Ah, but we Brits do spend a good amount of time talking about the weather and the state of the roads, so I'm sure Alan would have no problem discussing such things with you, Eä. At least you'd sound more competent than I would. Prolly faint dead away, I would. [Hopefully right into his waiting arms.. ]
Aye, it's true that he's not much of a singer, but really, it's not the actually singing that lured me in, it's the richness of his voice. Truly, he has a very divine voice.
EDIT: By the way, has anyone got any info on AR's upcoming movie "Bottle Shock"?

Oh yes, indeed, I love and adore Alan's voice, with or without impediment (whatever he has?) I just noted that he does not sound like a trained singer, but of course it's different when he has to express a character... who's a fish!!!
The weather... well, I can do that... the state of the roads??? Oh my. *panicks and dives into google to do research*
Now you mention it, it would probably be easier to do the fainting... right into his waiting arms, lol
Bottle Shock? Never heard of it... I've barely learned about Sweeney Todd. Please, do tell more, I insist!

Aye, not sure about the impediment is more like a speech defect. He was born with it. Not like anyone can tell or anything.. but you're right, he definitely hasn't been trained in any professional singing.
*pat pat* He's gonna run out of arms to catch us if we all faint together...
There really isn't much out about it right now. It's a movie about wine, and that's all I really know. I'll let you know if I find out anything else.

Oh, no you don't! *tackles Inwe*
"Bottle Shock" has been coined as "the story of the birth of the Napa wine industry." Alan plays someone called Steven Spurrier. The movie is due out in 2008.

It's interesting because I've always thought that Napa Valley is in the US. Why have they cast a British actor for an American role? I guess you could say the same for Snowcake... hmm.

Hmm.. I think I've gotta name at least my three favourites, as it's impossible to decide on one.
1. Sense and Sensibility - I'm such a die hard romantic! I love stories where the bachelor-for-life gets the beautiful girl. Alan is amazing in this movie.
2. Robin Hood: Prince of Theives - He's so brilliant as an evil villain! Made me very sad when he died at the end, but nonetheless he did a fantastic job. <s> Totally wish I were Marian in that wedding scene...</s>
3. Harry Potter - Okay, I know that's really lame, but he owns every scene he's in. I'm not exaggerating. Goodness, they really need to give more credit to him.

I really can't decide which I love better: his role in Sense and sensibility or in Harry Potters. He's great in Love actually too. I love every role he's in^^ But perhaps Severus Snape is THE best because that role suits him so well. And I love Harry Potters anyway so...

Hmmm... I'm in the same boat with you Larel. I cant decide!
It'd be something like....
1-Harry Potter- JUST because i love Snape so darn much! And yes he DOES own every scene he's in. This is also the first AR movies i ever watched (I watched Robbin Hood when i was a bit younger and i didnt really care for it, ya know?)
2-Sense and Sensability- Because, i too, am a die hard romantic ane i just loooove him! He ACTUALLY SMILES in S&S! *Giggles*
3- Robin Hood- I loved this movie and really i cant put them in any order b/c i love them all equally. <3
i saw that Larel....

*shocked voice*
Larael!
Back off missy! He's mine!
Hmm.. well my favourite AR films would probably be completely different to my favourite AR roles, because although for instance Galaxy Quest the film is not his best, he was sooo good in it, that the role would be rated higher than the film. So my favourite roles would be:
1. Colonel Brandon (Sense and Sensibility) - I defy any female (or some blokes for that matter ) to not like him in this. The looks, the voice... the uniform... *drowns keyboard*
2. The Sheriff of Nottingham (Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves) - Ok, so he letting rip and he's hamming it up and he's over the top... but he's so goooooood he wipes the floor with everyone else and stands on them to boot.
3. Alexander (Galaxy Quest) - OMG, he was so unbelievably funny in this, he was a joy to watch. And it was so believable, what with his Shakepearean background, playing a Shakepearean actor who is only known for playing an alien in a Trekky-like show. *dies*
4. Snape (Harry Potter *retches*) - Ok, so I hate the films, but when I heard he was playing Snape my initial reaction was "p e r f e c t" and he is. Simple as that.
5. Hans Gruber (Die Hard)- Admittedly the film wasn't that much good (the un-edited parts of it that I saw) but he was sooo good as a German terrorist with sarcasm. (recently voted the best bad guy in a crime film ina British film magazine. Huzzah!)

You'd do the same, JF. I know you would.
I guess if I were to rate my favourites to include all his movies that I've seen, I'd have to add Mesmer in there somewhere [and Dogma, which I *cough* watched on YouTube].
4. Dogma - For some reason any time I've imagined the voice of God, it's sounded a bit like Alan's. Not trying to sound blasphemous or anything, as I'd never compare anyone to the Almighty, but that's how I imagine his voice to be. Very majestic sounding... anyway, he makes a very good angel, and his one liners are amazing. It really is an interesting, if not a bit controversial movie.
5. Mesmer - I've never seen anything like this. The story wasn't so good, but the director made wonderful use of AR's stunning hands. In every scene he's in there is at least one close up of them.
