Well I think if we are going to be a bit pushed for graphics contests, we probably shouldn't bother with them, people might not want to be making things Christmas week anyway. I don't see a problem with a carol contest LOTR style though.
Masquerade - 22nd and 27th
Revealing of Secret Santa - Would be nice for the 25th or the 26th, no later though if possible.
Snowball fight - 26th
Christmas tree decorating - 23rd
Gift Exchange - I'm not really sure how that is going to work yet, so I don't know about a date.
Carols - 24th

All right this is now the Gift Exchange works.
Everyone who attends the Ball brings one gift (discluding dates because.... I don't think Norrington would be so inclined). Each person who attends will receive a number, scrambled. Then from the list that I've compiled with the substitution of numbers, someone picks a number and I say, "Okay, this number is .... Johnny's Fan. Johnny's Fan, please explain your gift to so and so."

Right... so it's not like the SS and a real gift? I could say you to Kit, have a date with Hector. Is that right?

No, it's not like the SS or a real gift. It's just an off-handed activity to be giving and nice around Christmastime.
And does the person "running" the ball usually have a date? [shrug] I don't know, we'll see. A problem I have with fangirling fictional characters is that I always die-hard ship them with someone, so it's hard.

What day(s) do you want to do the Christmas Tree decorating in the grand hall? - The first day would make sense.
What day(s) do you want the snow ball fight / Snowman building contest on? The 26th, I think. Then it'd be like a white Christmas! Though I like Elenya's idea of having an ongoing snowball fight and then on the day we decide we could have the snowman contest.
What day(s) do you want the Gift Exchange on? Do you mean the White Elephant thing or just general gift giving? I like the idea of the White Elephant. My 5th grade class did that once. Anyway, the gift giving and receiving should probably occur on Christmas Day!
What day(s) do you want the Secret Santa Guessing on? I'm not signed up for that, but I would suggest Christmas Eve.
What day do you want the Caroling to be on? The 22 or 23.
How's the masquerade going to work?

Basically, everyone changes their name + banners, sigs whatever and disguise themselves for the Masquerade. No cheating either, so everyone is in the agreement not to go into the user's profile to find out who they are and spoil the secret.
I'm not quite sure on the -details-, maybe someone will post and explain what all they did last year.

I always thought you did it in Chat on the main AU website... Of course, I wouldn't know really because I didn't do it last year. But, I always thought that was how they did it...

Last year we went about the regular Yule ball threads [as our different people] and then had a separate thread to unveil/guess as to who we were.
Which means you probably shouldn't refer to yourself as you normally do during the ball. And people are on their honor to not look back through the pages to see what you were saying earlier.

If that is the case, than the Masquerade only lasts one day? If not and it's for the whole ball, than how are you going to know who your "date" is if you went with a real person?

Okay, I think I remember parts of that from last year. So we're going to put our "masks" on the 22nd, take them off at the end of the that day, then put them back on on the 27th?

^That's correct. Each day a thread will be open for guessing who is who, and we reveal who is who at the end of the 27th where the thread will be left open.

No, you are masked for two days. Once on the 22nd, and the other on the 27th. On the 27th, you spend the entire day masked until you reveal who you are in the thread that will be put up.

So, if we're masked on the 22nd and post, and then unmasked until 27th, than, couldn't someone go back to our posts and see who we are?
*still thinks it would be easier and less complicated if it was in chat*

[Some of us are not able to access the chat.]
All Yule Ball participants are bound to a code not to peek and look for past posts because that would spoil the fun and purpose of the masquerade.
