"As normal... I went mental studying." She paused, looking out of the window. "Look, Severus. I don't want us to drift any further apart. Just... Promise me you won't get too involved with the Dark Arts?" She looked back at him, her face sincere.

Severus had his head down, he was looking halfways on the floor and half at Lily as he began talking. "I know...that something has changed about our friendship, Lily...and I know how you're thinking about my...new interests about the Dark Arts." He now raised his head and looked at Lily. "But...you know that we've been friends for so long...I would never do anything to let this friendship drift away even more."

Selena looked around. She knew full well why she was ignored by all of them, it was her house. Slipping into the compartment she went Over to Remus Lupin who still had a bit of room beside him to sit. "Hi Remus, can I sit with you?" She asked the one boy who she proberly felt as much of an outcast as she did.

"Doesn't matter" Sirius responded to Emmy's apology while rubbing his arm where James had punched him. "I'm quite used to it." He then looked at Cat, a fellow Gryfindor with whom he chatted once in a while, his grey eyes met her green eyes as he nodded. "Yeah, but lets not talk of that.. I think it's going to be a quite exciting year." He winked at his friend Lupin but made sure that the rest didn't notice.

Lupin absentmindedly said, "Sure." though his mind wasn't exactly in the train compartment. He was still worried sick that his friends' devotion might end up with either them dead or worse, werewolves. Finally he gripped his mind back to reality and asked the girl that had asked to sit next to him, "How was your summer?" He finally looked at the girl and felt a slight twist in his already doubly twisted stomach. It was Selena Malfoy. Lupin had no idea why he felt that twist. It wasn't like she was like the rest of her pureblood fanatic family.

Selena smiled, and sat next to Remus. "Ok, in a way." She sighed. "My parents tried to get me into the same things Lucius is in. I wish they would just leave it. I am not like them." She smiled sadly at Remus. "Sorry. I get mad and rant. How was your summer?"

"I'm just worried about you, Severus. But I trust you," Lily said softly.
She got up, went to sit down on the seat beside him and put an arm round him.
"I really do trust you."

Severus nodded again. "You don't need to be worried" he said as he looked at Lily, then he smiled for the first time. He hadn't has a really good time he spent with his parents when he was at home during the summer holidays. They were still shouting at each other like they often have done before. And now, he began to realize how much he had missed talking to Lily, to a person who understood him, who he could trust. "Don't be worried about me", he said again. "Nothing will ever change about our friendship."

James tapped Sirius on the shoulder and nodded over to were Remus was talking to a Slytherane(?) girl.

"You're right about that," Lily smiled.
"So how was your summer really? Are your parents still fighting?"

Severus looked at Lily. Somehow, she already knew what was really going on at his home. "Yes, they are." He signed deeply. "I always listened to them. I could hear them shouting through the house." He shruged when he had to think of this. "Their arguments about...just everything. They don't get on well which each other. They never did as far as I can remember. Don't feel much great about this. But...that's a fact. I mean...what can I do against it?"

Lily frowned. "I'm so sorry, Severus. But you're right. I suppose there isn't much you can do." It was silent fo a moment. 'Looking forwward to going back to Hogwarts?" Lily's face lit up. She had been anticipating coming back since she had left Hogwarts last year.

"Yes...yes." he said hestitating a bit.
"Although I don't really want to meet...several people again, you know." He drifted away a bit by the thought he would meet them again maybe everyday now. "But...it's half as bad as it sounds..." he continued. "I'm just waiting what the year will bring"

Sirius followed his friend's gaze and grinned. Remus chatting with a girl, that was a rare sight indeed. Not wanting to tease his friend with this in public he turned to James instead and hissed "Oughtn't you to be somewhere else? In another compartment?"
