Lowen moved her shoulder in small circles. It hurt, there was probably some damage done to a tenden, but the arrow head stopped most of the bleeding. She took a deep breath and struggled to her feet, pulling her bow off her back. Her mind told her not to fight, but her heart told her otherwise. She could not let the Northern Kingdom fall. Cleanching her teeth agains the pain she reached into her quiver and pull out a arrow.

Dagnir strode into the Road, Heartrender in hand. He had a huge war hammer in his other hand. He stood before the orc wildman host. He walked slowly towards the orcs, grimly intoning as he went, saying " I am the Hammer, I am the sword in his hand, I am the point of his spear, I am the gauntlet around his fist! I am the bane of his foes and the woes of the treacherous! I AM THE END!!"
Then, as at many battlefields before, the red haze blinded him. Fury took him to to a place far away. He rushed into the approaching tide, his blades flashing as they took lives. The hammer smashed shields and broke limbs. Only in this state of berserk power could Heartrender be used singlehanded, and the sinews about his neck and the veins on his head bulged like taut ropes. With every flashing stroke a foeman fell and dozens fell in testament, but the line of warriors was taking its toll. Dagnir was covered in a latticework of scratches and cuts. Soon, even that mighty man would falter, and fall.....

Her long sword in her hand she walked into the lines of enemies, anger written in her face, anger because of the men that would fall, her shoulder, the innocent lives that would be taken. With a scream she wielded her sword, killed as many as she could; knowing they were doing the wrong... but was she doing the right? Her gaze wandered across the field, she noticed Dagnir near her, but couldn't see anyone else.
"We cannot hold them!", she screamed, hoping Dagnir would hear her. "They will kill us, if we stay here!"

The red haze had taken Dagnir to another plane: He WAS the hammer, he was the end of all things. He was a God. He decided death or life. He slew half a score of orcs, but one with its death throes drove a spear into his shoulder. He mastered himself and returned to the normal world. His fury abated. He slung the hammer into the next wave of men and made a series of hand signals. Soon a flaming dart was shot into the air, and a storm of fire raked the orcs. Still, there would be butchers work left for the thristy blade of heartrender. He ignored the pain, but it was a dull ache in his shoulder....

Her eyes widened as she saw the burnig arrow hitting Dagnir's shoulder. She fought her way through to him and reached him just a second before he sank to his knees. She caught him and pulled the aroow out of his shoulder. He screamed faintly and tried to beat her, but she held him in her arms. The orcs next to them had run away, but they would be back soon. She carried him as far as she could and then shouted for help. Soon two soldiers came and carried him away. She tried to follow, but lost them...

Lorwen ran down the hill to into the battle, firing her bow as she went. She charged into the armys and drew her sword with her left had, for her right arm was numb now, rendering it useless. With a cry she drove her sword into the first orc and move on to the next one. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Dagnir fall...

Dagnir roared as two men tried to restrain him. The world was spinning. "I... want.... my..... hammer.." Dagnir shook of the two men and strode back into the fight. He cleft an orc's head to the teeth and punched another so hard its neck broke. He saw his hammer on the floor. He picked it up and felt pain in his other shoulder. Two arrows had hit him in his armour. They just managed to pierce it,and dagnir walked back to the two men, and there sank to his knees......

Venessiel's eyes searched through the soldiers, many returned bleeding or hobbling. She felt a pain in her ankle, but it seemed far ago. With a scream she finally found Dagnir on a makeshift bed and ran up to him. "My Lord!", she said, appelled as she saw his wounds. "My... my lord... what... what shall we do now?" She knelt down beside him and started to clean his wounds. A sad smile appeared on her face as she remembered him caring for her.

The Arnor troops were defending bravely the Road but the enemies were more then the expected. And when everything seemed to be lost,a horn was heard from the West.
Kelegwath rode as fast as he can.
"Form the lines!Bring them down!"shouted General Kanninwë."Don't let them pass the Road! For Arnor!"
The Wildmen didn't expected such furious and surprising attack. The horsemen cut into the enemy's hordes. So scattered, the Wildmen weren't so powerful. The fear overcame them.
"Now!Take them down!"screamed Kanninwë.
Everyone were surprised from her sudden arrival. After the General heard the news about Lorwen, she ran and saw that the enemy's count was larger then they though."The ambush won't help"thought she.She gathered her troops and they mounted their horses.

Dagnir lay on the earth. He was stumbling through the shadows of a fever, and the death stroked her cold hands across his cheek. He flickered in and out of conciousness......

