Kathryn drew in a steadying breath, still a bit hesitant. "Alright," she said as she took a few steps toward the passage way. Reaching forward she took Don's hand, glad that she was not going into this place alone.

Don grasped her hand, and pulled her genlty into the passage way. When they were a few steps away from the door, it slammed shut behind them, leaving them with only the dim light ahead of them.

"Now there's no place to go but forward," he said, his usual light hearted, joking self gone for the moment...

Matt ran over to his dorm room and changed in jeans and t-shirt. He didn't feel like taking lessons today anyway.
After this half-a-minute-change he wanted to race back downstairs but stopped. He had to wait for Larain first probably otherwise she would start to nag about that later. He started pacing down the corridor which leaded to the girls dorms pulling his why-do-girls-have-to-be-so-slow face.

Larain ran to her dorm room, and tore off her cloths. She pulled on a skirt and a an old tank top, the first things she could find, and shouldered her jacket. Larain let her hair out of it's braid just by taking out the holder, to let it dry faster, and dashed out of her room.

She trounded a corner, and found Matt headed towards the girl's dorm. Larain stopped abrutly. Why was he headed where she came from? She was almost getting the idea that he wanted to stick with her, but she chose not to say anything.

"Well, lets go," Larain said, starting off in the direction they needed to go to meet Kira and Jared...

John chuckled at the mention of "star student" before saying, "Well, I felt like taking a shortcut so I jumped from a window and landed on the window directly under it. Turned out to be her classroom. She got mad and dragged me to the headmaster, lecturing as she did. Then the fire sprinklers went off and I just ran."

I was cured all right.

"Well the girls are getting more social these days.." Matt commented. "Or you must be just mere concentrated.." He started to whistle while walking down the hallways, chuckling now and then when a grumbling teacher passed by all soaking wet.

"Oh how I would love to see Mrs Allan's face right now." Matt said in a dreamy voice. "It must be priceless."

Everytime a teacher passed by all wet, Larain hurried past, not wanting any suspicion to arrise. When they left the dorm, she slowed down a little, giving her brain time to think. Once they found Kira and Jared, they would need to think of a way to get them away from the teachers. Lets see, a school full of teachers agaisnt a few teens. The odds didn't look promising, but didn't look to bad either. There were a few tricks that the students had up their sleeves that the teachers didn't know about.

Larain hoped that she could use a few of them to their advantage now. Though she had never been in this sort of cituation before. She had never tried to break someone out of detention, and Larain wasn't even sure if it was even possible...

Kathryn turned to look back with a start as the door slammed shut behind them. This was the sort of thing that happened in movies, not real life, she thought to herself, realizing with dismay that they were trapped...unless they managed to find another exit. "Looks to be," she said quietly, hating the gloom of the tunnel.

Don walked forward confidently, his heart beating fast. They came to the bend in the dark hall. Looking around the corner, Don saw a long line of torches lit with flames along a passage that soon passed beyond sight. He continued on slowly, keeping Kathryn's hand in his. Suddenly he stopped, and turned to her.
"Are you sure you want to do this? I dragged you into this, but you don't have to do it. If you take one of these torches, you probably could find a way to open the door from this side. This might be your last chance to turn back," he said, hoping in his heart that she would choose to continue on...

Kathryn glanced at the line of torches and behind her, halfway tempted to take Don up on his offer. She hated this place, it reminded her of some ancient secret passageway concealed within an old tomb, and she was just waiting for traps to spring up at them. But when she glanced at Don again, she could see the determination in his eyes could see that he meant to discover whatever secrets this place held. Moreover, she herself could not deny that she was curious about what they might find. "Yes," she said finally with as much determination as she could muster. "We stick together."

For a moment Don just looked at her. He couldn't see her features all the way in the flickering light, but she looked beautiful, and her golden curls made her look almost like an angel...

Don shook his head mentally, and nodded to Kathry.
"Alright, lets go," he said, and tuned back down the tunnel...

Kathryn nodded, more as a reassurance for herself than anything. Since she had chosen to explore the dimly lit passage, she was glad that it was with Don-there was something about him that helped to allay at least some of her apprehension. As they continued to walk down the tunnel, she could hear the scurrying of tiny feet along the edges of the passageway. Kathryn grimaced inwardly at the sound-she did not need a light to know what they were. "Oh, great, rats..." she muttered to herself.

Don kept his nerves down by closely examining everything around him. There were strange designs on the walls. They looked like the scriblings of some old, lost, and forgotten ancient civilization like the Aztec or something. But Don wasn't sure, because he knew nothing about that.

When he started hearing squeeks and scurries from rats, Don grabbed a torch from off the wall closest to him, and held it out. Maybe if the rats saw the light from the fire, they'd stay back and they wouldn't have a problem. Don didn't care about the rats, but he did it more for Kathryn than anything. He had heard her mumbling about them.

Up ahead, Don could see that the hall turned again in the same direction, and was now starting to descend a little. So now they were going down. With each step, it got a little steeper...

"Thanks." Kathryn told Don as he grabbed a torch to keep the rats at bay. As they walked by, she too noticed the ancient writings on the wall. I wonder what it all means, she thought to herself, partially fascinated that they should find such things here. "Too bad, we can't take a good picture of this," she said. “who knows what we could find out if we had the means to decipher it?” As they rounded the bend, she could feel the ground change below her and she knew at once they were moving downhill. Another room? she wondered as they kept walking.

"Maybe we might get the chance to come here with a camera after and take pictures. It probably says something about an ancient curse to who ever disturbs these halls, and takes these steps. Maybe a few plegues and an early death. Or maybe it's an old story of people dead so long, no one really cares anymore," Don said with a joking shrug, trying to lighten the mood in the tunnel. As if lightening the mood would also lighten up the path for them...

"Right," Kathryn said with a chuckle. "That's how it is, isn't it? If it's not a curse, or some history, than its the waking of some undead buried for hundreds of years. Lovely ideas-don't you think?" she remarked as they continued their downward descent.
