Ok the thing that I love the most from the commentaries are the random facts that are given about the making of the movie, do you know any random facts? I wanna see
Here are some of them:
-The materials Of the flowers that was placed outside the tomb of the King in Rohan was silk.
-Actor John Rhys-Davies had to wear a prosthetic fingertip to replace the one he had lost in a farm machinery mishap. (Gimli)
-Actor John Rhys-Davies also provided the voice for Treebeard.
-Bernard Hill was a King in LotR and a Cap'n The Titanic
-Designer Alan Lee had to be located by tracking down a FedEx van.
-Alan Lee Fell off the Seat of Seeing at Amon Hen and broke his left wrist.
-The two Towers was the more troublesome to name acourding to author JRR Tolkien.
-Theoden's wardrobe included fur boots wraps and an undershirt with gold trim.
-To show wear and tare of backpacks carried by the fours hobbits and their scale doubles, 139 separate props were constructed.
Those are all the ones I can remember, any of my Elf friends know more, or any comments about the ones posted?

Hmm...I've listened to the commentaries, and I didn't know those things! Are they all on rotk or something? Cause I don't have that one.

Yeah, I have the extended editions, too, except for rotk, were the facts on the special features for that one? (Okay if you don't remember, it's not that important)

Actually, I just watched all three EEs with PJ/Fran/Philippa's commentary, so here goes.
-Fran Walsh actually provided the Nazgul screams - she had a throat infection and she was just showing the soundmen how she wanted it to sound, but they thought it was great so they asked her to do it again!
-PJ's favorite word is "evocative". (This is an unofficial and unconfirmed "fact" but he says it so many times you wouldn't believe. )
-It was PJ's idea to have the Elves come to Helm's Deep.
-The first Orc Aragorn kills in the Battle of Pelenor Fields is his son, Henry.
-Haleth son of Hama is played by Philippa's son.
-The boy next to Haleth is actually Viggo's son Henry.
-Billy Jackson (PJ and Fran's son) was the only Hobbit extra who didn't have to wear a wig.
-Bilbo's birthday cake actually caught on fire while they were filming the scene.
-The ghosts in the Paths of the Dead were actually going to be created using a technique much like the cursed pirates in Pirates of the Caribbean, but PJ didn't know POTC was using those techniques too, so he had to scrap that idea and come up with something different for the ghosts.
-The MPAA asked PJ to take out a few seconds of the strangling scene from the beginning of ROTK because it was too intense.
-The actor who plays Gothmog also plays the Witch-King and several other various villains.
-Elijah Wood's sister makes a cameo as one of the women in the Gilttering Caves.
...and I shall stop now, or you all will kick me out.

The calm way in which Peter said that had me in stitches!!

I got more!!
-The Two Towers footage was almost stolen when IT manager Duncan Nimmo chased down by muggers when he attempted to bring it to PJ's London Hotel. (That would have meant either cancelation of the whole film or we would have had to wait longer for the release)
-A car was briefly visible on one the scenes of the Shire before it was edited out for the DVD release.
-Designers considered dressing the Cave Troll in remnants of Dwarf armor.
-PJ Dedicated "The Fellowship of the Ring" to his parents. *watched it on the ending credits*
-Black Jack piercingly portraits a Hobbit in the Hidden Easter Egg feature on the FotR Extended DVD's.
-1,000 separate buildings were made the for the model of Minas Tirith.
-Christopher Lee made the Guinness record book for the most TV appearances.
-Billy Boyd always got lost in the often-rearranged Fangorn Forest.
(Thats something Pippin would do, he is so into his character)
Ok some of those facts werent found in the Special features, I went and found some of those while reading articles and watching some specials about lotR in the internet, just to make clear.
Anyone got more? I know I will...as soon as I find more that is

*thinks*
-On the inside of Theodin's breastplate, there is a picture of a sun.
-John Rhys Davies was actually allergic to the prosthetic pieces applied to his face.
-The Fangorn Forest set actually became infested with the Weta (an insect) which terrified PJ
-When Aragorn kicks the helmet in TTT, the scream is actually because he's breaking hs toes.
-Tolkien was actually asked to change of the title of ROTK to ROTK. Which he didn't want to do because he felt it gave away the ending.
That's all I can think of at the moment, but I know a lot more

Let's see... here are some I've heard or read
-Viggo slept in the stable with the horse that would play Brego. He wanted the horse to trust him for the river scene.
-Viggo got so into his character that PJ called him "Aragorn" several times, and Viggo didn't notice.
-Billy Boyd said that, in the scene where Pippin and Merry light the firework, he had been told it would just crackle and spark. He screamed when it went off in his hands (which you can hear in the movie). Dom teased him about it.
-According to Dom, he got a "splinter the size of a house" during the Brandywine Bridge scene.
-PJ has a cameo appearance in each film.
That's all I can think of right now!

During the running scene in ttt Viggo, Orlando, and Brett all had injuries: Orlando with a cracked rib, Brett with a dislocated knee, and Viggo broke two of his toes when he kicked that helmet.
PJ said that the people that had made the armor put the chain mail together peice by peice, and it took the fingerprints off their fingers.

Yuck.
Just from watching, I've noticed that Bernard Hill is the only leftie.
Which makes him the coolest.
