Ardhvyl dyei dor saa'ram, saa’ram dor virzaim.
Recorded in Archaic, the language of the elves, this snippet in a mostly-blank book dating from the time of the Great Rift, is a cryptic warning, one that no one heeded: Division leads to dissent, dissent to destruction.
The world of Jharani is, quite literally, split at the seams. Eons ago, when the world was yet young, elves, humans, dwarves, and many other races co-existed and lived in peace. A Council of Elders existed and worked in cooperation for the behest of each race, and individual kingdoms were ruled by independent rulers. Peace was a given in this golden age, and there was great progress. But, as it always is, something happened that changed the balance forever.
Enlightenment. The gift of the Creators.
Enlightenment was best described as ‘magic’, by the average people..and even the most intelligent accepted this belief. Whatever Enlightenment was, it led to greater progress...and a sense of dissention over the long years. Whomever was Enlightened was said to be blessed with immortality overnight, neither aging nor becoming sick after that point on. Some children were even born Enlightened, and these became the brunt of great jealousy and envy throughout their seemingly endless lives. Gifts were given to them with Enlightenment, ‘unnatural’ abilities, and these abilities varied vastly according to race, gender, and status in life..or so it seemed at first.
The scholarly began to study these individuals, trying to discern the source of their power, with little success..and increasing frustration. Dissent and rumor of violence had reached the Council of Elders, and upon learning the source of all this trouble, the Council decided to eradicate any and all Enlightened.
A total bloodbath ensued. Many Enlightened fell at the hands of friends - even family, in some cases - yet all the more of those that opposed the Enlightened fell as well. For how long this continued is uncertain, as any accounts of the time are fragmental and cryptic at best. The Great Rift was the eventual outcome.
Best described as some sort of cataclysm, the Great Rift was just as its name implies..a rifting of the world. Continent was ripped from continent, several of these being swallowed up by the seas, and in the end, after many long days of violent earthquakes and other such disasters, Jharani came to be divided completely...by race.
What followed that time of turmoil is unknown, as there are no known surviving records of the time, but one thing is certain, a time of rebuilding occured. This much was passed down through subsequent generations by familial legend and account, and after many long, hard years, a sense of normalcy was found. Kingdoms were reformed, the races were ‘replenished’, and the different continents began thriving again. This type of life continued for many, many generations, seemingly for time unaccountable, but...dissent is stirring again.
The races and continents, while having long assumed a state of (relatively) peaceful co-existence - as it was before the Breaking - are in turmoil once again. Rumors of wars are stirring again, and a shadow is spreading across the land...whatever is occuring, it is also becoming clear that the Enlightened are once again walking among the mortals(and immortals, in the elves’ case), but at all costs, they are hiding themselves. Little is it known that they are to play part in a greater conflict that is brewing beneath the surface...a conflict that may very well rip Jharani apart once again before something can be done.

Well. This was an old idea of mine, and I thought I'd reform it. The summary may seem daunting at this point, but this is mostly backstory. The main plot is still in the works, and suggestions or ideas are welcome. And as for characters..I have a basis in mind.
Enlightened, of course, from each race are welcome, and as for races, the staples are elves, humans, dwarves, etc. Other races are encouraged and welcomed. For now, I'm just going to make a list of the characters I can think of that will be needed.
Needed
Enlightened[5 or 6, possibly more]
Neutrals[those simply caught up in the turmoil, no real limit]
Antagonists[those responsible for the chaos in the world, no real limit]
Characters:
Enlightened:
-Raven Sparrow[Elf, Eryn] -Turwaithiel Swann[Shapeshifter, Drake] -Meldawen[Human, Jayen Tanner] -Elenya[Faoldan, Cu'scath] -Christian[Human, Avond] -Star Gazer[Elf, Quenlan] -Freya Baggins[Dark elf, Somni Rae Marath]
Neutrals:
-Nurrantiel Mashiara[Human, Thylar S'Doun]
-Aerlinniel[Elf, Niralya Orin]
Antagonists:
-Meldawen[Human/part elf, Eledhe Darkstar] -Nurrantiel Mashiara[Human, Mikol Roviny] -Aerlinniel[Human, Ityrl Kearl] -Freya Baggins[Human, Riun Sirien]

Oh, I am interested, but only if you will have me! I could be an Enlightened, but is it possible to be a Shifter? (shapeshifter as my race) If not, that's fine.

That's fine. I'm open to other races besides those I listed. And I'm glad you're interested, too.

Could I join as an Enlightened? If I may, I think I'll use a different race, and revive/revise one of my older charrie.

That's fine, Tur, but I forgot one thing. You can list whatever 'powers' your character has, as well. And of course, Elenya.

Eh, limits are just nothing too powerful. No death with a mere touch, no total mind control, etc. Aside from that, the abilities can be whatever you want them to be.

Oh...geez...well, I am male, a Shifter, and status....as in single? lol
Okay, my ablities will be healing, shifting/speaking to any form of an animal, and I can work with the element of fire.
(is the last one okay?)
