I would have slapped Gordon too xD But Gary Oldman was amazing.

I agree Lar, I didn't much like the Two-Face thing. I didn't think it seemed really credible that he'd snap so thoroughly, and I wanted to know exactly why he'd been called Two-Face before the accident, if he was such a white knight :erm: Or did I miss something? And I think they went a liiiiiittle over the top on the scarring. It was too grotesque to look realistic enough to be horrific, if that makes sense. It reminded of me an undead Captain Barbossa :p And exactly how did he manage to speak normally with the entire side of his face hanging open?

Oh and Lar, you HAVE to see BB! A lot of people probably won't agree with me, but I liked it better than TDK. It didn't have quite the intensity of TDK, but it was such a great mix of dark and entertaining at the same time. TDK kind of...um...missed the "entertaining" part for most of the movie, imo. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but just makes it harder to watch. Besides, BB had Liam Neeson, which automatically makes it cool.

Aww, poor Gordan. He would've certainly been beat up quite badly... :P

Seriously, his relationship with Rachel didn't seem plausible enough to begin with to make him snap so over her death. It was silly to be honest. I was about ready to throw up my hands and say "Come on, we've already got one bad guy, isn't that enough?!" It was sort of gross, but also too faux pas for my taste. So yeah, Two Face was really meh and I think we could've done without him. :P

I looove Liam Neeson! :teehee: Now that it's gotten such good feedback I suppose I'll have to watch it. You've all got me convinced.

Well I don't quite know about Two-Face yet, but character-wise I think he's pretty cool from what I know of him.

And for there being too many bad guys.... Spiderman 3 had 3 for a time. :P And let's face it, seen as how whether they wanted the Joker back again or not, they are now without a villain... but having Two-Face is the perfect way to introduce him again for the next film.... if he's still alive by the end of this one... I'm just guessing. ;)

So, I saw the film on Friday night.

:swoon:

:notworthy:

:swoon:

Getting the tickets that day was an adventure in itself. Quite amusing actually. Speeding through lunch rush hour traffic on my lunch break and running up to the register in my work uniform was all quite hilarious! :P But I didn't care. The only thing I cared and thought about the entire day was the movie. ;)

First word out of my mouth once the credits started rolling? "WOW."

:notworthy:

My jaw was on the floor the entire film. I was also a giggling, giddy maniac the WHOLE time. Seriously, there are a few number of films that can actually have me that giddy the entire time. :P Everything about it was just perfect for me. I for one, enjoyed Maggie's performance. It was a little underdeveloped and rushed methinks. But I enjoyed it. :)

And HARVEY! Me loved him. His face at the end was a bit ... I was just kind of like WHOA. I know what you mean about it being grotesque and too realistic, Arweb. I can't really explain it. :P His turn around was a bit fast, but I didn't mind.

Now. HEATH'S performance. :swoon: I was in a weird confused state the whole time. I was just in awe and shock but really giddy and had this ridiculous grin across my face EVERY time he was on screen. He just OWNED this film AND the Joker. :notworthy: I don't think I'll EVER get the image of him in that nurse's DRESS out of my head! It was BRILLIANT!!! And then when he was walking away from the hospital!!! :notworthy: Pretty much, I thought he was pure and utter brilliance. Perfection.

Christian OBVIOUSLY was brilliant. I am SO glad that he's Batman. Because you know what? I'm a HUUUUGE Batman fan. I have been for as long as I can remember. And he IS Batman. I WAS sad that there was so little Bruce Wayne in this...because I loooove just staring at Mr. Bale. XD But whatever. It was still one of the best movies I've seen in a LOOOONG time. I did like that he got so worked up over Rachel. I dunno, something about that moment really touched me. Broke my heart too. Men should not cry and be sad like that. Especially when they are THAT good looking. ;)

It was all very sad that Batman took all the blame. But that's what I love so much about the character of Batman! :D Noble in a realistic way. :P Gordon's little speech at the end = <3 I just wanted to hug Batman AND Gordon at the end. And in my bizarre twisted morbid way...I wanted to give the Joker a hug too. Because he was just WAAY too awesome to not be appreciated for being so damn clever. :vampire:

Larael wrote:
Oo, what did all of you think of Gary Oldman? *swoon* Absolutely fantastic! When he came back I swear the whole theatre made one collective gasp. It was awesome.

So, understand that I loved everyone in this movie. All the performances were top notch. But I have to say, I was SOOOO invested in Gary Oldman's performance it's kind of creepy. :P He OWNS. And I fangirl and fawn over him probably a lot more than I should. ;) When he came back, the WHOLE theate just kind of let out a collective GASP and then wee cheer of excitement. And I just kind of went *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* And giggled maniacally. I probably would've slapped him too. YAY GORDON! *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* Harvey is SOOO not the white knight...uncorrupitble one. It's FRAKKING GORDON. :bones: His whole scene at the end with Dent just had me on the edge of the seat, not breathing, FREAKING out. Gary Oldman just needs to stop being so awesomely awesome in everything he does.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. This film was WAAAY too brilliant for it's own good. :P Now I MUST see it again. AND in IMAX. I mean it was phenomenal in just a REGULAR theatre...I couldn't even imagine what it would be like in an IMAX. :swoon: I probably would die the happiest Batman fangirl on Earth. XD Hmmm...now how do I get to West Yellowstone??? *plots*

^Yesss you agree with me. Two-Face was cool. I think he's necessary for the balance of evils. While the Joker's evil stemmed from insanity, Two-Face's evil stemmed from perversion of a very strong and usually positive emotion - love. He represented the downfall of the average, sane man. It's deliciously ironic how he, the "white knight," fell so far while the other ordinary citizens pulled through.

