Jack's ears pricked up the conversation almost before William had finished. "About that Will. . .ye ne'er told us exactly what was said in the letter."
The pirate leaned forward in his chair and placed his hands on the table, picking at it eagerly.

Will's head tilted backward with a lifted chin. Trying to show no sign of guilt on his face, he lied, "Oh, yes....the letter." Grabbing the letter nonchalantly, Will placed his hand on top of it and leaned on the desk. "Well, you see Mr. Mahaur, Lord Beckett delivered a message to me, in regard to a deal."
Pacing the dark black floor of the Pearl, Will's mind raced as he thought of more detail to throw into the fib. "To answer your question, Jack..... Beckett threatened that he would destory both the Pearl and the Dutchman within three days if we did not surrender to him....or for that matter, the East India Trading Company. He wishes to console a meeting with us and come to agreements."
Laughing outloud, Will continued, "Personally, I think this is ridiculous. Don't you agree?"

((1) Thank you
2) They'll likely not be coming in for some time. I'll be sending out pm's to all the lords when we get near.))
Just then, the man James had told to go fetch the drinks (as he himself was rather interested in where the conversation would go) conveniently returned with a bottle of rum and several glasses. As the man set about placing the items in the center of the table, Barbossa used the distraction to quickly slip the letter out from under Will's hand and unfold it casually. Quickly scanning the letter's contents, Barbossa arched an eyebrow inquiringly. Reading had only confirmed his suspicion that Turner was bluffing, but for now he was content to remain silent on the matter. He was morbidly curious as to where the whelp intended to go with this.

Jack took the rum bottle and poured the dark liquid into the glass. Tip-toeing his fingers on the tip of it, Jack inquired, "William, would this letter contain the contents of said distressed damsel, or more so, damsel in distress?" Jack took a swallow from the glass and tapped his tongue on the top of his mouth, tasting the heavy flavor and waiting for Will's reply.

Not noticing the slip of the letter by Barbossa, as Will reached for a glass of rum himself, his eyes remained downcast and unaffected by Henrick or Jack's acusations.
Lifting the glass to his lips, Will looked to Henrick with a raised eyebrow and said, "It seems to me that your friend is mistaken or stupid."
Smirking, he sipped the rum and allowed it to run down his throat slowly, in order to buy time, before he answered Jack.
"Jack, why would you believe that?" his eyes buried themselves into Jack's, "Just because that is a inquiry I had asked of you in the past...do you really believe it would be another one in the future?"

"What my...oft-impulsive captain meant to say, Captain van Mahaur," Barbossa hastily interrupted, casting a warning glance in Will's direction, "is that the contents of the letter be of a personal sort that he does not readily share with strangers." Laughing uneasily, he fixed his gaze on the young captain across the table, willing him not to say anything else that would only serve to further irritate their guest. The contents of the letter were understandably upsetting if one cared about such things (which Turner obviously did), but it was no reason to abandon all semblance of self-control. He was only covering for Turner now because Captain van Mahaur did not seem like the sort of individual one insulted casually, and Barbossa had no interest in dying for the whelp's slip of tongue.
"An' regardless of de letter's contents," Tia added abruptly, taking a place next to Barbossa, "de fact remains dat we have waited far too long to deal wit' Beckett. Him have become a great threat once again, one dat now affects all of pirate-kind. Personal matters aside, sometin' must be done."

((okay, I have returned! What have I missed? Also, is there any Pirate Lords spots still open? I can't really RPG much with Mr. Cotton, but I think I can do something with a Pirate Lord...if not, though, it's cool! ))

Jack juggled the last of the drink down, then, like a gentleman, cleared his throat. "Mates. . ." The Captain started, rising from his seat and setting the miniature glass on the table cautiously, he started to saunt his way to the exit.
"Wherever may be this assembly of people, 'specially a gathering of members or society of committe and or discussion of entertainment and so called, meeting of Beckett's. . .I'm pointin' my ship the other way." Jack gestured his thumb out the door then pulled a face.

"Ye'll sail your ship wher'eva Calypso-"
"Lord Beckett has possession o' Captain Turner's wife," Barbossa interrupted, pointedly disregarding both Jack's complaint and Tia's rebuttal. He'd been considering letting the whelp disclose this particular bit of information at his own discretion, but already the conversation was rapidly careening out of control. Something had to be said to regain focus.
James, who had been passively observing the discussion from his position against the far wall, immediately began to pay closer attention to what was being said, though the only visible sign of his increased interest was a slight shift in posture at the mention of Elizabeth. Mrs. Turner. Whatever. He may have long ago resigned himself to the fact that she was not to be his, but that did not prevent James from continuing to feel protective of her, if only from a purely platonic standpoint. They'd known each other far too long for him to feel differently, especially with her father gone.
"While that personally be the least o' my concerns," Barbossa continued, "I'm well aware that some of ye-" a pointed look in the direction of both Jack and Norrington "-consider the well-bein' of Mrs. Turner to be a personal matter, an' I doubt Captain Turner would allow it to escape consideration, anyway. So, as long as we're on the subject o' Beckett, let us figure that into our calculations as well."

Will's eyes shot toward Barbossa in utter disbelief. How did he know of the contents in the letter? Looking down toward where he originally placed the letter, he found it to be gone....no less in the hand of a pirate.
Wanting so desperately to stop Barbossa from announcing the situation of Elizabeth, he merely dropped his head and made no eye contact with any other in the room.

Jack's mustache twitched and his body started to feel that knack to sway more than usual.
Pricking his forearms, and hands up towards his chest, Jack made a barrier. "Barbossa, ye an' William, be me guest an' scuttle off to safe beloved Miss Murderess."
Irritated and uneasy as he remembered that dreadful memory of her that he never wanted to relive, Jack stepped his way out of the doorway. "So, like I said gents. . .it's my cue to point my ship the other way."
Twirling around, and looking like an untrained dancer of some race, Jack Sparrow started to make his way towards the Pearl's main mast.

Barbossa rolled his eyes and strode out of the cabin after Jack, muttering something about spineless cowards under his breath. The deck was completely empty, as though the crew had sensed that it would be some time before their captain came out to give them orders. "The song's already been sung, Jack," Barbossa said, easily catching up to the shorter pirate and seizing his arm. "The nine pirate lords are already honorin' the call. Dutchman or no, you're bound t' do the same."

Jack stopped and looked irritably away from Barbossa. He contemplated that one. Barbossa, the beast, had a point.
Reluctant to his words, Captain Jack said, "Summoning the Brethren Court, is it then?"

As Will continued to stand near his desk, with his head dropped, he wasn't confident that Henrick would want to be aboard the Pearl with a lying captain. However, William pushed the thought aside, and excused himself from the cabin.
Pushing open the cabin doors and then closing them behind himself, he stepped forward toward Jack and Barbossa. "Well, now that you know the contents of the letter, I wouldn't doubt that both of you, will be willing to help free Elizabeth. Am I correct?" he asked as his chin tilted upward.

"There be no other choice," Barbossa replied to Jack with a short nod. Looking up at Will, he merely folded his arms across his chest. "My first an' foremost priority remains the Brethren Court. I speak from experience when I say that Mrs. Turner is more than capable of handlin' herself, even when captured. Might even get rid o' Beckett for us, if she shows him the same courtesy she did me." Here he added a helpful miming of being stabbed in the heart. "I wouldn't worry 'bout your wife's well-bein'."
