Wow... you put it in perfect words what I think of her as well. As you said, she's not perfect for any standard, for pirates or the 'high society', and exactly that I like in her, it makes her seem human indeed.
She tries to do the right things, even if it means that she has to do something wrong, just to manage doing the right thing, as in for example killing Jack, and so saving the crew, especially Will.

As topic in movies and other kinds of stories, quite surely. The adventure is never far away when pirates are around, and romance when women like Elizabeth are there as well.

That is quite true. POTC combines those two elements perfectly together which is a hard feat to pull off. And it is largely accomplished by Elizabeth because she represents both adventure and romance.

Well, with Jack they have the humor as well, it's just everything you need in this movie. That's the key I believe to why it was so successfull. And Elizabeth surely had a key role in it.

lol Now you just need to develop all three of these elements and you are a pirate for yourself...
Then you need to steal a ship, hire a crew, and set sail for... wherever you want to go to... saving Elizabeth maybe.

Yep, I keep this dream as well, it must be a wonderful feeling, just as Jack said, freedom. But it won't fit with our western lifestyle, right?

A wonderful dream indeed. Just to be sailing on the open seas nothing holding you back would be awesome.
Yeah probably not. We are too far from the ocean to harbor any realistic dreams about sailing away on it.

I'm just imagining how it would feel like, standing aboard of your own ship, floating through the oceans, just water to see, no land, although you know exactly where you are and where you are travelling to so that you simply can't get lost with those nautical maps you own... well... just sailing, with only in company of your crew...
But our society nowadays has somehow turned too bureaucratical to make this happen. You need licences and no idea what all before you even can sail, it's no true freedom.

Yeah that is an awesome thought. It would be nice to experience that true freedom just once.
You are right. True freedom died about one hundred years ago, and ever since then people have thought they are free, but really are not.

Well, maybe just the meaning of freedom shifted... Before it was being responsible for only himself or herself, not having to care for other people, but being free in doing what one truly wishes for... or what they think is the right thing to do, they are free in choosing their actions.
Nowadays, there are particular standards we are trained to follow already as small children, so no one dares to work against these standards... and freedom is found only inside these standards it seems.
Wow, I became philosophically now!

I can see that, but I would attribute the shifting of the meaning of freedom to the gradual loss of freedoms. People have slowly given up some of their freedoms over the years, but at the same time been told that they are still free. This leads to people believing they are free even when in fact they are not, which would cause a shift in the meaning of freedom.
Haha, I guess we both became a little philosophical there.

Yeah, I believe you're right there... freedom isn't what it once was, out of whatever reasons... sometimes I wish myself back for about 200 years, some things would have been far easier at that time... oh well...
We two philosophers!
Back to Elizabeth!

Yep some things certainly would have been easier, but I guess at the same time other things would have made life more difficult, so it is kind of a tradeoff.
So what movie was Elizabeth your favorite in?
