We are the Second Augustus Legion in 60 AD. Boudicca has just set her uprising in motion, and we are called upon to act. Emporer Nero sends us on various mission to thwart the rebels, until we make the final strike at The Battle of Watling Street. Our Century of the first cohort, is the finest in Britannia. It is up to us to hold back the Rebel Iceni and thier allies from Roman land. We succeed, or die.
Character sheets and name info
MALE NAMES - Most Roman Male Names had three basic parts: the Praenomen, the Nomen, and the Cognomen. During the Republic and into the early Empire, the three name "Tria Nomina" system was important in distinguishing between Citizens, non-citizens "peregrimus" and the slaves, who generally had only one name. Non-citizens gaining Roman Citizenship, such as discharged auxiliary soldiers, usually assumed the Nomen of the current Emperor. By the time of Emperor Caracalla (211-217 AD), roman citizenship had been granted to virually everyone in the Empire and the Tria Nomina naming convention had lost much of its importance and distinction.
FEMALE NAMES - Females were normally given a feminized form of their Father's Nomen and sometimes a Cognomen. Female Nomines (names) ended with "-a" or "-illa" instead of the masculine "-us"... Claudia / Claudius - Flavia / Flavius. The feminine form was also used when referring to a "gens" (family) as a whole or group... gens Claudia - gens Flavia; and the plurals would be Claudii - Flavii. Female Praenomen (first name when used) were usually chosen with even less imagination; Primia, Secundia, Tertia, and so forth, denoting the birth-order of the daughters of the family. Roman women did not change their names when they married
THE PRAENOMEN - This form of personal "first" name was relatively unimportant, and was rarely used on its own. It was the first name element in the three part "Tria Nomina" naming convention used by citizens of Rome. The Praenomen was frequently the same as the father's
THE NOMEN - The nomen was the family name of the "gens" or clan and almost always ended in "-ius". It was the second of the three names normally adopted by a Roman Citizen. The feminine form ended with "-a" or "-illa" instead of the masculine "-us"... Claudia / Claudius - Flavia / Flavius. The feminine form was also used when referring to the "gens" as a whole or group... gens Claudia - gens Flavia; and the plurals would be Claudii - Flavii.
THE COGNOMEN - third name of a Roman Citizen. It was a nickname or personal name; distingushed an individual from all those relatives who might happen to share his or her praenomen and nomen. Often the cognomen was chosen based on some physical or personality trait. Sometimes the cognomen was added later as a recognition of their birthplace or heritage or some special achievement or event in their personal history; for example, Germanicus, Italicus, or Africanus for someone born in, or who achieved a military victory in Germany, Italy or Africa. Many cognomen sounded quite similar with only one or maybe two different letters in the spelling to differentiate them... Aquila - Aquilius - Aquillius, Crispian - Crispin - Crispus.

Joining but you knew that already
Name: Levi Ben-Aharon
Meaning: Levi son of Aharon [mountaineer]
Age: 28
Height: 1,90 (metres)
Parentage: Aharon Ben-Adaiah and Myriam Bat-Ezra
Rank: Auxilia
Physical Description: Short blond hair, blue eyes, tanned skin
Garb: Simple soldier tunic, a leather corslet and sandals
Weapons: Short sword (gladius) and a javelin
Animal(s): None
Homeland: Province of Judea
History: Levi was at a young age filled with devotion to his fatih and the Jewish people, sometimes arguing with friends what it would be like to have the Romans driven away from his country. It were dark times with friends betraying eachother and anyone could be a Roman informer. After Levi turned 20 he was arrested on charges of "plotting against Roman reign" and he was enslaved, brought to Rome. There he was forced to work in the mines and later on a Roman farm for 8 years where life was miserable. At this time the Roman legions had a shortage of money and soldiers so Levi and many other slaves were sent to join the auxilary forces in Britain. Though hard life marked Levi he is still broodin gon the oppurtunity to escape and return to his country.
I guess since auxilary forces aren't always used in combat Levi is also the servant of the centurion.
Pfew.. this took me a long time to post. Second bio is up soon

Thanks Turwaithion, to be honest so am I. I have no idea how his character will turn out.
Name: Claudius Marcus Pius (meaning dutiful)
Age: 24
Height: 1,98 (metres)
Parentage: Quintus Claudius Magnus and Lucia Ritullia Alba
Rank: Optio centuriae [second in command]
Physical Description: Tall, brown hair and blue eyes. Shaven (like all soldiers)
Garb: Lorica segmentata, leather breastplate, helmet with plumes of horsehair and a cloak of his rank.
Weapons: Short sword (gladius) and a javelin
Animal: A horse, though not used for combat
Homeland: Italy
History: Marcus' father was a wealthy man: very succesful in the army and now a Senator. Marcus grew up and could anything what his heart desired. Because of his intellect and his talent with the sword Marcus soon grew arrogant and proud. He believes in the Roman supremacy and now joined the forces to climb up in the army like his father has done to earn repsect, honor and wealth.
Could Marcus and Lucius perhaps be friend?

