You can definately drive for your own team. Just look at Robby Gordon and Michael Waltrip.
If it was during the Fox broadcast, then it very well may have been a joke. Those guys like to have fun, so I can see them saying something like that, especially if Jeff and Jimmie got lapped earlier in the race and recieved the lucky dog. I really doubt that the announcers would say that on national television seriously. It is their job to attract people to the sport, but if people heard that a caution was going to come out to save certain drivers, that would hurt the sport.
I am just like you, only for Jeff and Jimmie. I follow them every race. I am sure that if that comment had been said seriously I would have heard it.

whether it was said as a joke or not, it happened, and I find it strange that it happened just a few laps after they mentioned it.
I also give an example of the Kansas *I think it was the kansas race* that got rained out last year; or they had that long rain delay. They had a red flag at a little past halfway through the race, guess who was sitting first? Tony. They should have called the race because they had half the race done. That's the rule right? *and the thing about California; I hope they NEVER do that again; having to wait that long for a race is ridiculous*. However, since Tony was sitting first spot, and I think had it been any driver but HEndricks, the race wasn't called, Tony got in a wreck, someone else won. I'm not the only fan who feels this way; if I can find the article, Iw ill post the link, if it's even still up on nascar.com.

The rule is that the race can be called official if NASCAR can not restart it. I applaud NASCAR for restarting that race. To me it was much more fair that the race was not called. That storm system moved through quickly, it would have seemed stupid to not restart the race and give the fans what they paid for. I believe even if that race had been called, Jimmie still would have won the championship.
NASCAR does have certain drivers that they like to see win, so as I said it is entirely possible that they would help certain drivers. Although this is a sad state of affairs, it is not only Hendrick Motorsports drivers that get the special treatment. I have seen Stewart almost go a lap down and then a phantom piece of debris is seen. NASCAR would very much like every race to be won by Gordon, Johnson, Stewart, or Earnhardt Jr, and they will help any of them to accomplish this.
As for the article, it was posted right on the heels of the dominant season of 2007. I believe that last year many people were trying to explain away the domination of Hendrick Motorsports. From my experience people will say whatever they have to, to make the accomplishments of #24 and #48 seem small. The reality of last year was Jeff and Jimmie were the best two drivers on the circuit. They finished first and second in many races, and I never remember their cars ever failing post-race inspection.

NASCAR may have "helped" stewart or any other driver win races, but had Stewart actually been cheating, or his team for that matter, I doubt he would have been so outspoken about it; NASCAR just shut him up to keep it under wraps.
If that happens again this year, I will stop watching the sport, stop publicly supporting anything NASCAR, and I will encourage other fans to do the same. I believe, also, that some of those fans in that article were favorable to Johnson and Gordon; and I've read other's opinions elsewhere who were Hendricks fans who noticed that the hendricks drivers got special attention, so it's not just me or stewart fans; it's even hendricks fans.
anywhoo, I'm tired of discussing this topic as it seems we're going in circles.
oops, I just made a NASCAR joke. ha.
any thoughts of Talladega and who has the best chance? Im' not sure as I havne't watched any practices or anything, and I'm not sure how well the COT runs at Dega.

The Hendrick drivers got special attention from the media last year, because they ran up front so much. I do agree, we are just going to have to agree to disagree on this subject.
Talladega what an awesome racetrack, one of my favorites. Well Harvick was on top of the speed charts, but as far as favorites, anyone left in the race on the final lap has a chance. I believe we will see a battle between Hendrick and Joe Gibbs. I guess it kind of continues what has been going on in this thread.

I thought so. glad there weren't more wrecks though; tony had a bad day as it was. can't understand how or why Montoya finished 2nd. That made me so freakin' mad, except for the fact that he pushed Kyle Busch to the win; which was okay, I guess....Tony finishing higher than 38th would have made it a little better day.

in my above post, I meant to say I thought the Talladega race was interesting and somewhat exciting. thought I'd clear that up, lol.
After hearing about Denny's win last night *I Couldn't watch it unfortunately* it'd be cool if he won two in a row on his home track. and I hope Tony has a good race; at least, better than last week's.

I love you! *hugs LOR* It was really cool *and somewhat unusual!* to see all three JGR cars last week 1-2-3. I wish it'd been that way towards the end but nothing is perfect.

^Yeah, I figured that out in the SB
But yeah..that was interesting last week with the JGR cars...
I hate to say it...thought it's still too early...but I don't think Jimmie Johnson is gonna get the Cup this year. He just hasn't been doing well....though like I said it's still too early to tell.

Gordon hasn't been hot either, which is making me gleeful. and I know that's terrible to say, but I'm kind of tired of Hendricks this, and HEndricks that. ANYTHING, even stuff about montoya, is better than hendricks all the time. yeah, call me biased, but I'm not the only one who feels that way, i can assure you. It's sort of nice to hear even just a little more about other teams, like RCR and JGR.
I think maybe RCR and JGR will fight it out for the Championship. What do you think? I think since Burton is number 1 in points right now, those two ownerships will be something to watch.
