^ And it just feels pretty, you know? *swishes hair around * :P But the beauty of it is that he won't cut it so short if you really don't want it. :)

I bet people do purposely dress badly, but they never get picked to go on the show. :P Come on, you get $5000 to spend on CLOTHES in NEW YORK CITY! I'm not much of a shopper, but even I'm tempted by that! :D (Please excuse my inner girly-girl. :teehee:)

My sister and I are really considering nominating someone right now who... shall we just say I've almost never seen a thing in her closet that isn't black, or a dark grey.
And she's not goth. I hope we can! It would be sooo fun.

Secretly, I adore this show. I have my mother tape it so I can spend the days I'm home sick watching it.

I've always wanted to nominate my mother. She always wears these HUGE linen pants and shirts that just look terrible on her. Well, that or tank tops. :hide:

I want to nominate my mother, too! She wears *shudder* tapered jeans! Breaks the #1 on WNTW. ;) I think she would absolutely die if she were on it, though, and probably refuse. :( My sister too, because she just puts together the weirdest stuff! She likes it that way, so it's her business, but she doesn't even wear nice things when we go to visit family or something! It bugs me... :annoyed2:

Oh, neat FM! Good luck! :D

I know someone who would be perfect too! She tye-dyes as a hobby, and it's a cool hobby, but EVERYTHING she wears is tye-dyed. Or she wears these really old huge t-shirts like bags. It's really bad, every time I see her I think "WNTW! WNTW!"

yup! :-D *plays with hair :P* well, it seems like there was one lady on there who didn't want her hair cut very short and he did anyway. but other than that they seem pretty good about giving you about what you want.

Well, I would! I love to shop whenever I get the chance so to me this would be AWESOME! :bounce: :teehee: Not to mention it's New York City!!

good luck with nominating those people, everyone! I think I'm lucky enough to say there's no-one I know who dresses badly enough to need to go on there. :)
and by the way aren't you happy most people don't look at you and say "gee, she (or he) needs to go on What Not To Wear! Look at what she (or he) dresses like!" I am at least! (although I admit some of those people on there REALLY do need their help!

Yeah, that's what's so great about it! It's not only a make-over show, it's about moving the person forward! And it's so neat to see the transformation!

Mm, that's weird! I remember seeing a girl who just put her foot down, and he showed her some footage of other women who were scared and ended up loving it, but she still won't let him. So he just washed and trimmed her and sent her on.

I've unfortunately got a bit of a vendetta against this show. I haven't seen it, but the only times I've heard it referenced are by people who are really upset about the hair cutting. The idea that older women can't have long hair is completely stupid. And they cut it on younger women too because it's just not 'in.'

I have longish hair and these sorts of shows, and Locks of Love, and all of those organizations that pressure people into cutting their hair off bother me.

Who wants to join me in bringing back the lady?

I'm sorry, Nie! I agree with you whole-heartedly that women can have long hair. But don't get the wrong impression of the show. They've never sat the woman down and said "You may not have long hair!" and then shaved it off. It's more about pressuring the person to take a risk and actually change their hair for the first time in their life. So it's a good sort of pressure, at least in my mind. :)

I'm sorry to hear that too, Nienor! I have long (ish) hair too so I completly understand what you're saying. If a woman wants to have long hair than let her have long hair! Not everything necessarily has to be what's 'in'. if it looks good on you, go with it. :) but I think on WNTW they're just trying to show you what you could look like... it's all just sort of to open up your eyes a bit as Taur said. :) I can't say it as well as she did but she described it just about down to a tee. :)

Exactly! :-D

hmmm, I'll have to see that one. :) really there's nothing they can do if you WILL NOT have your hair cut... maybe the other lady I saw finally did let him cut it... I don't remember :P

Hmm. I admit I am still skeptical. But thank you for the reassurances. There are so many shows on TV and videos on the internet of people crying and sobbing over having their hair cut off...it's cruel and makes me worry about our culture. What sort of people are we that enjoy watching women sob over losing their hair! Hair is a very personal thing and one is entitled to keep it. I have had so many people tell me I should donate my hair to Locks of Love. *grinds teeth* No thanks. I'll donate my hair when you donate a kidney.
Sorry, complete tangent there! As long as WntW is not a fet1sh show, I suppose it's all right.

Long haired and staying that way! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v370/ ... AG0219.jpg
*walks off and promises not to come back and rant again*

Nie, I absolutely love your hair. It's gorgeous. So long and wavy and pretty. I don't think you should get it cut off.

But What Not To Wear isn't really like that. Nick never makes people get their hair cut if they really don't want it. And pretty much everybody loves their hair when he's done.

Wow, Nie! Your hair is very pretty long!

We're glad to reassure you. :) But I don't think you should worry.
