Those aren't bad! One thing I'd suggest is to make the dark areas darker. That really helps bring out the lighter areas and really makes things look 3D.

Those are really good if you're just starting off. And I know they're just sketches, but if you want to do final portrait pieces, you can make a copy of the photo you're trying to draw and use squares to help proportion out things. =D It's fun.

I like the eyes alot. Especially the last one. Far better then what I can do.