His armour was covered in orc blood, and his sword flashed down, slashing at the exposed neck of the wild chieftain. The squads broke under the death of their captain. He took a whetstone and sharpened his steel blade in the lull of battle. All across the line, the enemy was disengaging and men took the chance to catch a breath, and prepare for the onset. His rank of sergeant was shown by his two blood red studs driven into his breastplate on the section covering his heart. He felt a tap on the shoulder, and turned around.
"Sergeant Arthan?" asked a young boy, around 15 years old.
"Aye, tis me. What do you want?" He replied
"The general wants you to come with me. There is something important to show you"
Sergeant Arthan Thunderfist was the companies best fighter, with a punch that could break any jaw. He was the Captain's main guard, and the best drill seargant in the whole army. He strode confidently behind the messenger, and saw three faces he recognised. Sergeants Damrod Blackmane, Berag Silvertooth and Torin Dragonfire.
And he fell to his knees when they reached their destination....
He saw the Captain lying on the earth. His chest rose slowly. He lived still, But he came close to the shades of death. Arthan felt hate boil up. He took the plated gauntlets from Dagnir's Hands and turned to the others
"We avenge our captain.I will lead, and we'll either come out victorious or we earn a place in the halls of the West." They nodded silently, and raised blades. The sergeant took up The gleaming blade Heartrender seemed to rejoice, and the runes inscribed there shone like flame. He bowed to the captain, and put his helm on. The sergeants under Dagnir formed a flying wedge around this new leader, the most fell of their warriors, and they charged with a great yell.

Lorwen heard Kanninwë sceaming orders to the troops, she couldn't make out the words. She saw the horsemen form there lines, and then the orders understood. I would be able to help them anyway, she though, my horse is no where near. They charged into the battle and she swung her sword fast, cutting down the enemy with lightning speed, determend not to let them pass.

She bowed her head down to listen to the words he said, but couldn't understand anything, so she covered him with a blanket. Then suddenly he started to sream. "Captain!... Captain!", he shouted it again and again, sweat ran across his face and his whole body twitched. Venessiel lent down and held him tightly. "It is okay, my lord. Nothing will happen to you. But sleep... you will need sleep. The soldiers out there need you, we all do. You must gain your power back, you cannot leave us alone, not now. Sleep, my lord. Sleep well...", she whispered again and then stood up to get a cloth. When she returned and placed it on his forehead, he breathed heavily, but had stopped shouting and twitching. Only his eyes winced now and then. She sat down next to him, wanting to keep an eye on him. As she sat there, worrying and wiping his sweat away with another cloth, suddenly weakness and weariness made her close her eyes. The cloth fell out of her hand and she had fallen asleep, even before her head sank onto Dagnir's chest.

The swift attack scattered the Wildmen horde and many of them fled back to the eastern banks of the river. The Road was safe..for now.
Kanninwë unmounted her horse. She saw Lorwen coming towards her.
"How are you,Lorwen? Are you hurt badly?"asked the General."And where's Captain Dagnir and Venessiel?"
"I will be fine,General, thanks you.But Captain Dagnir was bad injured during the battle,my lady."said Lorwen."He's back at the camp and Venessiel is with him."
"How serious is he wounded?"asked Kanninwë.
"I don't know my lady."
In this moment a messenger from Amon Sul came.He jumped from his horse and ran to the General.
"General,I bring news from Captain Magdil. He came back from his mission this morning and insists to meet you now."
Kanninwë looked at Lorwen and the soldiers. She was silent for a second but then said.
"Lorwen, get the wounded on horses and leave immediately to the fortress.I will meet you there. You will lead them! Now I must leave."
Kanninwë mounted Kelegwath and together with the messenger took the road to Amon Sul.

Arthan was now far ahead of the host. IN the woodlands on the left of the battleline the Second First's sergeants had cleft the whole enemy right into two and annihilated it. Breaths came in gasps and armour was dented. They gathered their breath, and blades were wiped on orc clothing. They now had the run of the enemies flank. Arthan smiled, his sergeants could cause chaos in that position. He took up his captains axe and said to his comrades "Warriors, brothers, you have all fought well, and hard. When we get back to Dagnir, we will make him drink to our deeds!" The sergeants smiled, and several nodded gravely, making silent fun at it. " Arthan, we are ready for the attack. I think tha we should do it now. And I expect to find the commander and carve his heart out and burn it before his eyes" said Blackmane as he grinned, his grizzled mane of black hair being shook out of his scarred face. Arthan nodded, and they readied themselves for the charge, again.
And they charged once more.
For their captain.....

"Yes, general," said Lorwen, walking off to help the wounded on to horses. She ended up with just enought horses for the people she found alone, and by the looks of it, so had the other soldiers. She wistled for Silmaran and the paint can trotting to her. Sticking her foot into the stirrup she mounted, pain coming back into her arm. I should get that airhead out soon, she thought to herself. But she knew if she pulled it out now the bleeding would start.
"Quickly," she yelled acrossed the battlefield, "We must ride to the the fortress!"

Venessiel woke up as Dagnir twitched again. As she stood up to watch for the others she found an empty place. Dead bodies, both orcs and humans, covered the ground, but she couldn't find any living person. The place was utterly quiet, she could her the wind blow in the branches above her. Slowly fear came over her and she sat down again. With her right hand she prodded Dagnir, then she whispered, almost hysterical: "My lord! They left. They left us alone. My lord! You must wake up, please!" Suddenly she heard a noise and jumped up... and looked directly into the eyes of an orc. He was almost dead, his left hand wasn't where it should've been and his leg seemed to be broken. With a startled scream she drew her sword and beheaded the creature.
Panic crept over her and she knelt down next to Dagnir again. She now poked him, but he didn't even show any reaction. And then she became calm, unbelievably calm. With the words "They left us", she stared into the darkness of the woods
