In the unfinished tales there is a story about "there and back again" that's been told from Frodo's point of view. Gandalf tells about what all happened and I found it really fun to read, since I did read the hobbit (before). It tells a lot of things the Hobbit or the lord of the rings didn't explain. Like why it was Bilbo that had to come along and how the relationship was between Bilbo and the Dwarfs. I really really really did enjoy it. I think it's the best part of the unfinished tales.

You mean "The Quest for Erebor" when Gandalf tells about how he came to send Bilbo off with the dwarves?
Love it! Absolutely love it! :) I thought it was hilarious, and I liked how it was from Gandalf's perspective...

My favourite is the line is Thorin to Gandalf, about Bilbo "but if you insist on burdening me with him, you must come too, and look after your darling."

It cracks me up, every time! :bounce:

Yes that's the one I ment.
Just like the story that comes after, the hunt for the ring, or something like that (I have the Dutch version) But I liked the queste better.

Yes, it's the hunt for the ring, that explains how Gullom got the ring and everything. It's the nice the way it fills in the gaps between The Hobbit and LOTR. I thought it was interesting, too.

Can you get The Unfinished Tales by Amazon & co.? Because I really doubt I'd find them in E.Center ... [that's a book store]

I've already bought the book :D Awwesome ...
Anyway - Quest of Erebor has some great quotes:

Quote:
"I know your fame," Thorin answered. "I hope it is merited. But this foolish business of your hobbit makes me wonder whether it is foresight that is on you, and you are not crazer rather than foreseeing. So many cares may have disordered your wits."

 What a choice of words.
