He was in King Arthur, too...I would call that a lead--he was in the top 3 characters. So, kind of a lead, I guess. They tried to make it into one.

But didn't F4 come first? I always thought it did.

I think King Arthur came out in 2004. I don't remember when F4 came out....maybe it was before it. My memory is pretty bad for remembering when most movies came out if I wasn't already looking forward to them.

Fantastic Four came after King Arthur in 2005.
I can never remember dates and years either, so I checked that info on IMDB.com.

Soo... I just got back from the midnight premiere, which I was at only because I got a free ticket. Even so, I feel a review is in order.
Let me make two things clear. First, I thought the first movie was absolutely atrocious. Second, I am in love with Chris Evans (The Human Torch/Johnny Storm). The only reason that I actually bothered to see this movie was due to the Chris factor.
The Good:
-Chris Evans
-Chris Evans in tight spandex
-Chris Evans shirtless (The scene I waited the entire movie for. )
-Chris can actually act
-I thought the movie was overall less corny than the first one
-The special effects were great
-I actually laughed at the funny bits ("...give you an invisible kick in the nuts!" and "But... It's Dolce!")
-The Surfer was all-around amazing
-The giant planet-eating cloud...
The Bad:
-Jessica Alba wouldn't even be a convincing actress in elementary school musicals
-The chemistry between Ioan and Jessica just didn't exist
-The plot was just waaaay too predictable.
-Doom = FAIL. There was far too little of him... he seemed like an afterthought.
Final rating... 6/10. It wasn't terrible, but the only exceedingly memorable part was my dear Chris.
EDIT: BAH. I admit it. The only part of the whole movie I paid attention to was the Torch's muscles.

*skims through your post so as not to see any spoilers*
I'm going to see this tomorrow, and I've VERY excited. I enjoyed the first movie more than I reckoned I would and I adore Norrin Radd so yaaaaaaay for the Surfer.
I'll post up my thoughts and review tomorrow night.
P.S. Chris Evans IS way hot.

Hmm... my mom asked me yesterday if I wanted to go and see it, but i'm not sure. I havn't seen the first one [she hasn't either] because I thought it looked horribly cheesy and I just didn't get around to seeing it.
Would I be really lost if I went out and saw this on without seeing the first? (I know a little bit of the plot)

^No, you wouldn't be lost at all. I took a friend with me who hadn't seen the first one and she was fine.

Right. I now seem a bit more self aware as to give a review.
I absolutely LOVED this. It took from the first movie and moved on with the characters.
Ioan Gruffud is so good as Reed. He has the character in my eyes, down pat. The scene at the bachelor party just made me LOL. He was so awkward and goofy and exactly right.
I loved how they brought in the Super Skrull idea from the comics after Johnny came into contact with Silver Surfer.
The movie was a tad darker in tone, but still remained funny in the right moments.
I don't get the Jessica hate. Her scenes with Norrin were exactly as I imagined. She plays the role of Sue pretty well considering. If you know the relationship of Sue and Reed in the comics, then you'll see that there chemistry was pretty spot on.
Chris was great as always. He really is Johnny Storm in every way. I do like how this movie you see him do a bit of growing up, but retain his cockiness and humour. The Johnny/Ben relationship always cracks me up too.
The Thing. You can't go far wrong with Ben and Michael Chiklis is the only guy I could ever imagine playing him.
Dr Doom. People have been complaining about this. I can't see why, he was every bit as sleazy devious and conniving as he is in the comic. My only niggle was his cloak wasn't green. The new updated Doom armour was perfect though.
Silver Surfer...wow....where do I start? Everything about him was awesome. He looked perfect. Doug Jones' body work was perfect. Lawrence Fishburnes voice was perfect. The way he was portrayed was perfect. There was not one thing I didn't like about him and his characterisation. So much so that I do hope the rumours are true and a Surfer movie is in the works.
Galactus. Now...I know I had been saying that he HAD to look like in the comic. Upon reflection and seeing it on the big screen. I'm glad they chose not to show how he looked. People who hadn't read the comics would have laughed at him. He wouldn't look much like a threat if they used the comic design. That being said..and this is a SPOILER..so turn away now if you don't want to know.
The shadow you see floating past definetly had the outline of Galactus' helmet. There were other points where you could make out other parts that were not cloud. Galactus was IN the cloud, not the cloud itself.
So there you have it. A comic book geeks interpretation.

Well, I just watched it this afternoon, and it wasn't too bad. I was kind of disappointed to learn that it had a PG rating... what kind of good action movie is that tame? but I was surprised after watching it, it wasn't too "mild" lol.
I guess it was an OK movie... i'd give it a 3 out of 5. It was a little confusing at times, because I havn't seen the first one. All in all, it wasn't the best action flick (by far) but it was mildly entertaining (plus a great way to beat the heat and cuddle with my BF )

I never ever listen to critics reviews. If something I think I'll enjoy looks good, I go and make up my own mind.
There's been plenty of movies I've seen and loved that have been universally panned by "critics"
If you want to go, go and see for yourself.
