I thought it would be fun to see what everyones 5 all-time favorite movies are... so are you guys up for the challenge? (at least I think it's one because I'm not sure how to narrow all my favorite movies down to 5... and in order too. ) btw, trilogies and the like count as one.
here's my list:
1. Lord of the Rings
2. Pirates of the Caribbean
3. Little Women
4. Pride and Prejudice
5. (I really want to cheat and say 'PhantomoftheOpera (a new found fave)-MeanGirls-SpiderMan-UptownGirls-FindingNeverland-ConfessionsofaTeenageDramaQueen-SleepyHollow-NationalTreasure-Elizabethtown-StarWars-PrincessDiaries-Ect' but that would be cheating.... hmmm, there's sooo many good movies though. oh, I just can't decide! call me a cheater, but I really can't! )

Aggggggggh. Just five? My favorite movie depends on my mood.
Well, here are five movies that I will almost be obsessed with and ready to watch at any given moment:
1. LotR (of course)
2. Pirates of the Carribbean: CotBP
3. Phantom of the Opera
[2 and 3 are equal ]
4. Star Wars, any movie
5. Chronicles of Narnia
[4 and 5 switch positions routinely]
*Honorable Mention: The Princess Bride (I. LOVE. THAT. MOVIE.)
Wait! I forgot Pride & Prejudice! And Spider-Man! And I, Robot! (Yes, I love that movie.) And various animated Disney classics! And many other movies!
*Yes, I will cheat.

Don't we have a thread like this? Maybe not...

It's the most wonderful of Swedish films It's based on the book by Astrid Lindgren (Ronia the Robber's Daughter in English). It's about a child growing up in the wilderness in ancient times. She's the daughter of the chief robber and she befriends the son of the archenemy; the chief robber of the other band. Both of the chiefs want their children to follow their in their footsteps and become chiefs themselves one day but the two kids (Ronja and Birk) rebel against their parents, refusing to contribute to such violence and criminal acts and run away to the forest. It's full of adventure and ancient mystical creatures. A very wild tale!
I have made a video with clips from the film on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKCmrR6gymA

1. Phantom of the Opera (yes, smite me! It has overtaken LotR)
2. LotR
3. PotC
4. Hello, Dolly!
5. Pride & Prejudice
Also meriting mention is the Princess Bride, Singin` in the Rain, and the Sound of Music.
A lot of musicals, and all of them set pre-1940 or so.

withnail and i
i'm very proud to say that four of them are british, and the other has a british director and a british lead. three cheers for the british film industry!
timtimtimtim - i'm glad i'm not the only one on here who wouldn't put lotr in their top five. i feared i might get lynched, but safety in numbers and all that jazz.
