Ruth Ann remained silent. She had noticed the elf on the way over to William and Falco at least three times, and she was well aware the elf was no threat to her. In her mind, William and Falco were the ones that needed reassurance for, even if the elf was a threat, Ruth Ann Underhill could take the elf down.

"An elf!" Thought William. "Why, what a thing I've brought myself into. Who would imagine me seeing an elf?"
The three hobbits were now focussing fully on the elf.
"Well," William whispered to Falco, "at least she dropped whatever she was holding. That at least tells me she means no harm. Beside, I hear elves are very friendly folk; I don't think she'll be of any trouble."
With that being said, William began to relax a little. He introduced himself in true hobbit fashion.
"William Bunce at your service." he said with a bow. "And this, Draca of Rivendel, is my companion, Flaco Buffin."
Falco gave a little nod to show that, although he didn't completely trust the elf, he was willing to know her.
"My I ask," Falco said, "what an elf might be doing in these woods?"

I am searching for my horse. She wandered off and I can't seem to find her.

"Your horse?" said William. "Well, what does she look like?"

(I am really wondering when this is set, SavedbyGrace.)
Ruth Ann remained silent in this conversation. She was roaming around to adventure, not to look for some stranger's horse. She would probably have more compassion towards the elf if she was considerate and did not sneak up on them or pull out the weapon in the first place. However, in all, Ruth Ann did not know her, and, in turn, had to be on her way if she was not needed.

Right, sorry. It takes place a little after Frodo and Sam left the Shire.
IC:
"Well, that sounds like a very lovely horse!" William said. "But I must unfortunately say that, I have not seen her anywhere."
"We," Falco began, "unfortunately have no time to go looking for her Ms. We're trying to get to Bree by nightfall; we simply cannot be delayed."
"But," William interupted, "you are more then welcome to join us! Infact, it may prove beneficial."
A silence was in the air. Ruth Ann looked somewhat impatient.
"What say you then Ms. Draca? Will you come with us?"

"Well I was going to look for her that up that way. So yes. I will be glad to accompany you." She smiled

Thus it was that William had recruited two new members. Daybreak, was now creeping over the realm. Light slowly entered the forest and seeing the oppurtunity, the company resolved to leave the woods.
"Look at this!" said Falco. "The light is reaveling a path!"
"Excellent!" exclaimed William. "We must begin right away!"
They met no more opposition from the trees. It would appear that what was taught to Ruth Ann had forced Old Man Willow into a deep slumber. And since all the mysteriousness of the woods emitted from him, it was as if every other tree were asleep with him.
Now William resolved to head Northeast from where they were. That would take them to the upper part of the Barrow Downs, and unto the old East West road.
In doing so (depending on their speed) William hoped to reach Bree by nightfall.
This was the plan, but like many good adventures plans rarely work.
They didn't know it, but a terrible storm was coming. Riding on strong winds it paced an incredible distance. By the time company reached the end of the woods (a fact Falco rejoiced over) the storm had struck.
Rain poored down like rocks! And because it was almost impossible to see, they, instead of going toward the road, wen't directly away from it.
They got lost in the Barrow Downs!
What's even worse was that they were seperated, and a terrible fog was coming in.
