Villaged of the Darned for me!
Guess what I got for christmas! My parents got my a Doctor Who encyclepedia, and my friend burned me three episodes of Doctor who from her computer, so I can watch them! How cool is that?
I have a question for those of you across the pond. I know that you pay the broadcasting company so you have no comercials, but how long are you shows? Because of comercials here, a show that is slotted to take up an hour is really only about 45 minutes. Is Doctor who over there just one pure unadultered hour of bliss? Or is it more like the fourty minutes we have?

I know :swoon::swoon: It was so great! I've missed Doctor Who It was an hour long, no adverts
I liked Rose with the Ninth Doctor, not so much with the Tenth. I liked Martha too, except when she was getting all jealous. And I'm really not looking forward to Catherine Tate being the new assistant I;ve never seen the Catherine Tate show so I'm not biased in that way but she's just really annoying

Why can't America take a page from the mother country's book? GAH. I freakin' HATE commercials. Lucky! (It's why I watch PBS so much...minus the fact that MUCH BBC is aired on there, but the commercials are few and VERY far between )
ANYWAY, I agree...VOTD =
Yes, I saw it. Many thanks to my bumbling around on the internet. I didn't mean to actually find it. For a while I was really pissed that I wasn't in the UK because those who are can stream it from the Official Page. *ish jealous* But someone had uploaded it...and it has since been taken down. *tear*
Moving on...I just thought it was WONDERFUL. Very Doctor Who-ish. Although, in true RTD fashion, made me sad. When the Doctor was watching the TARDIS...well, I almost burst into tears.
And then FOON! Or whatever the hell her name was...I LOVED her! AND her husband. Know this, I absolutely love RTD...but just HATE him some times. XD WHHHHY? And the midshipman and that old guy were just AWESOMENESS.
Great episode. 71 minutes of PURE bliss. Had some great lines too. XD
Can I just say the explanation of Christmas was pure brilliance.
"They go to war with turkey....and then eat them." *sigh* I wanna get a degree in Earthonomics.
"No, just France and Germany. Only the UK is Great."

Well, I know there are no commercials, but how long is an episode? Like, if you sat down to watch Doctor Who at 8:00, when would it end? I'm wondering because I want to know how much of Doctor Who is edited when it comes to America.
*is very angry* Nationism, that's what it is! I want to watch Voyage of the D@mned!
I like how in the commercial before the episode (They let us watch a commercial, and then tell us we can't watch the show) you can se a woman spinning on the ice, and her leg goes right through a penguin.

the normal doctor who episodes are 45 minutes when shown over here. christmas specials are normally an hour, but voyage of the censored (haha, love the name) was 70 minutes.
that's why the whole concept of 24 fell spectacularly to pieces when it was broadcast over here - i guess they could just about get away with claiming that each episode covered an hour in real time when it was filling an hour time slot in america because the time could still be going down in the ad breaks, but it was shown on the bbc over here so it only had a 45 minute slot, meaning it was blatantly obvious that it wasn't actually in real time.
anyway, back to doctor who...i wasn't terribly impressed with the voyage of the censored - they're just writing the same storylines over and over and over again. i mean, they've already done the sacrifice story several times over, but then they did it not once, not twice, but THREE times just in that episode. i think the writers are running out of ideas. i also think david tennant is running out of facial expressions - i count only six. there's the flirty grin that could melt the polar ice caps, the all-purpose smile, the sad face (which usually makes an appearance following an untimely death), the i'm-gonna-kick-butt-in-about-thirty-seconds-because-i-am-the-doctor look, the i'm-thinking-so-hard-i-need-to-hold-my-head-to-stop-it-from-exploding look, and the i've-just-had-an-amazing-idea look (usually accompanied by copious amounts of shouting and jumping). *waits to get lynched by all the tennant fans*
that said, the jokes about earth christmases did make me chuckle (as did kylie's attempts at acting, and the fact that russell tovey's character only periodically remembered that he'd been shot), and a bit of brainless telly's no bad thing on christmas evening.

Yeah, I had a mixed reaction with the Voyage of the *******. On one hand, you had the Tenth Doctor and his amusing lines and facial expressions. I thought it was funny with the "Allons-y, Alonzo" and "Take me to your leader...I always wanted to say that." and a couple others. Everything else was like bleh. Kylie wasn't the best I thought and neither was the rest of the people. Well at best, they were okish good. I absolutely hated the villain. He sounded like one of those bad guys from Austin Powers. Why is it always the villains that disappoint me in Doctor Who? Aside from the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Master, and a couple more guys, the Doctor Who villains always disappoint me. They're too camp, I think. The Hosts though weren't too bad. I half expected the robot Santas to come out.
One thing I wanted to see was the Ninth Doctor come back. Because the entire Titanic thing and everything, I was hoping that he'll be back. But he didn't so I was a bit disappointed.

With Kylie, is it just me or was her acting not as good as I'd thought it'd be after acting in whatever she's acted in before?

She was never that great of an actress beforehand. But I thought she did okay.

Six facial expressions.....that's so true, when I think about it. Your description of them made me laugh.
After I finish baking cookies, I'm going to watch it (There's a link on you-tube. Hopefully its not pulled down by the time I get there)
EDIT. Gasp! I just realized that January 14 is David Tennant hair day! *Gets ready*

OH my goodness! That is the most WONDERFUL banner ever!!! Oh, I LOVE it!
So creative, and TRUE, and hysterical! YAY!!! Oh hurray!
(And thanks for bumping this--I was just thinking about doing that)
Just wanted to let everyone who gets BBC America that the 3rd season of Doctor Who starts this Saturday, just before the Torchwood premiere. Supernatural Saturdays are awesome once again.
