So, I know this movie is already out in the USA, but I haven't really heard many opinions of the movie besides from those who are paid to give their opinions. Was it good?

I saw it, the new version that is. And I thought it was pretty good. Of course, I'm a wee bit partial to Christian Bale. But if I can sit through a movie with Russell Crowe (whom I'm NOT a fan of) and enjoy the film....then I think it has something.
It's a very well done film. The actors give great performances and its really intense. I'd suggest you see it. I never pay attention to what critics say. It's THEIR opinion, and who says what they think is right? So, I'd recommend you see it. I thought it was good.

I'm a big fan of both Christian Bale and Russel Crowe (they're my two favourite actors), so....I've no doubts that I would enjoy their acting.
How was the music? That's a major factor in whether or not I enjoy a movie, too.

My grandma saw the new one, and says it's one of her favorite westerns.

I want to see it... though perhaps an edited version, I haven't read a review on it yet but know the rating is pretty up there.

I just saw it last night and it was brilliant. I adore Christian Bale as well, but the actor who really stole the show for me was Ben Foster as Charlie Prince. He was just too perfect as that wonderfully creepy, sadistic psychopath. *Shudders*
Aerandir: The music was great. As soon as I've got the money I'll be buying the soundtrack.

I just saw it today, and I really liked it.
I like westerns in general (although this and Open Range another favourite, are the only westerns I've seen that have been made in the last 30 years) so I have seen the original, and obviously things are different (although it was nice to see some very similar scenes) but I like them both.
I'm not sure the swearing was really needed myself. It didn't add to it, nor did it make me feel it was being made more realistic. It was weird how much swearing there was in the first 40 minutes, in places where a "hell" would have sufficed, and yet in places where something slightly stronger may have been called for.... *zip* ...
I thought both Russell Crowe and Christian Bale were good, although Bale's character didn't really come into his own until the last 20 minutes when we learnt what a tough cookie he was. I think Ben Wade was just as good in this film as he was in the original - you have to like him, you really do. Yeah he's bad but there is good in him as well.
The ending was awesome. The last chase with Wade and Dan, when Wade was the one looking out for Dan and helping him, it was uplifting in a stupid way. He didn't have to help, but he did. And the finale.... I knew it was coming, but I loved it all the same.
The music was really good as well, I don't normally notice, but this time I did. It was understated, which I liked.

I've seen the newest one with Christian Bale and Russel Crowe.
It's really good. The ending is terribly sad, but I really liked it.

The ending I found to be very satisfying. I would have liked it if a certain person hadn't snuffed it, but it made sense to have the ending how it was, it just made it better I think.

^ I agree, but it made it seem more real, and that life is precious.
I loved Christian Bale's character, and how he seemed like an actual person, he wasn't famous, like Ben Wade, and so he was human, and you could identify with his need to protect his family and keep his farm.
I knew i recognized Ben Foster (Charlie Prince), he played Warren in X-3. Haha, he's very good looking.

I think also after all the goodbye's and everything, it would have seemed a bit odd, if he had survived.
Hah, it was only after my brother told me who he was, that I could then see for myself that he was in X-Men. I knew as soon as I aw his character, and just the black gloves and the way he was sitting on his horse, he was going to be evil. And it's strange because he is only a slip of a guy, so he's got where he is, but being ruthless not by being big and tough.

I completely loved this movie. I'm not really a fan of westerns, AT ALL, but I'm a bit in love with Christian Bale and Russel Crowe, so it evened out.
And did anyone else notice the random character that was played by Luke Wilson?

Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson look nothing alike.
But he played Zeke. He was some random character at the mines or whatever. He had like two minutes screentime. It was weird.
