From the looks of that post this would be a good topic for RPing?  As PD and I have spoken about in the past the only problem with this idea would be having all the big name actors working together.  Although I do believe JD could work with Nick Cage, given the fact that Mr Depp does not have an ego. Another cool part about this idea would be the soundtrack. We would get a soundtrack that mixes the best of Pirates and NT.  Just imagine the National Treasure theme music mixed with the classical POTC music. That would be a very unique piece. _________________ <center>

haha, Anie!!! that was great.... very well done. 
Hector, hmmm, an RPG wouldn't be half bad for this.  (it would be a new idea at least) what doth teh Anie say to this? Eh, Nicolas Cage and JD would probably be able to work together alright... it might split the fans, but they would get over it.  And it might do even better because it would attract more fans. Never thought about the soundtrack though.... hm, it might be hard because I think two different composers did the PotC and NT music, right? It might be hard to get them to agree. and the directors were both different too... and Disney might not like to mix the movies.  just because, meh, that doesn't seem to be how they run.  I dunno, but it would be cool to see them pull it off.

I think it could work, all we would have to do is find enough people to play all the roles. Of course given the three of us most of the Pirates characters would be spoken for, not to mention some of the NT characters. As for the soundtrack the mouse could make a cool soundtrack, but as PD said since different people have worked on them, that is highly doubtful. A crossover would rock! I don't think having all those big-name actors together would be too much of a problem, but of course no one knows for sure. Oh dear...Hans Zimmer and Trevor Rabin collaborating...  (You know you're a fan when: you can name the composer of the movie's soundtrack at the drop of a hat. ) Just let T&T write the script, and you know "everything's going to be all right." _________________

Well then if everyone likes the idea of a crossover, I suppose a good plot would be required. We would almost need a villain who also wants the FOY, because although the interaction of the pirates and NT cast would be funny, I doubt that anyone would want to see either one be the bad guy. Hm right now a good original villain is slipping my mind.  Oh well I am sure you guys will be able to help come up with something.

Oh, I don't think there would be a problem getting people to fill the roles. 
but a good plotline for a PotC/NT crossover story? Ummm, I'm not sure...  and a villain for it? hmmm..... well, the plot almost makes itself. They're going to get the Fountain of Youth. It takes place in today's world, right? Or do the NT crew time travel somehow? And who gets to play who? There's still lots of things to work out, I guess... any ideas, Pip? (or even you too, Hector )
Anie, lol, you should use that in the You Know You're Passionate About PotC When... thread. I don't think it's been done before. Aye, good ol' T&T... they would be able to handle it no matter how many big names they have to work with. They have a way of making everyone's role important.

I actually just read a rumor that said mixing Pirates 4 and NT is a possibility. The article went on to say that Disney has already got copyrights for NT3 and 4. I guess if these rumors are true then we will be getting two more National Treasure movies. 
I thought that a POTC, NT mix was something only for discussion, but I guess that it is a real possibility.  _________________ <center>

disloyal because of having more PotC banners than LotR ones? Never! it only means you've requested more PotC stuff... it doesn't have to mean you LIKE Pirates better (whether you really do or don't). Trust me, sadly I have more PotC stuff than anything else banner-wise. although whether that means anything is up to you...  
I think many of us think that. T&T are just amazing...  if I had their story telling, character developing, original powers and dedication...... wow, I dunno what I'd do.
Hector, aye, you told me about this. It would be weird to have 2 more NT movies... but if they do them alright, why not, right? Especially if they meet the Pirates in the 4th one or something.
anyway, about the cross-over... I'm gonna pm you about it, Pip. Is that ok? we can discuss it that way and then Hector will hear about it and we can go from there... because it really is something that would be cool to pursue.

The rumors have it that NT 3 will have something to do with Easter Island, Atlantis, and something about a clean power source. The release date is rumored to be 2009 or 2010. NT 4 is supposedly about the fountain of youth and will be released a few years later. This is where POTC would come in. So if the rumors end up becoming true, Pirates 4 is a long ways off,  as everyone figured. The bright side is maybe after this long break OB and KK will want to come back. _________________ <center>

People honestly believe there's even a possiblity of a National Treasure/POTC film?! That's the oddest thing I think I've heard all year. I'd love to know who started that story off on the net, as I can find it easier to imagine Elvis being found alive and well than a film that encompasses not only 2 films, but 2 eras as well. If National Treasure was set in POTC time, there'd be the slightest, tiniest possibility.... but as National Treasure is 21st century and POTC 18th....
Sorry, but that's my thought. Until I see a bona fide statement from the film companies involved, I'm never going to be able to believe that. It is much too weird, and as usual, films that aren't going to be out for a while, weird rumours usually crop up.
Seriously, can anyone here imagine Benjamin Gates meeting Jack Sparrow? You just couldn't take the film seriously at all if there was a cross over between the two. It would be like a special skit you sometimes see for charity events and stuff like that. I would be mega disappointed if Disney cheapened POTC and National Treasure by doing something as weird as that.

That is simply just a weird rumor that I ran across on the net. As for the crossover aspect, it would be set in the 21st century. Jack and Barbossa would have found the FOY, while Ben Gates and company would be trying to get it. This is just one of many possibilities that Disney is reportedly thinking about.
I fully agree that this is a slim possibility, but I thought that it would be an interesting topic for conversation.

hm, Easter Island and Atlantis all in one movie? eh, I dunno if Atlantis would be so great... it might get a little weird, you know? But this isn't really the place to talk about that so.... anyway, that would be a ways off... however, it might give everyone some time to chill out and recover from AWE and DMC if they did decide to do that. as you said, Hector (or CB).
JF, I don't know if I'd say it was the oddest thing of the year. There's been a lot weirder things, I can assure you. lol but the thing is it would be more like what CB said, the Pirates would have the FoY so they would still be alive nowadays. And it wouldn't be one movie for both of them, I don't think. it would be more like one for PotC with the NT crew in it and one for NT with the PotC crew in it, right?
And I guess the way I see it, this is a MUCH better rumor and plotline than if PotC got all sci-fi and flying ships on us like a lot of the rumors I heard a while ago.  I mean, really who wants such a awesome trilogy to turn into another Star Wars?  That would be twisting it a lot more than if they just met up with Ben Gates, Riley and the rest. And I would much rather see this.... so I guess I must say I still think it would be fun just because nothing like this has ever been done before. *shrugs* I get what you mean though there are a lot of crossovers you could have, but I still think this one could be pulled off. I have faith that T&T could do it with taste.

If T&T are the dudes who killed off the best sword fighter in POTC, by having him killed by a crusty crab with a toothpick, then I don't have that much faith in them to be honest. I love POTC, but I can see flaws in it, just as I can with LOTR.
I've heard the rumour about flying ships - I agree I wouldn't really like that. But somehow I think seeing Babby and Jack in the modern world as pirates would be just as bad, if not worse. If that was something they were really considering doing, I don't think I'd watch it. I've seen a lot of pointless sequels, and I think that would rank among them. If they can't keep any future POTC film within it's own world and with the same kind of feel to it, there's no point in making anymore.
I mean, for anyone whose seen Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, you'll know Indy drank something that was to give him life forevermore.... now that is a crossover waiting to happen....
