Ooh might I join? I just finished reading Twilight a few weeks ago, and it's become one of my favourites! I'm part way through New Moon.

Welcome to the club Estë Undómë and Miluiel Evenstar! It's so great to have you here!! So, I reread Eclipse because I kinda had a slow period of time from uni. And oh gosh I can't wait! For the next book and the movie! It's too much, really! My best friend keeps calling me reminding me that the dates are approaching. haha. But yeah, I think I will be making a bunch of graphics for the upcoming excitement, and I will for sure post them here!

Oh, so what do you guys think of the casting decisions for the movie? I think it would be cool to open this up to discussion.

I'm not all that excited about Robert Pattinson as Edward, but I don't seem to mind either. I'm just a little mad that I'm losing my image of Edward and it's getting replaced by Robert. Oh well, hopefully he'll pull it off, and I can be like "jeez eve...you should've had more faith in him." Hopefully! I dunno what i think of Kristen Stewart as Bella. I guess I just imagined someone more...soft. I like the casting for Alice so far...the rest of them seem ok too.

So what do you think?

I agree, I really don't think they cast the right person for Edward. Robert Pattison's all right as an actor, but he really doesn't fit as Edward Cullen for me personally. He is not at all how I envisioned Edward would be.

I don't know, overall, I don't think they did that well with the casting. I agree, Kristen Stewart will be interesting as Bella, and I like who they chose for Alice as well.

Have you seen the teaser? There are parts where Edward is supposed to look fierce I guess, but I don't see it. Although, I guess from a casting director's point of view, no one will be happy. The casting of Edward is just too hard to please everyone. I mean, I really liked my image of Edward when i read, but Robert Pattinson isnt too bad. The movie doesn't seem that great so far as the teaser goes. I'm actually quite worried that the movie will make me like the story less kinda like the harry potter movies did. In my head everything was so cool! And my image of things fit my personality. I think this is a hard series of books to turn into films.

I would love to join this club. I just started the book and I am on page 240. I am in love with it, but more so with the lovely Edward Cullen.

Welcome Turwaithiel!! It's great that you've started reading...well more than just started!! Yay!! I probably was in love with Edward too... It's like my best guy friend says about the book "all the girls want Edward, and all the guys wanna be Edward" haha.

Anyways, I wouldn't recommend reading the previous pages yet...there might be hidden spoilers. Just a warning!

I agree. Depending on their writer, they may manage to pull it off. Look at LOTR. Some people love the movies, some people hate them because of the way they interpreted the books. Tolkien himself said that the books would be almost impossible to make into films, and yet most of us love them! They managed to find the happy medium between the books and the artistic adaptations that were necessary to a filming budget.

Personally, the cast they've chosen isn't how I imagined it at all, but I still think it'll be all right.

*hops on in* Been watching the conversation, lurking around and whatnot. =P I've read the books, followed the movie(so far) and am a self-proclaimed Jacob addict. So I think it'd be only logical for me to join, right? Right.

On casting for the movie: No one could have filled the shoes of those characters perfectly. Ever. At all. The vampires in the novels are far too perfect to be portrayed just right by humans, but I think they came pretty close with Robert and friends. Casting for the humans was a bit off for me. Angela, in my opinion, doesn't look normal enough to be a teenager in a remote rainy town in the middle of almost-nowhere. Kinda the same with the others. Kristen Stewart is probably the closest it comes to the Bella in my head. When I read the casting, I immediately thought of her in Speak, which isn't too far of a stretch from her emotional state in New Moon and Eclipse. I know everyone was looking forward to Gaspard Ulliel and Emily Browning, but Gaspard's not scary enough(I think) and Emily just doesn't fit right for me. She's gorgeous, she's talented, but it's a little like trying to fit an oval into a circle, I guess. She's not supposed to be as perfect as Emily tends to come off as. For the Cullen family, Peter Facinelli as Carlisle is my favorite casting. He looks like a male model meets bottled perfection in the few shots I've seen of him. Jasper and Emmett casting is a love-hate thing for me because the Emmett I had in my mind was literally a beardless muscular Hagrid(I think I was reading HP at the same time, don't ask), and Jasper was absolutely positively supposed to look like my friend Jasper in real life. The problem? Emmett's huge but not a half-giant(*sigh*), and my Jasper has dark hair and blue eyes. Nikki Reed as Rosalie wouldn't be my first choice, but what she doesn't have in absolute perfection she makes up for in talent. Still, I liked her better as a brunette.

Let's see. Alice and Jacob are the only ones left, yes? I almost decided to shun the movie because no one can look like my favorite characters. More so, they're not allowed to. Because every shot I see of Taylor Lautner and Ashley Greene now are going to be accompanied by a montage of squeeing shortly followed by my unconscious body hitting the floor. I adore Jacob. A lot. Same with Alice, and both of them in my mind can never be replaced by the people I saw in the books. Luckily I figured I can separate myself into two fanatics(one for books, one for movies) and just deal with the fact that I'm too much of a perfectionist to ever work in Hollywood. Needless to say, I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with casting for book-to-movie adaptations.

@ Aliana: I'm glad we could lure you in finally Aliana! haha. Although, it was probably Jacob that did that it seems. Glad to have you! And I love your thoughts on the casting! You've totally got a point. (Gosh, I feel like a GSI or something leading a discussion in university....haha)

@ Karigan: Of course you can join!! Have you only read Twilight or have you read the others too? Oh and who's your favorite so far?

Oh and by the way, I don't think I've ever met either of you around the forum. Hi! You can call me eve!

Hi Eve! I'm Ammy, or Ali, and I'm an addict.
*cue clapping*

Yes, well. I adore Edward. Really, I do. But Jacob in New Moon won me over[and over and over...]. I get that Edward and Bella are meant to be together, but that's okay with me because it means I can have Jacob. ^_^

How am I NOT a part of this club? Twilight is tied for my biggest obsession right now (with Dr Who). Honestly, after seeing the newest behind-the-scene vids, I've read the trilogy through twice in the last week.

Have I mentioned that I'm joining the club too? :D
I love Twilight, I know it's not really a "guy" book, but I think it is an amazing story. :D
My favorite character is Bella and Edward. But that's kind of a gimmie... :p
I also LOVE Alice. And Emmett is cool too. Then Jasper, Esme, Carlisle, and then Rosalie.

For the record, I HATE Jacob Black. I am serious, I have never hated a character more than Jacob. His story is I guess what you would call tragic, a bit. If his character remained the same as it was in the early parts of New Moon, he would have been a good character and I would have felt sorry for him, because he loses Bella. But after he becomes a werewolf, he becomes selfish and manipulative.

Okay, well that's enough of my rambling. :p

So, you can see I take Twilight very seriously.... :p

I think I've established that Jacob is mine, so it's okay if you hate him. More for me.

But seriously, now. His character develops; not necessarily into something good, but he develops nonetheless. All the characters do(which is why I adore Stephenie Meyer). What I love about him isn't that he's a huge jerk in the last book, it's that he's really the only character in the book besides maybe Charlie and Renee that isn't trying to hide anything. He physically can't tell people about his werewolfness, so that doesn't count. When he just outs and says what he's thinking, you can tell that's how it is with him, he's not beating around the bush. On top of that, it would be useless to hide things, what with his pack being able to hear/see/feel his thoughts.

So don't be so quick to hate him =P There are reasons why he gets to be the more involved antagonist of the story.

EDIT:
Also, don't feel weird about being a guy and reading the books. My best friend Jasper is pretty much obsessed with them. :P
