"So you deceived us all?" Caitlin asked quietly, whatever awe she might have had could not silence her. "You played upon our curiosity. You knew we would not be able to resist opening the letter-didn't you?" She then paused a moment before speaking again. "So what exactly is our mission?" she asked bluntly.

Scott, however, did nothing but stared at the Elven Lord for a moment. He felt the need to bow before his prenense, but he did nothing. He remembered the last words in the letter, going through his head.

"Once you open this letter, you have agreed to it's terms."

Or something to that matter. It was a cruel thing to do, Scott agreed, but he was also curious on why he was taken here and why he was chosen. He waited for Lord Elrond to answer Catilin.

"One question for you and then I will answer yours," Elrond proposed but continued before she could say anything, "Would you have agreed on your own?"

Scott looked down at the ground. Would he have? But then Scott made up his mind. If all he had to do was agree to a letter to see such an amazing place for real and escape tomorrow's history test, then he would have totally agreed.

"Yes." He said, then added, "My Lord."

"No.." Abagail reluctantly said. She had something that she needed to do the next day, today, and the fact that she was not going to be there was gwaning at her.

Scott then thought of his essay he had to write over the Lord of the Rings. He grinned, for the first time, thinking this. If he could experience the things from the book and movie, then he could definatly ace his paper! He grinned once more and then awaited everyone elses answer, especailly Louy. Even if he didn't want to be here, if she was going, he thought he would have said yes just to be with her.

Louy bit her bottom lip.
"I would have... I mean, I'm a big fan of, well... Lord of the Rings." she said, glancing over at Scott, then up at Elrond.

Aaron scratched his chin.
"Yes, I would! Of course I would have... I mean, miss a chance to meet the characters in person? Unthinkable! I dreamed about it my whole life. I have hundreds of questions for all of the characters..." he suddenly stopped himself.
"I'm rambling, aren't I?"

Just then Mark walked in, coming up behind Elrond. For awhile he had wondered the halls lost. Maybe he could get some directions to the nearest bathroom...

Elrond smiled at all of the people agreeing, "Then, I don't see your problem with this. Although, I meant more... would you have agreed to it just by reading the letter and not coming here? Or would you have thought of it as a joke?"

Abagail wasn't really paying attention. Her heart hit her. She would have helped if she knew their was a problem, but she really didn't think much of the letter. Looking up at Mark, she questioned, "What's your problem?"

Caitlin lowered her head in shame as she searched her own heart. "Please pardon my outburst, my lord." she said quietly, not meeting her gaze to the elf lord's. "I understand now why you used such measures. I would have aided if I truly believed there was a need, but in truth, I thought the letter as a prank played by some delinquent child. I do not know what I would have done if we had not been transported here. I may have refused, just because I did not believe."

Scott glanced back at Louy, his heart skipping a beat as he did so and then after hearing Aaron ramble on and on, echoing Scotts own thoughts that he simply didn't say, Scott grinned and chuckled. He liked this Aaron guy. He was cool. Then, Scott listened to Lord Elrond speak and decided once again, to keep quiet. He really wanted to meet the charactors.

"Well, I do teach a course on Lord of the Rings, and did think it was a joke from the students. They do that thing all the time. But hey, to acctually meet the characters? That's one thing that I would have never missed out on. Though... Oh, I'm rambling again... I guess I'm just in shock of actually being in Middle-Earth. I mean, I've learned the elvish language. Now I can put it to use."

Louy looked over at Scott, then back to the elven lord.
"Well... At first I thought it was a joke. But when Scott showed me his letter-the same letter-I believed it was real," she said quietly...

Mark looked at all the people, then at the elf.
"Erm, my problem? Well, I have a couple. One, where's the bathroom in this place. Two, I have no idea where I am. And three, I have no idea what's going on..."

"One, that way," Elrond said pointing down the hallway, "Third room. Two and three I will explain later."

Abagail decided to be honest. "I would have helped also.." she pathetically gave out.

Mark nodded, and quickly ran to the bathroom. There was no toilet, but it was to be expected. He gone in worse restrooms in Iraq. Quickly he was back out.

"You're in Rivendell. Middle Earth, if you will," Elrond explained to Mark, "and everyone should listen in to number three. I have been waiting on everyone to get here before explaining."

Pausing, Elrond thought of just how to explain it. Seeing no good idea to start, he just told point-blankly what is happening, "In the letter, I explained the situation. Since some of you probably thought it was a joke and others didn't pay too much attention to it, I will explain the situation again, but it in such detail. A spell, if you may, has come with the ring. The best way to descrive it is Gollum."

"Oh he's that freaky little guy," Abagail interrupted.

Curious on what in the world "freaky little guy" meant, Elrond stopped for a moment but soon continued paying no attention to Abagail's interjection, "In essense, the whole entire structure of Middle-Earth changes. Everything good will become bad while everything bad will become good. I called on you all because we need the ring to be destroyed in order for this to stop, and we need people not of the spell so they won't turn on us."

Elrond became silent, waiting for the concept to soak in, and the summoned ones to answer.

Scott looked over at Aaron. He taught a course on this stuff. Now he really needed to talk to him. But then, as Mark returned, Scott looked at Lord Elrond and listened carefully, and he looked around. They where going with the Fellowship! But...they had to protect them...from what? Nazgul? Orcs? Uruk's? And eventually Sauron himself? The thought made Scott shiver and he asked, "How do you want us to protect them?"
