Autumn had just turned to discuss where to go with Taur when something caught the corner of her eye. Something shiny, almost in a translucent way, had just passed across one of the halls. She knew she had seen it!...she thought, anyway. Maybe her brain was just messing with her.

No! She saw it again! Fear gripped her heart as she pointed toward the hall.

"Um...guys...maybe we should look over there."

"Did... anyone else just feel that draft?" she asked, sure she'd felt a sudden, icy-cold blast of wind from the hallway. "Yes, um, perhaps we should..." although every intinct told her not to.

Ælfthryth started humming to herself, already starting to get used to the whole ghost idea... it was pretty interesting to be able to float through walls, floors and ceilings. She then started whistling, bored and wondering where everyone was... it seemed as though they'd split and gone to bed or were walking around the house, like she was.

With a frightened glance at Taur, Autumn gripped her candlestick and made a first step in the direction of the hallway.

"H...hello?" she said in a quiet, shaky voice. Maybe it's just another party-goer...maybe?

Melda poked her head into the room after knocking a couple times more, and was met by the sight of...nobody. A large four-poster bed took up most of the room, opposite an ornate wardrobe. She looked around suspiciously, poked her head out again, and prodded the sign on the door. It wavered slightly, and turned to 'Rmmmmate Needed'. "Maybe I'll give it a minute," she muttered, and wandered further down the hallway.

Ælfthryth thought she heard a voice and she floated back through the wall that she just passed through. "Hello?" she said back, hoping that someone had come to keep her company. Her voice, she realised, sounded hollow and icy, unlike a regular voice of a human being. Must be part of the ghost image, she thought to herself with a chuckle. She glided towards the voices, forgetting already that she was silvery and drenched in red.

Equally frightened, Taur was afraid to ask... "W-what's that sound?"

(wow, you guys are hard to keep up with! )

"what?" PD scurried over to Taur and whispered. "why is it so quiet? What's happening? what-what's that shape moving toward" she paused and everyone could hear her gulp. "us?"

Taur clutched PD's arm with her free hand. (Her other was holding a candle-holder) "W-we d-don't know... y-you see it t-too?" Her eyes were wide, and she bit her lip to in an attempt to control the stuttering.

Seona was quite shaken after seeing Ælfthryth's body, and even more shaken after hearing Kitoky say it was an annual occurence. She was so shaken, she had to eat a couple of plates of food.

Even after that, her nerves weren't quite up to par. "I'm goin' ta go bed now, I think." she said to the few people still hanging around the dining room. "Let me know if ye find out anything tomorrow." She walked up the stairs, past several doors with blindingly lit neon signs, until she found an undecorated door and pushed it open. The room was fairly good-sized, with delightfully old-fashioned decor.

Autumn could hear the voices of Taur and Calloniel beside her, but they hardly registered. She was too absorbed in the image coming toward them to speak. She wasn't sure if it was fear or amazement that gripped her as she stared at the silvery figure...though as it approahced closer and closer, she became realtively certain that it was fear.
"Hello?" Autumn repeated, but she could hear no answer. And in a few moments, the person was answer enough.
Autumn's face turned pale. The figure was not yet close, and yet she had recognized the face.
It was a ghost. It was Ælfthryth!
Autumn wanted to turn and run. She felt a scream rise up in her but it was not released. Standing awestruck, she simply waited in a frozen stance for the ghost to speak.

Ælfthryth saw a few young ladies all standing in a huddle, gawking directly at her. Oh good, they WERE speaking to me! she thought cheerily.
"Hello!" she said loudly with a smile. "Where is everyone? Some idiot took a swing at me... so I sorta got lost for a while there... woke up under a doormat, can you imagine!" She chortled and approached them, wondering what on earth they were stuttering about.

Taur felt Autumn tense up even more, and wondered what the cause was. Then her eyes traveled from the blood-drenched clothes until... she saw the face. She gasped. It took all her strength to fight the scream.

Hearing the ghost speak was like another language... Taur didn't understand it at first. She caught, 'under a doormat, can you imagine?' To this she could only shake her head slightly.

As the ghost's cheery dialect began to reach Autumn's ears, her immense fear began to drift away, leaving a smaller fear and suspicion in its place. Nevertheless, she listened intently to what Ælfthryth was saying.

"What...who took a swing? What killed you?" Autumn asked, still stunned. "You...you are Ælfthryth's ghost?"

At the first sight of the blood-drenched clothes coming toward them PD had had all she could to keep even remotly sane and incontrol of her thoughts and nerves, but when she saw the face of the ghostly figure she froze and turned a deathly pale. She had a death-hold on Taur's arm. She was shocked by Autumn's bravery at actually talking to the ghost. In a barely audiable squeak came out the words "what are you doing?"
