Series: Stargate Atlantis
Season: After Acastus Kolya is killed in Season Three
Morin Vorlun waved the last of his resistance forces into place, noiselessly unlocking the safeties on their tranquilizer guns, forming a perimeter on the balcony surrounding the small reception hall. It was vital that nobody was killed; Vorlun, successor to Acastus Kolya, needed Ladon Radim to give him legitimacy; and the visiting Tau'ri contingent to stave off the allied Tau'ri in the city of the Ancestors.
Vorlun was exchanging greetings with the Tau'ri leader, Sheppard, now, clasping his arm and even joking a little. The rest of the Atlanteans - the doctor, the astrophysicist, and the Satedan Runner - (does somebody want to take Teyla? or is she just sick ) were arrayed behind him, a little wary, but overall at their ease.
All eyes of the resistance were on him. Vorlun raised a hand briefly, then chopped it down.
The hiss of ten darts launching caused the party below to look up, alarmed, but by then it was too late. Vorlun's men were accurate and efficient. They threw themselves back from the balcony railing as Sheppard, the Satedan, and two of the Genii managed to get a shot apiece from their weapons, but the tranquilizer serum was fast-acting.
"All right." Vorlun thumbed his radio. "Clean it up down there. Send the message to the Atlanteans and then take the Gate offline."
More renegades entered the reception area below, cuffing the unconscious prisoners.

Colonel Steven Caldwell, commander of the Earth ship Daedalus , stared at the Atlanitis Expedition commander in disbelief, then professionally shook himself out of the shock. "So you're telling me, Dr. Weir, that the Genii have had yet another coup?"
"Yes, Colonel. What's more, they're holding Colonel Sheppard, Rodney McKay, Carson Beckett, and Ronon as insurance against our interference."
"And after sending you this message, the Genii renegades severed all contact and disappeared off of the gate network."
"That's correct. We assume that they disabled their gate. I've been in contact with home command about this; they took a few days to decide, but the consensus is zero tolerance for this coup. We need the Genii, Colonel, and we need them intact. We can't let a small band of renegades take matters into their own hands."
"And my orders?"
"Insert a team. Bring our men home. We've got people working on a comprehensive response strategy, but we need to take away their leverage first."
"One problem, Dr. Weir. You know we just left Atlantis; we have supplies for the journey home, but that's it."
"We'll restock you when you bring them back. Just bring them home, Colonel." Elizabeth Weir's image blinked off the screen.
"Well, isn't this a to-do," Vala Mal Doran commented brightly.
Caldwell sighed. The woman had been getting on his nerves for the majority of this trip from and back to Earth, and he'd been looking forward to parting company with her. Maybe he could send her down with the insertion team; he'd have a chance to breathe. While he wasn't worried about his men getting shot up.
Okay, that's the intro! Let's keep a reasonable RP rate - definitely no more that two posts per day
If you feel you have to, post a bio, especially if you're not canon. Otherwise, if you're newer to SG, http://www.stargate-sg1-solutions.com/wiki/ is a great resource to characters, technology, and worlds.
Character list:
Lt. Col. John Sheppard - Valera Elenhathel
Teyla Emmagan - ?
Dr. Rodney McKay - Elenya
Dr. Carson Beckett - Nauriel Rochnur
Ronon Dex - Nymphadora Tonks
Vala Mal Doran - Phoenix
The~Doctor and Lor En Estel, I was thinking your charries could be part of the insertion team, along with Vala? or Teyla is not taken at this point.
Major thanks to Lor En Estel for seeding the RP idea! It's not exactly what you were suggesting, but I think it works as a tighter RP this way. Right, let the games begin! The away team has been in captivity for a few days now, and the Daedalus is on the way to the as-yet-unnamed Genii homeworld, so the insertion team is prepping. PM me with questions or complaints

(I suppose I should have said 'go' more explicitly - GO!)
John Sheppard sat with his back against the rough concrete wall and checked his watch, one of the few things the Genii renegades hadn't taken away from him. It should be lunchtime soon. If it was lunch. Down here, in the depths of ... whatever building it was ... time didn't have much meaning.
In lieu of sitting, he soon turned to pacing, to the constant annoyance of Rodney McKay, who appeared to find it distracting. But he had to keep in shape somehow. John firmly believed that, as a prisoner, it was his sole duty to escape, which would become slightly harder if he'd wasted away from muscular attrition.
The usual initial escape attempts had been thwarted, to his profound disappointment. His team had been reduced to observing the guards' routines and conjecturing among themselves - and playing a heck of a lot of word games. Hey, a guy had to do something.
"So ..." Sheppard tapped McKay on the head as he passed him, pacing. "Anything new cooking up in that world-saving brain of yours?"

