Valaina strode up to a group of gathered Elven warriors, her aqua eyes holding each solider in turn. “Ready yourselves. We ride to war soon.” she said softly.

“For what?” Sadron, a young solider challenged. “The battle is already lost. Sauron has the ring. Hope is dead.”

Valaina strode up to him, her piercing gaze holding his gray eyes. “The battle is not yet lost. Look around you Sadron, look at the warriors gathered. They come because they still yet believe. As long as courage, purity and love still live, there will always be hope.”

“Our people are departing these shores. What more are we to give?” he questioned.

“And what land will be a haven if Sauron is victorious? Perhaps his power will not cover the Havens, or perhaps the shadow will spread to even such a land of peace and beauty. Should such calamity occur-life itself shall not exist and the light will be extinguished. Will you allow such a deed to come to pass?” she questioned. “ This is the final gift we shall leave the children of this world. If you believe in nothing else, let us leave a legacy worthy of remembrance.”

Sadron fell silent as she walked past and addressed the company again. “Every solider must be ready. We will leave as soon as the Prince commands.” she stated simply, her voice ringing with a forcefulness that few dared to challenge.

Turwaithiel smiled at Valiana as she talked to the group of disbelievers. She contiuned to help get soldiers ready, looking to the skies.

Valaina walked briskly through the ranks, inspecting weapons, (though there should have been little need as their kin had always forged the keenest blades) and readying the men. She smiled slightly as she Turwaithiel performing her duties, knowing the other she-elf would make a perfect commander. She paused briefly amid her duties as she turned her gaze to the horizon. A sudden breeze picked up, blowing her raven locks about her as she stared in the distance. Hold on, young hobbits. she thought to herself. Be strong and have faith. Aid will come to you soon.

Turwaithiel finished her duties and came and stood beside Legolas as the breeze picked up. "Do you think we can win this war, my lord?" She asked him. Legolas turned, glancing at her, and he sighed. "I think that a red sun will rise for many days to come...but, yes, in the long run, we will be victorious."

Valaina sighed and chose her words carefully. "Physically, yes." She paused as she stared ahead, falling silent before continuing. "But their hearts are troubled. Some feel that the situation is hopeless, that we should leave before further death comes upon our people." She sighed again. "And an army believing that they are defeated, will only be defeated. They must be given hope again, my prince-and they must be given it soon."

Legolas sighed also, once again grieved by Valaina's words. "I have noticed this...and I have tried in all ways to lighten there hearts and there minds, and give them hope." He looked down to the ground, refusing to make eye contact. "But I have failed..." His voice faltered and he sighed again, closing his eyes.

"What a pity that the words of the doubters spreads fear faster than courage can be ignited." she stated, almost spitting out the last statement in disgust. "Perhaps they need to behold with their own eyes the consequences of inaction. If they can just be given a reason to fight, they will be a force to be reckoned with."
