I'm wondering if anyone else has seen/heard of this movie. this is what IMDB said the plot was:

Quote:
John H. Groberg (Christopher Gorham), a farm kid from Idaho Falls, crosses an ocean to become a Mormon missionary in the remote and exotic Tongan islands during the 1950's. He leaves behind a loving family and the true love of his life, Jean ('Anne Hathaway'). Through letters and musings across the miles, John shares his humbling and sometimes hilarious adventures with "the girl back home", and her letters buoy up his spirits in difficult times. John must struggle to overcome language barriers, physical hardship and deep-rooted suspicion to earn the trust and love of the Tongan people he has come to serve. Throughout his adventure-filled three years on the islands, he discovers friends and wisdom in the most unlikely places. John H. Groberg's Tongan odyssey will change his life forever. Written by Mary Jane Jones

I just saw it for the first time tonight at the movie rental store (I was originally looking for Aladdin but they didn't have it :annoyed2:).... and it actually looks like it could be a interesting movie also it has Anne Hathaway in it so that automatically attracted me to it. :P I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this and could comment on if it was good or bad before I go out and rent it. =)

Seen it and love it! It's been a while since I saw it, but I'd suggest you see it.. I don't agree with some of the mormon principles, but when I first saw it, I didn't really notice them.

thanks, I'll have to get to the movie rental when it's actually in then! :-D and I'm happy to hear the Mormon stuff isn't too in-your-face (no offence meant to the Mormons by that though)... I was just a little worried when I read the plot that it might be. anyway, thanks for telling me. =)

and by the way I love your sig set! Padme is beautiful in it! (and it's one of my favorite pics of her :teehee:)

do you mean mormon principles, or mormon doctrine? Because the lds church teaches that its members should live by just your basic christian principles like the 10 commandments. (ie: love thy neighbor)

now if you meant mormon doctrine then that's where things get... different. ;)

pretty good movie btw. Very well made for such a small budget. Kind of an emotional rollercoaster though with funny parts as well as sad parts. Not that that's a bad thing though...