Sure. But Lucius respects his Celtic enemies, so if Marcus doesn't, then that may be a debate between them. Also, the 2nd and 3rd names are used for adress. Gaius Julius Ceasar is known as Julius Ceasar, for example. The praenomen is ignored. Just a little grammar nitpick.

That's okay, that makes things mor intresting I think.
Hm, right. Those names got me confused. I also read that the 3rd name could be a virtue so basicly if I switch the first and second name, it will be okay?
Yay for perfection

I think Amane, that it in Roman times was quite impossible to dress up like a man.
Tur should decide though.
Hmm I switched names.. don't know if it's right now but just call him Marcus cause that's his name

Yeah, Amane, sorry. It would be noticeable in the Roman Army if there was a female in the century. No female charries allowed.

((we start now))
Artorius walked out of his tent, his new orders clutched in his hands. A rebel Celt queen had chosen to invade Roman land. Artorius recognized the name: Boudicca. The Centurion turned to see his Optio, Marcus, approaching him. I hope it's good news, this time. he thought.

Marcus walked over the green field between the orderly rows of tents of the Roman soldiers. His helmet glittered in the sunlight and Marcus walked upright with his hastile in his hand, which showed his rank of Optio. He'd heard that his friend and Centurion Artorius had been given new orders. He hoped that it would involve some action.
Ever since he'd left Rome he longed for battle, combat and glory. He wanted to shine, to shine like his father. "What new Artorius?" Marcus asked when he noticed his friend. "Tell me it's good news."

Artouius shook his head wearily and donned his helmet "I'm afraid not. Boudicca of the Iceni has saged a rebellion. She moves every day closer to our borders. Her Celts have already destroyed several northern towns. We're paying for our misdeeds. We've been ordered to head noth and guard the border. Tell the men to mobilise." he said.

"I will" Marcus answered, satisfied with the news he had heard. "Those rebells will pay for their insolence." He turned back to Artorius. "But my friend, you look concerned. Lets go to my tent." He gestured to his tent and invited the Centurion in.
---------------------
Levi looked around him in mere wonder. After their ship had docked and Levi had gasped for air when he came above deck, for his troop was resided in the lowest thus filthiest part of the ship, and all colors seemed to be eye blinding outside. But now after a long day march it came to him that this land was different from Rome or Judea. The sky wasn’t blue but grey like a winter’s night. Everything around him, the grass, the sand, all colors seemed to be grey. And there wasn’t the exhausting heat he was used to in Rome; with the cool breeze it actually felt kind of chilly in his simple tunic.
One...two…three…one…two…three Levi smirked. They almost looked like an orderly legion, marching two by two in the same pace. Except that they were anything like that. Most of his troop, or auxiliary forces was the term their trainer and centurion Cassius liked to call them, were a band of slaves who were forced to sign for the army to support the great Roman army. Some peasants from the provinces had joined them later on and they had a good week of training before they left off. A waste of time anyway had Cassius sneered for their discipline was bad and their quality of fighting even worse.
They stopped on the top of a hill and gazed over a huge camp of more than thousands of tents. Rows and rows of tents: all placed as if symmetric and a wooden barricade as walls around it. As they approached the enormous camp the Centurion Cassius motioned them to halt. Cassius stepped in front of his troops and shouted: “Listen! You will now be appointed to different legions and Centurions. Whatever use you can be for them I shall never know for this is the most miserable legion Rome has ever seen. Only a certain death awaits you on these fields out there.” He laughed and read out the list where they would be assigned.
A few moments later Levi walked through this huge camp. He asked a soldier where to find Centurion Artorius. The soldier’s eyes rested for a moment on his arm on which a black number was marked. The mark of a slave. The man pointed him the way but Levi read the contempt in the man’s eyes. Levi wished that he could scratch it away but it had been burnt deep in his skin. He had been labelled like a piece of meat.
Eventually he found that his Centurion was in the tent of his Optio. Reluctantly he went in, coughing to get the attention, eyes fixed on the ground. “Centurion Lucius Artorius Britannia? Reporting for duty, sir”
