I think Kit was using sarcasm to emphasize the confusing, hop-around-talking that lady Earwen does.
Well, there hasn't been huge talk on Becoming Jane so it doesn't look like it really hit off that much, video rental maybe?

Donald Sutherland was bloody wonderful, in that---but then again, that was the first film I had ever seen DS in.

*bump BUUUUUUUUUMP bump*
Hi guys!
Dahling Ea informed me of this club as we were having a discussion of Jane Austen adaptations in the film section.
So, I'd LOOOOVE to join! I've been a huge fan of Jane Austen for as long as I can remember. And I blame that on my mother. XD Actually, what I blame is the introduction of Jane Austen who has since ruined the male sex for me. BAH. And turned me into a hopeless romantic. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
ANYWAY....
Can I join?

*pokeths club*
It lives!
Lovely to see you, Monty! Welcome to the club!
So, has anyone here read all of Jane Austen's novels? I got the complete collection for my birthday in October, but I'm ashamed to admit I still haven't gotten around to reading them all. And have any of you heard of Lady Susan? Apparently it's a novel that Jane Austen began writing but never finished. I dunno, but it's part of my collection as well... *shrugs*

I've read Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice and Emma. I started reading Persuasion, but I had been reading book after book after book for 10 months, and my enthusiasm for reading was starting to wane, and I never finished it.
I got a set of her books last year, but it doesn't include the novel she was working on when she died. If it is incomplete, I don't suppose there is much point releasing it really.

Emma? Really? I wish I could say the same, however I found Emma [the character mostly] to be insufferable and her match-making skills to be rather annoying. Actually, when I finished it I couldn't help feeling a bit sorry for Mr. Knightley for marrying her.
My favourite was Pride and Prejudice, until I read Sense and Sensibility.

Aw, that's a shame.
You have to remember Emma was an only child, she had no sisters and only her elderly father for company, who was trying to say the least. I think she must have been very lonely, and perhaps matching people up, when she herself was certain she would never get married, was her way of making herself busy and giving her something to do as well, in her mind, assisting her friends.
I always like the scene where she had a child in her arms and Mr. Knightly commented on how well she looked with a child. It surprised me that Emma would like children, and yet she really did.
I think of all the heroines in Jane Austen's world, Emma needed to make the most changes, and I believe she did. She was a flawed character, and it took the entire book for her to realise the mistakes she had made, and the way she could correct them.

Well, that certainly takes it to a level I hadn't even thought of. I don't even remember that scene. Maybe I should go back and read it in a different light...
[You may have me convinced on this one, JF. ]
S&S will always be my favourite though. It's such a classic, almost fairytale-esque story.
