If any of the Welcoming Team would like to help promote the A-U Halloween Fest ( http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/forum/vie ... hp?t=16764 ), please do! A simple, "Hey, go check out the news! (LINK)" would be a great help so we mods can get an idea of how many people will actually be participating.

Thank you WT! :)

Our WotM for September is Aerlinniel ó Eressëa for her genuinely enthusiastic and exciting welcomes!

Congratulations Aerlinn! As something extra special for our Welcomer's of the Month Johnny's Fan and I have decided that a simple award is in order for each winner. Now, now, do not fret if you have already won the award. As there is not infinite number of WT members you are sure to win again and we will give you an award then. :)

As it is, here is Aerlinniel's award --

Well, this being the buisness thread, I'd thought I'd ask a question...

Does anyone who buddies acutally get to communicate with theirs? Generally after I send them a 'Welcome!' PM I don't hear anything from them at all. Is this normal, or do you guys actually get to talk, help, get to know your buddies, etc.?

^The general idea of the buddy/newbie relationship is that you do get to know each other. Make sure you do welcome them, but also form a relationship with them. Then the idea is that hopefully they will feel comfortable enough to ask you questions or continue to communicate with you.
But if they don't respond to your initial welcome and attemps to get to know them, then there's nothing else you can do. You don't want to be a pest, you know?

It's not easy, but then, that's why buddies are hand-picked.

...But that's just my opinion...JF and Larael know best, of course.

And even retired welcomators opinions are welcome of course, because they are usually just as right. :) Basically, what Gwen said is your answer. If you're buddy doesn't respond, it's probably best if you ask for a new one.

Yep, yep!

Of course, from experience, it's worse when you are getting sort of friendly with your buddy and then they just leave and never come back.

But as long as you know you tried to make them feel welcome, and tried to get to know them a little bit, then that's all good. :-)

So, is there anymore plans for any meetings on chat etc to be held in the nearby future?

I don't believe so at the present time Lammy. :-)

I think we would have to think very carefully before we had another chat, so we have as many people as possible attending.

If we all just wanted a random get together to be all hyper and fwee, there could just simply be a thread in the Misc. R section for that, and that would probably work, as we wouldn't have to worry about time zones and everything. One thread and you're away! :D
