Nauriel Rochnur wrote: That sounds amazing! I'll have to watch it on line though, because Sci-Fi doesn't show the "Children in Need" episode. Why is it called that anyway? Is it a fundraiser?
I know, I'm SOOOOO excited. But yeah, us Americans will have to watch it online. There was a special "Children In Need" episode that was like an extended version of the end of "Parting of the Ways." The quote in Shadowcat's quote is from it.
And you're right, it's a charity fundraiser thing for disadvantaged children. Really a neat program. Here's a link:

Ooh. Where to start.
@ Long flowy coats - Honestly, there is no article of clothing that is more delicious.
@ 10 and 5/Children in Need - Heard about that. Yeah, I'll need to watch that online. That's going to be awesome.

okay, quick catch-up since i haven't been in here in a while...
yes, long coats are indeed amazing. i went to the theatre on saturday and completely fell in love with the leading man, who wore a long overcoat for a great deal of the play. the funniest thing is, i'd already seen the actor in two plays and not fallen in love before. i liked him in both plays, but not enough to cause me to swoon, but suddenly with the coat he was a lot more attractive. now that is proof that long coats muchly increase a guy's sexiness. although, of course, it wasn't just the coat - the three piece suit, the hat, and the middle-class english accent all helped too.
and coming back from my own personal fantasy where all men look like the guy in the play...the children in need thing sounds cool. but wouldn't create a paradox which would let the reaper demons in again?
anyway, the real reason that i came in here was to tell you guys about last night. paul cornell, who wrote father's day, human nature and the family of blood, did a question and answer session at my university, so i though you guys might be interested in what he said. here are some of the things i remember:
* doctor who is guaranteed for another three years - there'll be another series next year, three one-off specials in the year after that, and then another series the following year
* paul said that he thought the reason they were doing three one-offs instead of a complete series was to allow david tennant to play hamlet at the royal shakespeare theatre, so it seems that he'll still be playing the doctor in the specials and we can't expect the eleventh doctor to arrive for at least another two years. (i also found that piece of information rather interesting as it means i now have plans to take a trip to stratford to see tennant play the dane)
* paul has vowed never to write a storyline involving a paradox ever again, because it caused so much confusion during the making of father's day. apparently the producers etc spent hours drawing diagrams and scratching their heads, trying to figure out how it worked. i can just imagine the meetings...
* random fact: the hymn the characters sing in gridlock is david tennant's dad's favourite hymn (tennant's father is a bishop)
* paul also talked a lot about the nature of fandom, which he described as the "island of bullied children". he said that love and monsters is all about fandom, and about how it can be a better life, even if it is unusual. he also said that for that reason, hardcore fans don't like it - it's too close to home. (personally, i can think of other reasons why fans wouldn't like it - poor writing and shocking acting, for starters)
he said loads more, but i'm too sleepy to remember it all right now, and this post is already long enough. i think i may have even beaten MB!

More on coats - So, not every guy who wears a long coat is uber sexy. I saw a bunch of guys in downtown Chicago wearing long coats, and only one of them was good looking. The other ones were all oldish guys who look like my English teacher.
ethelfleda - I am insanely jealous of you.
Doctor for another three years? That's good. Of course... a not-complete series? That will be sad. I like complete serieses. Oh well. Atleast we'll still have David Tennant. Can't David just stay exactly the same forever and ever and ever and be the Doctor forever and ever and ever?
Yeah, I could comment on every little bit of your post. But I won't. Because I'm supposed to be doing homework.

Gaaaah. Long flowy coats....*is distracted*....*cough* UMMM....
Shadowcat, I will say this....you're right. Not every man in a long, flowy coat is attractive. But it seems most who wear them have their attractivness greatly increased. AND, I think it has something to do with the coat as well. Not all long flowy coats are cool. And some just don't look good on guys. XD
And I agree...David should just stay forever and ever and ever...and ever....and ever....XD
ANYWAY, Ethelfleda I am SOOOOOO jealous of you right now. I was when you first said you were going to see him! I knew about the three one-offs because of David's role in Hamlet. Good for David for being in Hamelt!! Even though I despised that play. XD Just because it was rather dull....well, sort of. I enjoyed it...but I didn't. Maybe it was the Mel Gibson movie that made me hate it so. XD Actually the only reason I got through the play was because of ANOTHER play...."Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead." Hands down better than Hamlet. XD XD XD And the movie with Gary Oldman is AMAZING!!! Mainly because Gary Oldman is UBER SHMEXY in it! XD Well, he always is. I'm getting off topic now....
But that's nice to know that we're going to have Doctor Who for at least a while longer!!!
And I didn't know David's dad was a bishop! That's really sweet! The whole hymn thing I mean. XD And that's a really interesting note about fandom/"Love & Monsters." Which admittedly wasn't my favourite episode, but I mean...ELO in Doctor Who and Marc Warren. XD LOVE!
And that's funny that he said that about "Father's Day"/paradox stories. Becauae "Father's Day" is probably hands down my ALL-time favourite episode. I mean, every episode with Jack rivals it...but, doesn't beat it in my opinion. XD So, he should be happy that at least one fan counts it as her favourite episode! XD
About the Children In Need special....that's a good point you bring up! But, wasn't there that Classic Who episode/movie thing about the 5 Doctors? I can't remember it all....XD It'll be interesting to see how it's done...and what in fact happens. OOOH! Me is excited!!!
And I think you did beat me, Ethelfleda! XD Ha ha ha ha ha! And I need to goooo......I'm procrastinating by posting....gaaaaaaah, have a test in a couple hours.

