Ah, right. But I myself don't have a problem with gore if it's... humourous? If it's done with a laugh... or it's meant to make you laugh...

But then I've always been weird like that. I'm the kinda gal that rewinds scenes when people get beheaded just to try and see how they did it. :teehee:

*squirmy*

:P You've got quite an interesting sense of humour then, JF. Ah, but we loveses you anyway.

So, I just watched some kind of ST trailer on YouTube and I had a revelation - it's a musical! I had no idea! :teehee: Shows how ignorant I can be..

Let's just call it a morbid fascination with how films are made.... :P ... 'cos that's all it is really... my first thought when I see someone covered in blood is usually what do they use for the blood and how much did they get through.... :teehee: ... if you think like that, it can never bother you because you know it's not real.

Oooh, I have yet to see a trailer for it! *goes to youtube*

Oh, yes. I can't wait to hear JD sing... and maybe even AR....

Maybe I should try that method then. :) It's very sound advice for those of us who are of the squem-ish type.

It's not a very good trailer though, is it? Of course it's only a teaser, but I don't think it was too impressive. Alan wasn't even in it! ;)

*ish frustrated* I know I've heard him sing somewhere else before, but I can't think of where... anyway, I'd watch it just to hear the two of them sing!

Yeah, it works with films that have things in it you're not too comfortable with, like violence, although I'm Ok with violence from years gone by, as that's done with... whereas modern films with modern violence... you know it goes on I suppose..

No, it was pretty... rubbish actually.... still worth watching... :P

Lol, indeed. As I was saying to Ea, Ala sent me a song Alan sang called Intelligence, and I found out it is actually from the animated film he did, Help! I'm A Fish. Would you like me to send it to you? :-)

*nods* I know what you mean. There's such a difference between the two. I'm convinced that nowadays, because we can make things more realistic through CGI etc. we tend to make things gorier and more violent than they really are.

Oh, of course! That sounds quite familiar... I may have heard it before, but I'd love to hear it again. :)

Well, it's hard to explain the gore in this story. I mean, without giving it all away. Ha ha ha. But....he's a barber. So....I'll let your imagination run away with that. ;) :P

In my opinion, not THAT gorey...it is, but it could be worse. :P And it is quite amusing at some parts. My favourite song of the play is called "A Little Priest"....and it's hard to explain up until this point, but Sweeney and the woman (I'm forgetting her name) come up with this plan to be a barber shop AND sell meat pies. However...the meat pies aren't like...animal meat. If you catch my drift.
When I saw the play for the first time, I was laughing so hard I was crying at that point. :P And everyone around me was just STARING at me like I'd lost my mind. Ha ha ha.
Although, I DID laugh my way through American Psycho. :P So my judgement of "gorey" may not be yours. :P

But I'm really interested in hearing JD sing. That's something I never expected...really. :P
And wait--there's a song that Alan sings? What? Me must hear!
AND I need to find a preview for this film too! :P

*runs off*

*waits patiently for AR singing clip*

Whoa.. I had no idea it was meant to be funny as well. Unless that's just your slightly morbid sense of humour shining through, MB. ;) I guess it helps that you've seen the play. From the way you described it though, it doesn't seem like there would be more implication of vile deeds than gore. I'm probably getting this movie entirely wrong. :duh:

(By the by, you asked me a while back about that Snape banner I had up...it was made by our loverly JF! :D)

You're welcome, but it is lovely to have you back! :-)
[Ohh I see... and where is it now? Your wonderful Snape banner? If you don't want to wear it.. I'll steal it! Muhahahah]

I'm sorta with Larael on the gore part. I'm too empathic. Even though I keep telling myself it's just fake blood and movie stunts, but I just unable to look beyond. That's why it took me a long time to work up the 'courage' to watch Sleepy Hollow, but it wasn't bad at all. It's too humourous to be scary! I think it'll be the same with Sweeney Todd!

[Thank you thank you thank you for the song. It's great... I loooove that voice.. he reminds me very much of Scar from Lion King. That actor has a great voice too by the way! Do we have any fan club for him? Hehe. Ohh... and Alan Rickman as Snape had a special guest appearance in my dreams last night... very strange. I have no idea how he got there...]

@ Larael - I think horror films in particular strive to make them as gore filled as possible, so that is the horror of them, as opposed to older horror films where it was creepy settings and moments where you jumped out your seat that was the horror part. Now horror is measured on how many people you can kill in a horrible way per film and how much blood gets thrown over the place.

@ Monty - Yes, I think I understand what you mean about the gore in this film, I mean I'm only guessing based on what I know it to be about, and what Sleepy Hollow was like.... I am really looking forward to it. :D If you give me your email address I can send it to you if you like. :-)

@ Larael - :duh: I'll send it right now, sorry I forgot. I think it is meant to be humourous... I'm not sure that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp would make a really scary un-funny film together... I'm guessing it's going to be a little bit like the Rocky Horror Picture Show... weird and wacky. :P

@ Ea - Well I'm glad you did watch Sleepy Hollow and that you liked it. Johnny Depp plays the part of a wimp so well, you are too busy smiling or cringing for him to be scared.

Yay! I'm glad you liked it... my favourite part... "we've been caught we've been sold, laid out in the cold".... I listen to that over and over again... I LOVE the way he sings it... yes, he does have a similar voice to Jeremy Irons, and no we don't have a club for him... he is rather nice as well...

Ahhhh The Rocky Horror Picture Show.. another kitschy movie I've yet to see!!

Yeah, Depp's character is such a baby. I love his absolutely unrivelled talent for choosing the non-mainstream parts - and for acting them out so well!
But ehh.. which of course I would elaborate on in abundance in the specific Johnny Depp thread, of course!!
*ahem* All there is left to say is that Alan Rickman surely possesses (omg, there are 5 s's in that word??) that talent as well. :-)

*listens to the song*

One potion, one ocean
one ruler of all
its a vision i've seen
its a world of your dreams

*shudder*
His voice is so scary, looming, dooming... *shudder* and then the song goes all Disney-happy (even though it's not even a Disney-movie)
Soo lovely... :P

[Ohh, the notorious Jeremy Irons... that's right!! How could I forget... I love the bad guys... they always get the great lines!!]

Lol, yes... slightly off topic... but in a good way I think. :D

[needs to find the JD thread]

I couldn't believe it when I found out what it was from... it sounds... so sinister... his voice is so wonderful... could listen to him talk all day...

*Wishes she could be visited by AR instead of "Santa" at Christmas.* *Sigh*

I'm loving the funny AR videos on YouTube. I'm finding tributes and all that jazz... I just got the sound fixed on my compy... so it makes me happy to watch/listen to AR things.... <3333

Meh, you people post fast... *points* Just made a few additions to my last post - now with lyrics!! :-)

Anyway, I couldn't find that many clips with Alan Rickman in character other than numerous Snape tributes (which of course is nothing but lovely!), but I was looking for more clips/videos with him as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

[By the way, Gimli, you know you need to stay away from the Snape + YouTube combination if you don't want DH spoilers, right?]
