Galadriel must have been very strong in will, because she was the last of the Noldor. She must have woried that she could not go into Valinor, because of Feanor's choice. She was only alowed into Valinor because of her long opposition of Sauron!

Galadriel is my favourite character, I don't really know why. She's the second most powerful Elf in the history of Arda. She is a Ringbearer (of Nenya, that is), she is just a cool character.
My first impression? Well, I liked her in the movies and in the books she is a lot better. I did not think she was evil (I watched the Fellowship of the Ring with a friend who had already read the books, so he explained some things to me). She is a very powerful and great character, in both books and movies.

Quote: After reading The Silmarillion, I could never see Galadriel as evil... though she MAY have been part of the kinslayings... hm *ponders* I think that was because she was not just any ordinary elf. Her father use to call her Nerwen which means man maiden. Quote: is ment to be a white light from nemya and the stars right?
Yes, that's right it was a white light that issued from Nenya. And only those wide enough and the ringbearers can see Nenya.
Yes, it was mostly her fear of not being able to return to Valinor because of the Kinslaying.

Hey, hey, hey, wait a second, there are a lot of things I need to get straight here!
First of all I didn't know that only ringbearers or the 'wise' could physically see the rings (like Nenya), so thank you for telling!
How much involved in the kinslaying was Galadriel? It's been a while since I read the Sil. and I don't quite recall the part Galadriel played in this. As far as I (want to!) remember she disapproved of the Oath of Fëanor and his sons and took off with her people to settle down in Lothlórien. The fact she is female (though wise and strong) gave her a more withdrawn position in the whole arguing and debating concerning the Oath and I think I was more concerned with keeping up with all the Sons of Fëanor and other elves when I read it!
Third, what's it about Galadriel not sure if she'll be let into the West?
All of the Firstborns are granted a free boatride to the Undying Lands, some might not wanna go but they still have the choice, right?
I thought that Galadriel stayed in Lothlórien because of her love for Middle-earth (well, maybe more of her love for Lothlórien which she made into a beautiful blooming place unsing the powers of Nenya), and because she realized the threat from Sauron and knew she had to withstand and help fighting him.
Looking forward to your comments on this!

Since Galadriel took part in the kinslaying she was along with the others that did was not allowed to return to Valinor and had to stay in Middle-earth till the bane was lifted. Maybe that means she did fight...
Yes, they all have the choice, unless they are not allowed or have changed their fate like Arwen and her brothers.
Yes, I think Galadriel stayed for the love of Lorien because during the mirror scene she tellsw Frodo that the love of the elves for their works is deeper than the deeps of the sea and can never be whole assuged. She love Middle-earth as well because she wants to defeat Sauron just as much as everyone else but she doesn't want to leave her work as well. Also, she says that either way it is a bad outcome for the elves because if Sauron rise to power the they are layed bare to the enemy and if Frodo succeds, their power is diminished and the will have to pass into the West or dwindle to a rustic folk of dell and cave. Slowly to forget and be forgotten. Since they have to pass into the west, she may be saddened by this because she can't go because of the ban. But the bane was lifted because of her wisdom of refusing the One Ring.

That's all true I guess. She's so wise - I'm glad that Tolkien put her in as one of the powerful ones because it shows that women can also gain a lot of power and wisdom. But naturally, she may be though of evil at the beginning of the story, but near the end, you'll see that she is so not evil. She's good and kind-hearted.
