((I don't think anyone but LDM and I have read the book, mate, so I think you will be fine! We start now! ))
It was dark. Mist and fog surrounded the small playground, no cars in the road and no shops open on the main road that lay beside it. Lake Michigan was beside the playground, unmoving, except for a few ripples here and there, yet no mists came near it. It was an eerie, chilly morning, yet no one was in sight.
Yet, then, in the distance, a small figure could be made out; she was lean and beautiful, with shiny black hair, yet you couldn't make out her face, because her back was turned and she was facing the lake...suddenly, the mist began to part...and the girl walked toward the lake...
April awoke with a start. She looked over at her clock. 6:27 am. She looked around her room, but couldn't see anything, for it was still dark and no sunlight shown through her window because of the early hours and it was not yet dawn. April didn't know why she was up so early, but she felt awake...and felt...a calling, of some sort. She felt like she should go down to Lake Michigan that morning...why? She had no idea. But she decided that she couldn't ignore the feeling.
April got up and dressed, combed her hair, and grabbed her bag and then headed out towards the Lake. It was a little misty that morning, but nothing different from any regular morning in Chicago. Then, April thought she saw a boy in the distance.

In the foggy distance of the early morning mist, Mark Brigham walked with his hands in his jeans pockets, head downcast, watching each crack and crevice in the grey sidewalk, pass by with each step.
Hunching his shoulders over more than normal, he felt a cold shiver run up his spine, as a cool breeze blew across his face.
His mind was racing with thoughts, questions, anger, and frustration. Set firmly across his face was an expression of sincere loneliness. However, as his subconscious mind was focused on these things, he did not notice April walking in his direction.

David walked to the same destination as Mark and April. His dark hair was still a scraggly mess since he was too tired to brush it when he got out of bed and had a strange urge to go to the lake.
He opened his jaw wide in a yawn, and stuck his hand in his pockets. A few minutes later, he noticed two figures up ahead. Running now, he caught up with the two.
"Hey!" he called..