Slightly off-subject random musings!
Number One - Was it here that we were discussing whether or not Jack or Martha or whoever had the laptop in 'The Sound of Drums' got mad at Doctor for taking it apart? Because I remember reading some postings somewhere where people were wondering what they thought about Doctor dismembering the laptop. And I was thinking about that. I mean, I'd be pretty ticked if somebody took apart my laptop. Well... I guess if it was the Doctor taking it apart... maybe I wouldn't mind all that much.
Number Two - In 'The Empty Child,' when Rose and Jack are on top of the spaceship, they're drinking. So what would happen if, say, Rose and Jack get waaay too intoxicated? (Hey, it's possible.) Couldn't one of them just walk off the edge and fall down a couple hundred feet to their death?
Heheh. Yeah. Welcome to my mind, guys.

Shadowcat, you make me laugh! That would be extremely funny, even if it is a bit morbid.
 I think Rose would be the one to get intoxicated. Sure, Jack would definately be the one to drink more, but I have a feeling he can hold his alcohol a bit too well.

Shadowcat, you're so silly!
You know, I think you wouldn't need to be intoxicated to fall off that thing. XD Well, I wouldn't. It'd totally freak me out.
But, intoxicated Jack and Rose is a funny thought. Ha ha ha ha ha.
So, the lot of you probably know about the Children In Need special. Well, it airs this Friday. Lucky for the Brits. PSSSH. Ha ha ha ha.
ANYWAY, I stumbled across the advert for it and it made my day. It's not long...the Doctors' appearance is brief...but FANTASTIC!

Rubby rubby.
What I would give for that to be done to me.

Wow. Watching that 5 seconds of 10 and 5 has made my day. It'd better be online, because I'll need to see it.

Yes! DO have any idea how happy this makes me? To have the Doctor, Donna, and Jack, al togeather! Its a plethora of goodness!
In Brit Lit today we were looking over some sonnets...guess which one I found?
Sonnet 130, Shakespeare.
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses demasked red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in her breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hatch a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go:
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she, belied with false compare.
I really wanted to say "bite me, alien boy" after I read it. I had to contain myself. I think I'll watch that Catherine Tate sketch again.
Hey Shadowcat! I printed out your "specs appeal" banner, and now its hanging in my locker. I just want you to know that you have made my like quite a bit happier. I look and my locker and see: Specs appeal! And I think. Heck yes!

Hurray for Captain Jack!! Although, it's no surprise to me. I figured they couldn't write him off. I mean, with Martha appearing on Torchwood and THEN back to the Doctor ... I figured Jack would have to make some sort of appearance. XD I mean, you can't remove Jack....ever.
Nauriel, that's TOO freaking cool that you found that sonnet!! I always wondered what sonnet it was. I've never been a huge Shakespeare fan, but whatever. That's an amazing sonnet. If ever I get the chance to recite it, I'm going to say "Bite me, alien boy!" right afterwards. XD Thanks for sharing! What a great thing to stumble upon!!!
I didn't screencap anything...BUT, found this: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c356/MontanaBohemian/07.jpg
OKAY. OH my *many many many many many curse words* god.
SO, I went to the BBC Official page just to bum around. XD I do that from time to time. And I knew the Children in Need episode WOULD be posted online, but not this soon. Sadly, I couldn't watch it on that site. *tear* That's because I'm not in the UK. Ha ha ha ha. How dreadful. BUT, I bummed around the world wide web a bit, and lo and behold I found it. On YouTube. *worships YouTube *
I was practically hyperventalating after I watched it. Yes. I watched it. And I think that's because I don't remember breathing whilst watching it. XD It's AMAZING!!
For those in the UK, you CAN watch it on the official page. And there's ALSO a behind-the-scenes bit too. Which I didn't get to work. *tear* I HATE being in America. XD I'm going to try and find THAT online as well. I just haven't had the opportunity. Kind of freaked out. XD
BUT, in the mean time, I'm going to post the link HERE!! *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
5 is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!!
"Oh no. You're a--a--a FAN."
"You're MY Doctor." *SQUEEEE*
