i thought i'd revive this thread, seeing as i've just gained a new favourite pairing. so, to elaborate on my previous list...

faramir/eowyn (lotr, obviously) - i know there's not a lot of them in the film, but i would kill to have a guy look at me the way david wenham looks at miranda otto

jo/friedrich (little women, specifically the 1994 version) - jo and friedrich are so much better suited than jo and laurie, and their scenes are so beautiful

ninth doctor/rose (doctor who) - christopher eccleston and billie piper had fantastic on-screen chemistry, so you really believed in the relationship between them - however much he flirted with other women (and trees), and however much she dithered between him and the safety of mickey, you still believed they really deep down loved each other

caroline/mac (green wing) - i love how they're so comfortable around each other (like the way they take the mick out of each other, and the fact that it seemed so natural for him to be stroking her hair that he didn't seem to realise he was doing it), but at the same time you can really feel a spark between them when they get close. again, kudos to the actors (tamsin grieg and julian rhind-tutt) for making it so believable. it normally really annoys me when it takes ages for two characters that should be together to actually get together (see final pairing below) but because it's only dragged out over 18 episodes in green wing, and because it's so well written and acted, it works. i just wish mac wasn't dying when they finally got together

harry/nikki (silent witness) - if these two don't get together in the next series, i will be forced to take over the scriptwriting. they have the same sort of easy-yet-full-of-sexual-tension relationship as caroline and mac, they just haven't managed to get together yet

must say, a common thread running through all my ships is the fact that i'm a little bit in love with all of the guys. you'd think i'd be jealous of the girl and not want it to work, but maybe i just like pretending i am the girl...

They had enough conflicting aspects in their personalities to make their relationship interesting yet enough similarities to make it realistic.
