Hermione gave a look around while she walked in the Great Hall for lunch. It was a rather warm october day, and the lessons were still sort of light, since the school year started about a month sooner. She recognized the familiar red heads of the Weasleys at the Gryffindor table and walked towards them, finally sitting between Ron and Ginny.
"Have you heard?" she said, sort of whispering. "There's a rumor going around...they say that the schools of the Triwizard Tournament will arrive tonight!"

Ellie was sitting at the Ravenclaw table, having lunch. As everybody else, she was excited for the arrive of the other schools, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, and for the Triwizard Tournament in general. She was 17, so she could join, but she didn't think she would have really joined.
Ellie remembered some terrible stories about the previous Triwizard Tournaments.
Ellie saw Will, one of the other Raveclaws guys she used to have lunch with, walking in the Great Hall and raised her hand to say hi to him. Having lunch by herself was pretty annoying, actually.

Ophelia sat at the Ravenclaw table, prodding a sandwich ineffectually which looked like it might be made with cheese. She sighed and pushed back her plate, moving her gaze to her perfectly manicured fingernails. She usually sat by herself during meals and didn't talk to many people. Her mind was usually on other matters rather than the people around her. Though sometimes she suspected it might just be nice to have company once in a while.

Ron looked at Hermione. "Tonight? Blimey...What schools come again?" He asked, stuffing a fnger sandwhich in his mouth.

From across the table, Neville looked almost sad. "I still wish we could join. Not that I would...but, you know." Then his mood uplifted. "My gran once said that her papa was in the tournament! He lost, of course, but still, he was in it!"

Sam sat across from his sister, Tiffany. Talking to the people around him about the tournament, life seemed good.

"Durmstrang and Beauxbatons, Ron" Hermione said, raising her eyebrows in a annoyed way.
"My gran once said that her papa was in the tournament! He lost, of course, but still, he was in it!" Neville said from across the table.
"Really?" Hermione asked, smiling back at Neville "Well I think it's a good thing that we can't join. I think that most of us don't understand how dangerous it really is" she said.

Ellie saw Ophelia sitting a few chairs away from her. They weren't really friends, but she was sitting alone, and some company was always better than nothing.
"Ehi Ophelia" she said, smiling "How's that sandwich?" she added, since Ophelia was looking with disgust on her face to her plate.

Ophelia looked towards Ellie. She smiled. "Absolutely disgusting," she replied, raising a slim eyebrow. She picked up a copy of The Daily Prophet and opened it. She looked over the top. "Don't you always find that the school only really provides edible food on special occasions?" She shook her head, light blonde hair shivering.

Shouldering his bookbag to lessen the pull of the books and other things inside, Jared - though most knew him as Will - slowed upon entering the Great Hall, giving a cursory look around. He paid no mind to the Slytherin table, looked up and down Gryffindor - long enough to locate his twin, Madison, sitting alone for the moment - then looked to his own table. Someone had raised a hand, he noticed..Ellie, he recalled her name as being. She was sitting alone, he also noted, until she noticed another girl a short ways down the table and walked over to her. Not alone after all. Shrugging slightly, he went to the table anyway and found a seat about halfway down, setting his bag down beside him and immediately working on food - he was really hungry.

And there he goes.. Running a hand through her hair, Madison turned to watch her brother's passage across the hall to the Ravenclaw table, where he stopped to talk to a girl - whose name eluded her. That was all she noticed, though, shrugging and returning her attention to her food and reading - the food was a secondary priority, apparently, the way she pushed her fork around and played idly with the items on the plate. Whatever book she had off to the side and was scanning was obviously demanding her attention.

Ron took a sip of pumpkin juice. "Well Hermione, some people want that dangerous risk!" Ron said. He saw her look and frowned. "I wouldn't join anyway." He said quickly.

"I'm not so sure you guys wouldn't join" Hermione said "You're always looking for some dangerous and stupid occasion to show how brave you are" she added, smiling though.
"Anyway, I'm really curious about this other magic schools. I mean, I've always thought that Hogwarts was THE magic school.."she started saying, without realizing that she started to sound pretty boring.

Ellie laughted "Maybe" she said "At least tonight is going to be a special occasion. Have you heard about the other schools? For the Triwizard Tournament..."

Ophelia folded up the newspaper, finding nothing interesting to read. "Yes, I heard that," she replied. "Everyone's getting pretty excited about it." Another lift of her slender eyebrows indicated that she, for one, was not. "I heard this year the tournament is going to be especially gruelling."

Ron rolled his eyes. "Like you aren't trying to look for something to make you look smart." He smiled though. "Yeah, I've been wondering that too, you know. "Surprised looks. "No, really! I mean, Hogwarts has always been here, and I've never imagined any different schools. I thought we were the magic kids."

Mass chaos ensued near the end of the History of Magic class. Naturally, Fred was not one to miss out on a bit of chaos. Flicking his wand, he sent a stack of parchments flying into the back of Angelina's head. "Mind yourself, Angelina!" He called - unforunately just a bit too late. Fred snickered to himself. And was cut short when a glass of water threw itself into his face. The entire class spilled out of the room, laughing and talking excitedly about the tournament, while poor Professor Binns sat at his chair and still attempted to teach.

Fred bounded into the Great Hall and slid into a seat near his kid brother, Ron. "You're a magical kid, Ron?" he queried. "I always thought there was something out of the ordinary about you. Little did I know!" Forgetting to torment his brother at the sight of food, Fred began piling his plate high with anything in reach. "You know, it really isn't fair that you have to be seventeen to enter," he continued with a full mouth. "Bloody rubbish. We've passed classes. We can do magic. And honestly, is anyone really going to die?" He ended with a snort, then rolled his eyes at the sight of Hermione's face. "Come on Hermione, will anything really happen now? That's why they've reinstated it. Because it's safer."

Ginny walked into the Great hall, her bag hanging loosly on her shoulder. SHe looked around the Hall, looking at all the tables in turn before smiling widely and walking over to join the other Gryffindors. She sat down and pulled the nearest plate of food towards her and began to eat quietly, lisening to what the others where saying. When she finished she said, "Of course theres other schools Ron, Hogwarts is the main one and probably the best one but there are other schools out there, hidden away like hogwarts."

"The fact that the reinstated it doesn't mean that it's safer, Fred!" Hermione said "People died during that tournament! Why do you think they suspended it?" she paused for a moment, drinking a sip of water.
"Anyway" she continued "there must be a reason if it's forbidden to enter if you're not seventeen, and the reason is: if you're not seventeen, you're not able to pass the trials. So take off your mind any weird plan. By the way, where's George? It's almost impossible to see you two separated..."she added, silently raising a hand to say hi to Ginny that joined them at the table.