McKay frowned as Sheppard paced by him. "Yes, I have several ideas, actually. All of them are brilliant, I might add, but they all call for either a weapon of some sort, explosives, or a zed pm."
He shifted to a slightly more comfortable position on the ground. "So, if you let me work, I'm sure I can think of something more practical."
After a moment, he glanced at his watch. "Isn't about lunch time? I can't work when I'm hungry." Without waiting for an answer, McKay stood and walked to the front of their cell, staring out. "You'd think somebody would have come by now." He turned back around and looked at the others in the cell. "A team from Atlantis, Genii, somebody."
He went back and sat down with his back to the wall, impatienly watching Sheppard pace.

OOC: While I work on the bio, a question. Could my character be the leader of the insertion team (highest ranking or whatever)?

Ronon stood in the corner of the cell, watching Sheppard pace back and forth.
He shrugged at Rodney's comment's, "Just think of something, so I can get out, and find my gun," he said, going back to watching Sheppard pace. He sighed, bord, and layed his head against the stone wall.

Carson jolted up from the ground as his consciencness came back in a flash. A deep throbbing pounded through his head, and his mind felt slow and cloudy. I feel sedated he thought clumsily. Slowly, as though a fog were clearing, memory prior to his blackout eeked into his mind, and he realized he was in fact sedated. He had felt a pinch in his right shoulder, and when he glanced at it he saw a red tuffed dart. The dart was gone now, but his shoulder ached where he had been injected. The doctor blinked rapidly and looked around, seeing the rest of the team in the same cell like room as him. He glanced at his team, letting his gaze do the talking.

((It's ok with me! And here is my bio.)
Name: Giada Abair
Age: 35
Rank: Major
Appearance: http://www.blandranch.net/Files/Giada.JPG
History: ((Do you care if I don’t put this?))
Random: When she gets very angry her eye twitches. She loves Chocolate and peanut butter.

"Ok, the ride has just started. You should not be this bord." Major Giada Abair sat back in her chair and looked around the cafeteria with a sigh. She really hoped this was not a sign of how the whole trip would be back to home.
And actually it wasn't. An hour or so after feeling as though she would die of boredom before the trip was over Giada found herself prepping for a mission to rescue Col. Sheppard's team from the Genii. "I knew they shouldn't trust those people," she muttered under her breath as she did a second go over of what she had packed and what she needed.

The tramp of boots in the corridor outside heralded the arrival of their meal. But it was abnormal - usually it only took one man to slide their plates into the cell. There were three this time.
Suspicious but not showing it, Sheppard took it in his stride, leaning casually back against the wall of the holding chamber. "Well, it's about time," he drawled, casting a lazy eye over the Genii officer, flanked by two guards. "What? No dinner? You can't starve us, you know ... that's no way to treat allies."
The officer ignored him, signalling the guards to open up the barred door. He entered, holding what John could only assume was a videorecording device. "We'd like to send a message to your people," he began without preamble, and it was definitly more of an order and less of a protest. "So if you would each record a statement, this will be over painlessly." He glanced around at the team, focusing the camera and obviously expecting cooperation. "Let's begin."

Ronon stayed in the corner as the men walked in. He stopped leaning against the wall and straitend up, studing the guards. He threw a quick glance at Sheppard, then went back to watching the Genii carefully.

Major Abair paced back and forth. Time was precious. Where was her commander? Every once in a while she'd stop and stair at the door tapping her foot. "Come one," she muttered and went back to pacing. It was times like this she wished she could whistle.

OOC: Sorry for taking so long, I was sick over the weekend.
***
Name: Seamus Zelazny Harper
Age: 39
Rank: Let Colonel
Personality: Shamus is a ‘by-the-book’ kind of soldier. Unfortunately for his commanding officers, the book is more of than not, his book instead of the military’s.
Appearance: Harper has high, angular cheekbones with an equally angular nose. He has bright, intelligent green eyes and close-cut brown hair.
Random: He practices Kali to supplement the normal martial training he has received due to his profession in the military.
***
Hope that's all alright.
IC: Harper walked into the bay, slapping a magazine into the P90 strapped to his chest. "Everyone ready," he asked.

Abair stopped pacing and spun on her heels. "Ready, Sir." She paused, "Permission to speak my opinion, Sir?" There was a reason she asked. Abair had very strong opinions (a factors that had almost kept her from graduating.) and the Genii was a subject she had formed an opinion. Harper had the fortune of being the first person she had come in contact with that she could give said opinion to.

Seamus braced himself. "Permission granted," he said cautiously, wondering what this would be about.

"Sir," she started, "I would just like to say that I see the Genii as the most untrustworthy and unstable people I have ever met. The capture of Sheppard and his team was foreseeable and could have been stop making this whole little jaunt of ours unnecessary." Abair had started pacing again half way through her little, err, tantrum. A nervous habit she'd picked up. When she was done she spun back around to face Seamus.
