Just got back from seeing the midnight premiere of TDK. It's 4 in the morning, but I totally can't sleep. All the words coming to my head, other than amazing, to describe this movie would be editted for sure. I'll have much more to say later today when I'm less tired, but for now... Hats off to Heath Ledger for making such a dynamic character come to life. He really stole the show.
Why so serious?

I second that. This film has actually snuck up on me, I didn't realise it came out so soon. It makes a refreshing to change to be only one week behind America... it's usually weeks or months....

Oo, I completely forgot about Christian Bale! He was equally as amazing, but still Heath was superb. I mean, he was psycotic and yet funny and you could almost pity him if he didn't keep changing his story. I don't want to give away too much...

^ How can you forget about Christian Bale, Lar?????
Went to the midnight showing. Dunno, went in really really wanting to like it, but I don't know if saying I "liked" it is very accurate. It was technically almost flawless, but I left the theater feeling thoroughly depressed I'm not going to say it wasn't a good movie, because it was brilliant, but it was painful to watch. I love that they've chosen to make the movies as realistic as possible (as realistic as it is to have a guy running around in a bat suit ), but what's great about superhero movies is that they're usually uplifting in a way, making you believe in heroes. DK was pretty much the opposite of uplifting. I was so frustrated at how unappreciated Batman was and how he had to put up with so much hatred. I guess you could say the movie succeeded if it made me care that much about a character, but still. Also - did NOT like Maggie Gyllenhaal. I didn't mind Katie Holmes, actually, and I felt no connection between Bruce/Rachel or Rachel/Alfred in this one.
Meh.
I wanted more Bruce Wayne screen time (ok, I'm a CB fangirl). A little more humor. More superhero stunts (like the scenes in Hong Kong). Less Joker screen time, even though Heath was disturbingly amazing (it's called The Dark Knight, not The Dark Joker...and I felt like the Joker was the center of the film). And although I didn't expect Liam Neeson to pull a Gandalf, I still missed him.

I just saw it!!!! I will now talk about it! YAY!
They show a lot of Batman, but not very much of Bruce Wayne. I do wish they showed more of him, rather than all the stuff with the Joker.I didn't really like the way Rachel related to Bruce or Alfred either, but I really like her performance with Dent much better than anything in Begins.

I don't know why everyone hated Katie Holmes in BB o.O She was a little flat at times, but she had a sweetness about her that seemed really good for Bruce. Maggie G. didn't have that at all...she was kind of arrogant and saucy, and not in a good way. If they were going to invent a character just for the movies, they should have at least kept the character consistent. Just because they changed actresses didn't make it logical to completely change Rachel's personality, too.
Didn't like Harvey Dent at all. Not in the beginning, not in the end. I know he's supposed to be the shining "white knight" and all, but he kind of reminded me of the prince in Enchanted. I.e., phony and obnoxious.
I've decided that the only way I can keep from moping about and being depressed over the movie is to remember that even though Gotham may start hating Batman, I still love him <3

I'll admit, I'm a terrible Batman fan. I've only ever seen the beginning of BB and was completely unimpressed. I suppose I'll have to watch it since I loved TDK so much.
Now that I'm thinking back it is true that Christian Bale doesn't get a lot of screen time. That's sort of depressing. But, I still love The Joker better. He was chillingly good. I seriously had gooseflesh from the time I walked out of the cinema til I got home. *shivers*
Ugh. Harvey Dent's story was blah. His relationship with Rachel was fake and his turn to evil was over the top. It was actually sort of irritating.
Aww, I know what you mean, Arweb! Poor Batman... it sucks that Gotham starts hating him. I didn't even expect that at all to be honest. It completely goes against the concept of him being a superhero.
Oo, what did all of you think of Gary Oldman? *swoon* Absolutely fantastic! When he came back I swear the whole theatre made one collective gasp. It was awesome.

~sort of spoilers~
When Gordon's wife slapped him, it was exactly how I and pretty much everyone else in the theater were feeling--"how could you do that to us? we were scared to death!"
I'm still blown away by how they made Two-face! Technically, it was PERFECT, it looked just like the comic book. And you keep thinking, "yeah right, like that can happen to someone's face but he didn't die" but it blends in so nicely with Aaron Eckhart's face, I couldn't really complain. (Okay, I'm not even sure what I'm trying to say )

^ Yes, that's what I mean! If I'd been his wife I would've slapped him too. Giving us scares like that! For shame... *shakes head*
Meh.. I didn't know much about the whole Two Face thing and to be honest I was sort of ticked about it really. It seemed like such an unnecessary evil to add to the mix.
