So, when I got home from school today, I was skimming the news on BBC and I saw the headline: "Heath Ledger is found dead in the US", At first I thought it was one of those fake news stories, but then I thought "wait this is the BBC after all, they're not one of those 'National Enquirer' magazines with the ridiculous articles"....so I read the article, it's true, Heath Ledger has passed away....I've enjoyed so many of his movies; A Knight's Tale, Ten Things I hate about you, Brokeback Mountain....etc....So, now, I'm sad and I thought I'd share it all with you...boohoo...

We were watching a live news feed from outside the apartment... They were about to take his body out... I had to leave.

This is... Just unbelievable. He's been one of my favorite actors for years, and I was about to put up my new Knight's Tale banner when I heard. My mother broke down into hysterics and I was shaking so badly that I had to put my laptop down.

Ugh. He had a two year old daughter too. Dying at 28, before the release of what promised to be one of his greatest performance. I'm in shock.

I still can't believe it's true. I'm still hoping and waiting for them to say it's some kind of sick joke - like when Will Ferrell was falsely announced dead about a year ago or so.

I've loved Heath since I first saw 10 Things I Hate About You 9 years ago. I loved him in The Patriot, A Knight's Tale, Four Feathers, Ned Kelly, The Brothers Grimm, Brokeback Mountain and Casanova.

I was so incredibly stoked to see him as the Joker in The Dark Knight. I still am but I'll probably be in tears throughout the whole thing. I can't believe it. He is such a talented actor. I refuse to say 'was' just yet. That poor little daughter of his

I know. I just wanna hug his little girl. Shes so cute. =[ I'm in denial about it still.

There is other info/articles in the Batman Begins/Dark Knight thread.

Sida told me about it this afternoon. I didn't believe her...I thought it was some tabloid prank...and then I checked it out on NY Times. And then she gave me the link to BBC.

Right now, every fiber of my being is telling me this can't be true. So, I'm in denial. And shock.

I've been a fan of his for really as long as I can remember...since 10 Things I Hate About You. He had SO much talent and so much promise. He was one of those young actors that you could really admire and look up to, and say "This guy is gonna go far." And to have that taken away is a tragedy for all of us.

I considered, for a little while, not seeing The Dark Knight -- only because I know I'll probably be crying the entire time. But why deprive myself of such a talented performance by him?

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

(I really can't believe to have to talk about him in the past tense -- it feels wrong)

10 Things I Hate About You was the first thing I saw him in too. He was amazing in everything he did.

There's no way I'm NOT seeing The Dark Knight in theaters now. It looks like, at the very least (and I loathe saying this) that it will be a fantastic final performance. But I too will cry the entire time.

I'm waiting, hoping for the news to be like "TA-DAH! IT WAS ALL VIRAL MARKETING FOR BATMAN! YAY!"

:(

Why do all the young male actors I love have to die?!

First River Phoenix... then Jonathan Brandis (whom I've loved since 1990 I might add), then recently Brad Renfro... and now Heath Ledger?!

:'(

It feels totally wrong. It's too big to even comprehend. I will probably be in denial for a very long time. I still haven't gotten over Jonathan Brandis dying - and that was in 2003!

^ That's what my brother was thinking as well, but I'm guessing the Batman crew would have more respect for the audeince and fans.

Apparently in recent interviews he's not been himself and has said he is in a dark place.... I'm waiting for the jerk who says perhaps it was something to do with his role as the Joker. They always come out with those sort of stupid things.

Eru: I know, I'm still in shock over Brad Renfro. And now this what, a week later?

Eru/Montana: I'm with you two. I keep switching tenses, because I can't decide which to use. Ugh.

JF: I would rather they were absolute sick *beep* than be serious about this.

Oh, on IMDB a lot of people are saying that the movie's cursed and that it's because he couldn't live up tp the old Joker... crap like that.

Utter crap.

You're going to get idiots talking like that. If his last role had been as a cheerful vicar, they'd have said he was unhappy because he was wasn't feeling near to God, or something stupid like that.

It doesn't help matters when people say things like that.

It's to the point that I'm not even reading there. It was the same with Brad Renfro.

Sometimes people on the internet just need to stfu. The man hasn't been dead a day and you're already bashing him? Come on. No one cares if you're happy he's dead because you're homophobic and Brokeback Mountain scared you.

Ugh. Now the news channels are going to be talking about this non-stop for weeks. I'm not even watching the news because I have no urge to see his every secret dragged up.

wow

are you sure this isn't a publicity stunt?

No, they wouldn't do that.

Wow. I am so shocked. This really goes to show the vulnerability of life. And he was so amazing... and young. I would have thought he would have lived to a very ripe old age... This is so saddening... I just need a few minutes to think...

wow...

He will be sorely missed.

^I think most everyone is praying it is.

JF: I found this on IMDB, and it pretty much sums it up
Quote:
I keep reading some very ignorant posts regarding Heath and his passing. Like "Will this affect the release of his new movie?" and things like that. My God - he just passed away. Have some compassion. Whether or not you liked the man as an actor, he was a human being with a CHILD. Show a little respect.

The news abroad are probably going to make this a bigger deal than over here in the UK. I'll try and watch some of the American news channel we get over here - just to see how they treat it.

It's always the same though when someone famous dies, you can guarantee there'll be different reportes dotted round at different places and various reports all different.

'Tis the media of the modern world... huzzah...

Yeah, that does sum it up. I can't really blame people though for asking about his films, I mean they're not showing any disrespect to him really, it's an obvious question to ask I suppose, and other film related questions. At home, we've already asked each other what we thought and Dark Knight and his other films, doesn't mean we don't feel sad for him though. I think the people who start coming out and critisizing his film roles and his films, they're the worst.

I think, if anything, he'll be the best Joker ever created on screen! I think he'll blow the shizzle out of Jack Nicholson!

@Eru: You're damned straight about that one! His Joker is gonna be off the hook.

I have seen it on MSNBC. They weren't saying much except speculations. Which I ignored. It's really sad the kind of things people have to say about such a talented and LOVED person after...you know. (I can't say it)

It's really disrespectful that people are speculating all these things and not waiting to find out what really happened. Seriously.
