Mariko grunted slightly, under the impression that he was baiting her as a child. Her instincts screamed at her to attack with her dark magic and to break his rope. But what if it does not break? a small voice whispered to her. Patience is a virtue of the shinobi. If you attack now and fail, you will not be able to catch him by surprise again. You have revealed too much about yourself already. Bide your time and when the moment is right, then strike. Mariko forced back a sigh and bit her lip before speaking, knowing that it would be utter humiliation for her to just blatantly surrender, yet at the same time she was not in the mood for another battle. "What choice do I have?" she replied, struggling to keep her voice impassive as she felt a bitter taste fill her mouth.

"Well, we could fight until one dies or surrenders, but by then I'll be missed and reinforcements would be on their way. Either way, things don't look so good for you," Yashamaru replied, wondering what this shinobi would choose. Most other opponents he'd fought would fight, so he was prepared for anything...

Mariko powered up her dark magic, and a dark ball appeared in her free palm, which she readied to hurl at the shinobi at any minute.

Is that truly what you want? a voice questioned her.
I have no intention of just surrendering to an opponent-to do such will bring dishonor.
And more hatred. You always said you wanted the conflict to end.
What good does surrendering do?
And what of senseless fighting? How much more are you willing to lose? You say your life, but what of your friends-your leader's daughter? Would it not be wiser to keep an eye on them?
How can I be sure he will lead me to them?
He seems honorable enough. You said you wanted change-mayhap you should augment it. And if that fails, you may learn information about them which you can use to aid your clan

She looked upon Yashamaru icily, knowing that his words were true. She could fight him-perhaps even to a stand-still, but precious moments would be lost, moments where Cora... she stopped the dark thoughts then, not wanting to hear them any more. Drawing a deep breath she knew that she was about to break the code, to surrender in the hopes of finding quicker access to her friends.

"Fine," she replied coldly, allowing the dark energy to dissipate. "You win, for now..."

(I know technically I should not have surrendered as I just had her dishonor herself but

1. I wanted to make her different from the other characters so she would stand out a bit more in Yashamaru's mind. Bleeh-I probably could have done a better job writing it to so it would less dishonorable for her, but my brain was fried.

2. The fact that she knows she committed such an act of dishonor will probably be 'baggage' now for her character-might make it more fun

3. The rper/author was a bit lazy to do another battle. *glances at her characster* So sorry Mariko. )

Yashamaru wasn't expecting that answer. Though, from the breaf silence, he could tell Mariko was debating herself on what to do. Suddenly, the moment felt awkward. Now, he wasn't completely sure of what to do. Never before had anyone just simply surrendered.
"That's an unexpected answer. But, it's not completely dishonorable. I'll take you right to Aiko and Cora instead of taking you to the dungoun, if you drop your weapons," he said.
What are you doing? he thought to himself. This isn't protocall. Captives go straight to the dungeon, and you don't even know where Koruda and Zutao are keeping the two Iako. Though, this Iako seems... different. Even so, I shouldn't be going so easy on her.

Mariko sighed but dropped her smoke bombs and shuriken. However, she was reluctant to surrender her sword, understanding that it symbolized the soul of a warrior and to relinquish it willingly would be enough to dishonor her as a soldier.

Zutao's ahnd went unconsiousely to his katana. "She was the target remember" he gestured to Cora "And how do you prepose a dead body was going to tell me what we wanted hn? She was only going to tell me if i got her gaurd down." he growled, speaking his prepared story for the event in which Kuroda would use it against him. "I care nothing about her; she was just a source." The tempreture in the room began to drop as ice formed in his hand. " I don't love her. I havn't betrayed us."
And the saddest part was; he belived that last was true.

But you like her, you care for her, you could have killed her but instead you kissed her and then captured her so you would be near her.
I captured her beacuse i didn't want her dead.
There you go then; you don't want her dead.

Yashamaru was again suprised with her answer. And he was hoping she would resist that part so he could have time to find out where Cora and Aiko were. He stood there for a moment, thinking, as he picked up Mariko's weapons. Without hesitation another string of rope unwound from Yashamaru's arm and to Mariko's other wrist. Then he forced together the two hands infront of her. But he still made sure it didn't cut.
"This way," he said, motioning for her to walk infront of him...

Mariko gave him a glance before stepping forward. Never before had she just surrendered, yet never before had so much been on the line. She would have given anything to see with her own eyes that her lord's daughter was well. The future of the clan depended on this, and she would go through any length to see that Cora was safe-even risk her own honor. There is always one way lost honor can be regained, she thought, knowing that only committing seppuku would be the only way to erase her shame. She stared straight ahead as she walked ahead, mentally storing information of the land in case she should need it later.

Kuroda looked at Zutao, his eyes sad. "You may believe that you have not betrayed us, but you betrayed yourself at least. Your heart betrayed you." He shivered and, in a effort to keep the room warm, tendrals of fire snaked out from his hands and into the stones of the room, making them glow red.

(Maybe he could come across another guard that saw them and find out from him/her.

Or if you want you can have another unknown shinobi just attack Mariko just because she is an Iako, she manages to evade it, but is now angry and maybe strikes down that shinobi in her anger. Only problem is I don't know what to do about her hands being tied by his Yashamaru's rope, if it were any other I could just have her break it.

I don't know, any of these suggestions spark any ideas?)
