well I just got a horse trailer yesterday. It's a three horse slant with a dressing / tack room. My dad says that if I want to I can redecorate the dressing room with like new carpet on the floors and put a different color paint on the walls, so, at the moment I am scheming with different designs

Hm... do an accent wall. Like, all the walls light accept for one, which is a darker color!

Anyway, for awhile we were thinking of selling Zoe, but have now decided against it. Instead we're hoping to get a gelding about 10-15 years old that's been broke and ridden and stuff already. Maybe if we get one, that will help Zoe settle down and not want to try to be dominant over me and my family because she will have the other horse to dominate over.

I think it would be cool to get a black gelding...

it seems like all you need erurania is to be dominant. You can't let Zoe get away with stuff. Say your leading her and she doesn't want to stop,in this situation you would have to get aggressive and make her back up( and not like a pleasure back, a fast as she can back-back) until she won't go any more, stand back tell her stand in a demanding voice ,but don't yell and see if she moves back to you if she does repeat the process.
Because Erurania if she's like most horses get a another calmer horse might calm her down but it wont make her less aggressive towards you.


But, now my tragic news for the mounth, So Ruby is at the trainer for trail training, the trainer started to notice that Ruby was having problems walking on the rocks, which shocked me because she was raised on rocks, so she brought her farrier out this morning when we came out to check on her. Well the farrier trimmed her, checked her angles which he said were pretty steep, but he said that Ruby is going to get navicular syndrome and it's probably no longer a question of if she will get it its just a question of when.
So he told us that we would get at least two more years out of her if we shod her, so we did but now that we went homw and seiously looked it up only two sources out of maybe ten say that you should shoe a navicular horse.

Now I'm all depressed....

Well... I guess it doesn't help that I'm a little scared of her... I'm fine when there's a fence between us, but even if someone else's leading her, I'm afraid she might rear and hurt that other person or charge at them like she did my mom once...

And really, I'm not that much of an aggrisive person. And I'm scared of her because she bit me on the back and left a mark for a week on the first day we got her. How it happened was I was in the pasture with her, and she was between me and the fence. Then the neighbor brought his dog, and spooked the horse because it had his hakles up. Zoe reared a little and knocked me over. And in a bit of a panic I hightailed it to the gate, just before I got out, Zoe trotted by, trying to get away from the dog, and in the process turned her head and bit me. After that I haven't been in very good terms with her...

Awe, that's sad to hear about that! But, can't you un-shoe a horse? Like, I've seen horses with their shoes taken off... and the nail wholes still there.

Poor Ruby... Though... what is navicular syndrome exactly?

You can take off the shoes yes ,but the farrier also thinks that she was shod when she was younger so she has abnormaly small feet and a club foot that might have resulted from early shoeing.

And Navicular disease is when the navicular bone's ( which is one of the bones in the hoof that aids in blood flow) tendons's that hold it up snap or give out due to abnormal strain on them which in turn causes the navicular bone to rube up against the other bones in the hoof and cause the horse alot of pain and sometimes an innability to walk.

Well... I sold Zoe! The lady who bought her told us what she was looking for in a horse... and Zoe had all of the requirements! The horse and her new owner just clicked! So she's in a better home, now!

And, just a few days ago, we got two different horses, who are just as sweet as could be! We got a 4 month old and a 4 year old, both female. They were both stable mates, and so are used to having each others company. Mistic or Misty is the younger one, and Natasia, or Shy, is the older one. Everyone thinks Misty is Shy's foal because they look alot alike, buy she isn't... they're not even related(they have the exact same blaze down their noses. I'll try to get pictures soon. They are both paint quarter horses. Shy has a spot on her side in the shape of Italy, lol!

Misty has just been weaned from her mom, and will come up to you and let you pet her anywhere. Today I picked up one of her front hooves, and she didn't seem to mind.

Shy is already saddle broke. I rode her the day we went to look at the two. She did really well for not being riden for a year and a half! Though, her reining needs work. Both horses lead very good, even Misty who's so young!

Keep in mind reining takes alot of work.... personally ruby responds alot better off the leg and I like it that way, but some horses just never become very good at neck reining

I've been jumping a lot lately, which I love. My horse is sort of crazy though- she's so unpredictable! Some days she'll be perfect, and other days she'll want to refuse everything. She's getting better though.

Hi everyone...glad Zoe went to a good home and sorry about your horse Annabel Lee. Well, I found this great technique to get your horse "more lift" if you ride in Western Pleasure, but it can be used if you don't ride Western Pleasure. It's called Trail Tricks. What you do is you take obstacles you see in a trail class and add them to your training session. I use boards (no nails) and I have my horse, walk, trot, and lope over them. For a challenge, I place another board a few feet in front of the first board and I have my horse trot over both of them.

It teaches your horse to pick up in the front end. For loping, or cantering, I use one board, but if I have another one, I place it on one side of the areana. I also use it for sidepassing or I put the boards together and create a backthrough. I also use cones. One thing you can do is set up a cone grid with 9 cones set 3 ft apart and then you go around each cone in a tight circle, with your horse's nose tipped a bit in the inside. Well sorry for not being on a lot y'all. Ruby is still at the trainer's and won't be back for another one and a half weeks,but when I get her back I should be able to go to all my 4-H stuff without her freaking out like she used to.
But anyway I'm not going to be doing barrels with her so my barrel saddle has no use. I have been looking into different saddles that I could comfortably ride everyday, like work saddles and trail saddles. At the is point I need to decide if I want to go the extra amount for a Billy Royal saddle or a cheaper one that I could get right away....... So if any of you have any experience with Billy Royal saddles I would like to hear them , please .

I ride a Billy Cook, it's pretty comfy, but I love barral saddles.
