Dax followed after the group, in front of Strider. She was fine for a while, then started itching to talk to someone, anyone at that. Dax ingnored the feeling of jitteryness for a few minutes then slowed her pace and fell in to step with Strider, determine to get someone in this group to talk, even if they were posibley the rudest person there. Besides, sometimes people needed a 2nd impression, if they blew that first one, much like he had.
"Your names Strider, right?" she asked, a smile on her face.

Strider looked over at Dax. "Yep, thats my name." He said with a slight smile. "Dax, if I hear right?" He asked.

It wasn't long before stone outer walls of town arose in front of them. Whereas lat night the guard had probably left to go for a drink or to secretely gamble in a dark pub to earn more than the miserable wage he earned now, he was there now. Patrolling up and down the gate, sword sheated which was a habbit in peace time, but the shield glittering in the morning sunlight. The guard looked with surprise at this strange company which passed by: a blind man, quite young but who looked no better than a beggar first. A young man, obviously a stranger to this town, with a percing look. A fine-clothed man with pipes who couldn't be else than a bard. Two, to the guard's opinion, fair ladies whose purpose in this company he couldn't fiure. And a young lad with a rugged look. The guard beheld the group and let them pass without questions, for it wasn't his job to ask questions to peope leaving town. In all his career the man had never seen a procession like such..

The tiled road slowy changed into a dusty sandpath and there was a light breeze when Tristan stepped into the open. He loosened up his cloak so his white shirt was shown. They had to follow the same path he came from yesterday. That's the easy part he thought. But after then.. it would have been better if he still had his sight.

Eavan seemed to read Tristan's thoughts, for she thought the same. She looked around, wishing she could put her cloak on and be lost in the shadows, unnoticed and unseen. She hated the way that the gaurd looked at her, and she glared at him, falling back to walk with Araman. She hated picking favorites, but she could already tell that Araman was her favorite from the group so far. His personaility, his wits, his charm...She tried to stop her thoughts quickly, but it was too late.
Ah, the truth comes out! Admit it, love, you love him! "Flame, shut up." She told him bitterly, but she couldn't help to blush a little. Was that what it was? She didn't think so...and besides, she had more things to concentrate on then her "love" affairs. Her brothers life was at stake.

"Aye, that's right."" Dax answered, looking him over, "How old are you?" she asked, purely out of curiosity. The boy looked to be in his late teens, maybe early 20's, for he was fairly tall.

Strider nodded. "Well, nice to meet you, Dax. And I'm barely 17. You?" He answered, truthfully.

Amaran walked along the path, feeling the morning sun warm is bones. a flutter of wings behind him drew his attention for a moment, but the sound was instantly recognized as a familiar one. A small kestral alighted on his shoulder and nipped his ear. "Hello, Sifa." he gasped, searching his pocket for a morsal of food. He was too slow. She nipped again, drawing blood. On close inspection people would realize his earlobes were pock-marked with scars. Sifa and her sharp beak were the reason. tearing a peice of jerky from his pocket he handed it to her. he ate it hungrily. "Little beast" he muttered. "I don't know why I put up with you."
Amaran noticed Eaven's uneasy glare at the gaurd. He smiled when she slowed to keep pace with him. "We do look a bit odd together." He remarked, stretching out the early morning stiffness. "I mean, the group in general. Couldn't get a broader spectrum if ye tried." He glanced at her, then smiled in surprise at the tiny head poking out of Eavan's clothing. "Who's this?" He asked laughingly. Sifa fluttered down Amaran's shoulder and onto his forearm to get a better look: a tiny red dragon looked back at them.

Eavan looked over at Araman, glad to be riding beside him. "Oh, this little thing?" She said carefreely as Flame came out of her jacket and onto her shoulder. "This is my friend, and dragon, Flame. He is only a few thousand years old, that is why he is so small." She explained, though she figured Araman would know. "I have a thing for animals." She admitted.

Tristan had silently listened to Eavan's reply about her dragon. He turned around and asked curiously. "They tell that these animals can also read other minds as well. Though I don't believe that.."
He slowed down his pace until he was level with Amaran and Eavan. "Is that true?"

Eavan glanced at Flame before answering Tristan. "Yes, he can. That is how we speak, him and I." She told him, smiling and stroking the young dragons neck. "He is quite a companion; saved my life once or twice."
More like 10 or 20. Flame retored and she glanced down at him. "Oh shut up." She told him jokingly.

And so the journey began. They say the first step is the hardest, but that's not always true. Each step taken was pretty easy. These were not to be the hardest- the most awkward maybe, but not the hardest. The hardest were to come. The strange throng of people made their way through the village gate, and onto the road. So started the first chapter of the story of the last two wolfen...
Vondell was the only one who walked alone now down the path. He was infront of Dax and Strider, and behind Tristan, Amaran, and Eaven. He was off in his own world, thinking about the past, the present, and the futur. Nelnya flew around around him, chirping at falling leaves or chasing after a fly.
The little fire lizard eventually came to perch on Von's shoulder, and chirped in his ear. This pulled him out of his thought. He looked up to realized Amaran had a companion of his own as well. The bard ran a hand through sandy brown hair. The group deffinently looked odd, but variety usually made for an interesting tale, if any lived to tell it in the end...
(I hope you don't mind the little narriation... think of it as Von's thoughts... lol)

[ No, it's cool! ]
Tristan shook his head. "No I meant the minds of others, aside of the one with whom he is connected." Tristan grinned bitter. He'd read alot about these creatures in the past, seen pictures or drawings. He had been fascinated by them, but he'd never seen them for they were very rare. Of course were these creatures never to be found in Cercum because they had been hunted down long ago in the past there. Evil already lingered in Cercum in these days.

((No Rain, it was wicked.))
Eavan smiled and said, "Yes, he can do that to. Talented little thing, isn't he?" She added and Flame growled low, saying to her,
Little? "Hey, I am calling you that a little while longer before you are bigger than the mountains." Fine.

Nelnya flew off of Von's shoulder after recieving a good scratch on her eye ridge. She hovered infront of him for a moment and disapeared, only to appear again infront of Amaran, Eaven, and Tristan. She chirped questioningly at Flame.
Blood brother? she called mentally to the dragon. In some legends dragons were bred from fire lizards, but that was just a myth. But the two creatures acknowledged the sharing of genes...

"Fascinating" Tristan answered, surprise written on his face. Behind him he heard the soft chirping of another creature but he could not tell what it was. What was it with people and pets nowadays? he wondered. Did people fear silence and solitude that much?
Correction Tristan thought with a smirk, it is you who actually doesn't like company.. see you're even talking to yourself.
"Well one advantage of a large group is that no one has to worry about dinner." Tristan said lost in thought, not aware of the change in subject. He remembered the first months when it had taken him hours or even days to find food.
Yep, company was definately a benefit
