Seems the Wolverine movie might be out a bit sooner than expected. I was reading SuperheroHype.com today and there was quotes from Lauren Schuler Donner on that and other upcoming Marvel projects.
"At Fox, 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand" appears to have concluded the franchise -- at least in its present form. Instead, the studio is developing two possible spin-offs: "Wolverine," starring Hugh Jackman, and "Magneto," which would follow the character portrayed by Ian McKellen as a much younger man.
The studio has been so eager to get "Wolverine" out next year that it has committed to go into production the instant Jackman finishes Baz Luhrmann's epic romance "Australia," which Fox is tentatively set to release next year. "The idea is, they can finish him out in September or October and put this one on the fast track so they can get it out next summer," says one source.
For the time being anyway, it seems that "Wolverine" is the best hope for continuing the "X-Men" movie franchise. "There is no script for an 'X-Men 4,' and there is none in the works," avers producer Lauren Shuler Donner."

Aww... no X-men IV... I really hoped they'd have Apocalypse and Ultimate battle... cuz they tried to have the 'war' in the third movie but it really wasnt all that great...anyway, about this new Wolverine movie im quite glad that dom monaghan's in it along with hugo jackman. I kinda hope paquin's in it too but i hardly doubt she has a role to play as rouge in his early life

Yeah, it's quite a shame there's no plans for X-Men 4. I'd also have loved them to deal with Apocalypse, The Horsemen and Mister Sinister.
I have mainly positive vibes for the Origins movie. They're gathering up a great cast and everything I've seen so far looks pretty cool. Liev Schrieber has even won me over as Sabretooth. I'm completely beyond ecstatic that Deadpool is in the movie and that Ryan Reynolds is taking on the role he was born to play.
Anna Paquin won't be in the movie. The main chunk of the movie is allegedly set 15 years previous to X-Men.

Yeah, it should be pretty good. I hope it will be, anyway.
Well, I'm kinda glad Anna Paquin won't be in it... she was too annoying in the other movies.

I've said this before. I have no problem with Anna's acting, but how they wrote Rogue in the three movies. There was next to no development of her character.

She didn't even get to be a part of the big battle at the end of the third film. I was so bummed about that.

I know, because she was getting the cure. Really bad writing imo, Rogue may have seriously considered it. But would never, ever have taken it. As much as her power is a curse, it's something that she can use to others' benefit and that would be her reasoning not to let her abilities be taken away. Least of all for a boy.

I highly disliked the cure plotline with her. Sure I can see why someone like her would consider it because she can never experience full skin-on-skin human contact ever, but like you said she could use her power in so many other ways that would benefit her and her fellow X-Men.
The vulnerability-card worked for the first film but should have been dropped by the second and definitely not have been in the third film. They didn't do her character justice.

I'm in total agreement, and it's not a slight on Anna. Just the writers being incredibly lazy with her character. She wasn't the only one that suffered, but that's another topic lol
In X2 she had Icemans abilities and stopped the fires at Bobby's house. That should have been an awakening for her to realise how much good she could do with her power.

i totally agree. i was really disappointed by the third movie. I had always thought of rouge as a tough x-men and although her powers don't allow any contact with the ppl she loves, its a pretty cool gift. and i think the movie made it seem like more of a curse than what it actually is. i like the wb's version of rouge much better. lol

I agree, it's not Anna.
They wrote her so... pathetic. She was timid and clueless through all three movies. Ah well. Nothing we can do about it.

Oh definetly. I hope I don't sound like a total whiner, I love all three movies, as imperfect as they all are.

It's just such a shame as Rogue could have been a fantastic character in the films. I enjoyed the Logan/Rogue relationship though, even if it did make her more childlike!

I love the X-Men, but the movies were disappointing. Anna Paquin did a splendid job in X-Men 1, but in the other ones she had no character development.
So far, Evolutions is my favorite adaption of X-Men.
