to have such a friend. It's evidenced by his devotion to Aragorn, and how good of friends he becomes with Gimli.

Book- Good warrior, didnt mind him. I preffered Aragorn more.
Film- Hated him with a passion. Smug Eejut.

I've actually found that as I've gotten older I'd have preferred to have Glorfindel go with the fellowship more than Legolas. Dont get me wrong I love Legolas but it's just how I feel about it. But then perhaps things would have been rather different!

For some reason I'm not much of a Legolas fan, unlike a lot of my friends. I think he's a great warrior, nothing more.

In book - he could be but rather not my type. I much preferred other Fellowship members. Of course he IS good warrior and good friend but...well. In movie - I hated him with whole passion.
