Gold Dusk's tears finally stopped and he sat gently stroaking Meriana's hair.

"I have every right to be jealous of her, just as Altadon has every right to be jealous of you, but he's not ... How ... How can I not be jealous of the woman that holds your heart?" She turned, all the anger gone now.

Lili's wings seemed to droop, and it seemed as if all the strength she possessed faded. "I wasn't made to be your best friend ... I ... Altadon lifted his head and stood up. He took on his human form and walked to the cave entrance. "Lili ..." He wispered glancing over his shoulder to where Cloudya lay sleeping. She was safe here in the cave, and she wouldn't need him for a while. He took a running start and lept from the ledge his wings opening with a snap.

Lili cringed at his tone, but returned to her privous task without a word.

Altadon circled above the field a few times searching for Lili and Darren. He could sence that she was distressed, but he wasn't sure how he knew. He finally spotted them and landed under the trees so he could watch with out interfearing. He saw them talking, then it was as if whatever Darren said to her broke her spirit and she turned back to her work her wings drooping. A sudden anger boiled up inside him. "Does he not feel her pain and dispair?" He asked himself frowning.

Darren walked away so wraped up in his own anger he did not feel the pain and fustration he needed to understand in Lili.
he picked up a young centars body and threw it in the pile he had made.


Meriana laid there still. thought of what had happend kept zooming through her mind. she didnt know how to stop it. she felt so used and hurt. her phisical pain was almost as bad as her mental. her back ached and her head throbed. she breathed in and out so softly it almost seemed like she wasnt breathing at all.
soon her thought were invaided. <i> i have a job for you, what are you doing sitting around.</i> Meriana sat up fast knocking Gold Dusk in the chin.
she all of a sudden felt a pain in her stomach, she wraped her arms around her stomach and cried out in pain.
<i> see little meriana, i know how much you want children, if you dont do what i want, i shall distroy any chance of you ever having kids...oh how people will look on you..what a shame.</i> said the calm cruel voice.
the pain stopped. Meriana shook with fear.

Gold Dusk rubbed his chin, then frowned seeing Meriana in pain. "Meriana?" He asked his gold eyes dark with concern. "My love ... what's wrong?" He reached out and pulled her against him wrapping his arms around her. "Shh ... it's alright ... I'm here, there is nothing to fear."

Altadon stepped out on the field. He watched Darren his blue eyes seeming to pierce the man's back. "How dare you ... How dare you talk to her like that and then turn away." He mumbled under his breath. He turned his attention to Lili and frowned. Something was wrong. He walked towar her.

Lili haddn't noticed Altadon yet, and so continued to work in a daze. She tried to lift a centar, which would have been easy under notmal conditions, yet she couldn't seem to do it now. She struggled for a moment, and finally just sat down, her bloody hands resting in her lap.

Darren thought he had heard something and looked up but saw no one. he shook his head and kept working.


Lili looked up and saw Altadon. she looked away knowing he would be able to see the pain on her face.

Gold Dusk sat where he was unsure of wether or not he sould go after her. After a moment he moved into the den and sat by the small fire.

Zepher looked up at the knock on his door, then went to answer it. "Meriana ... Please..." He stepped aside to allow her entrance. "Be welcome at my hearth." He closed the door once she was inside.

"Lili ... " Altadon said as he knelt down in front of her and tilted her chin up so he could see her face. He searched her eyes for a moment, then pulled her against him. He gently lifted her from where she sat and started to walk from the field. "Do not protest, I am well aware that there is work that needs to be done. However, in your present state you will not be any help to him." He turned hearing someone shout his name.

Meriana stumbled in but then regained composure. " Father i must speak with you about something of great importence." she said.

Lili was about to protest but then stopped when he said something about her being no help to Darren. he was right. she leaned her head against him, she sighed and closed her eyes. her spirit was badly broken. she felt unloved and misused.

Altadon turned as Darren approached. He held Lili tightly his blue eyes flashing angrily. "What do you want?" He asked not carring wether his tone was rude or not.

Altadon turned and started walking again. "I'm not sure what he ment by that, and I'm not sure I liked his tone." He walked to another clearing and sat down against a tree. He cradled lili's head in the crook of his arm. " There now ... rest ... I'll be here." He placed his hand gently against her cheek before smoothing her bangs back from her face.