And if there's any skepticism over his relationship with Rachel, I blame Maggie Gyllenhaal. Something about her acting irritated me the entire film. I agree with Arweb on this.

Anyway, TDK is the epitome of awesomeness. BB was amazing, but this one completely won me over. Especially the end. My jaw was hanging open the entire last half hour. Somewhere in there I randomly decided to check my pulse, and uh... yeah. Minor heart attack.

Yeah, but even then, it felt like too many.

For some reason, the girls in superhero movies are never quite as good as we want them to be...I still say Gyllenhaal is a good actress, but since she looks (and acts) NOTHING like Holmes, no matter what they called her, it didn't seem to click with the Rachel from Begins. So you now you don't really believe in her relationship with Bruce. Also, she looks REALLY old.

How'd you guys like the music in this movie?

Well, Ms JF has good reason for dubbing me Lady Of The Yellow Faces. ;)

And I never thought there were too many "villians." No way. Of course, I think that EVERYTHING about this film is PERFECT. Sooo, I may be a bit biased. ;) But still.

As for Maggie, she was never trying to impersonate Katie. She just took the character on as her own, as if it was the first time we'd met Rachel. And props to her for that. That's how it should be done. And I guess I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed her. :P I wish she had played Rachel back in Batman Begins. My only complaint with this Rachel was that there was so little of her, and it was rather rushed. *shrugs* But I still enjoyed Maggie as Rachel. :D

OHHHHH the music! :swoon: :notworthy: :swoon:

I have to go buy the soundtrack. (Except I'm broke :duh:) Utterly brilliant. And I really loved the fact that it hardly strayed from the Batman Begins soundtrack. :) YAY! MUST BUY!

MMMMMMMM. I NEEEEEEEEEEEED to see this film again. Several times in fact. XD Last time I saw a movie in theatres multiple times was LOTR. :P Now THAT is a sign that this movie is an EPIC WIN.

I've listened to The Dark Knight soundtrack and it actually sounds really different to the Batman Begins soundtrack. Those heroically prolonged 2 notes that were a main theme in Begins is only faintly heard and very rarely. There's a whole huge song for the Joker and themes for Dent.

How many titles do you have? Queen of Madness, Lady of the Yellow Faces...

OK, here's my little thing on The Dark Knight.

******* AWESOME!!!!!!!

The Joker was just phenomenal! I did not expect to see him appear THAT early in the film. But he was ******** brilliant! It looked like Heath completely devoted himself into that role and the end result is had I not known that was Heath, I would have wondered who played him, because I really can't fathom anyone being into the Joker that well.

Some of the things that just freaked me out in the movie:
The school bus smashing into the bank during the robbery
His disappearing pencil trick (OK, who jumped when they saw that? It was just like WHOA! and then people started to clap.)
The scene where he pretends he was dead so he could kill that mobster
The scene where you see the judge and the Commissioner get killed (The suspense was built up nicely. I nearly had a heart attack when the judge opened her "directions" and it said "Up")
The scene where they find the bomb in that guy's stomach and the Joker blows it.
Actually, any of the scenes where explosions were involved. (I just love how Christopher Nolan built up the suspense leading towards that scene)
Harvey revealing his burned and destroyed face. That was just "Oh my god.."

Christian Bale, once again, did an excellent job as Bruce Wayne/Batman. I just loved the part where he was sleeping through the board meeting and when Alfred and Bruce are closing up the "Bat Lair" and they have this dialogue.

Alfred Pennyworth: I suppose they will lock me up, too, as your accomplice.
Bruce Wayne: Accomplice? I'm gonna tell them the whole thing was your idea.

It was nice comic relief in an otherwise really really dark film. And I thought the Prestige was dark.

Seriously, though. The director has a really good future ahead of him. In all of his films that I've seen, the ending always leaves me utterly frozen for five minutes.

I just watched it again last night and was in utter awe all over again. :teehee: At least I could hear what Gordon was saying at the end this time. The first time the music was playing so loud it completely drowned out his voice.

Aaand, I watched Batman Begins last night as well! I watched it after TDK, so it wasn't in the right order, but it was still well worth my time. I wish Katie Holmes had been in TDK... she was really good in BB. :( But yeah, BB was not at all how I expected it to be.

@ Caunion: Do they give out honourary Oscars or anything like that? If they do Heath should totally get one. He was absolutely amazing. God, his laugh was probably the best thing I loved about him, and his psycotic sense of humour.

The pencil magic trick was the most bad*** thing I think they could've done for the Joker's first real scene. Watching it the second time I finally figured out which clown the Joker was at the beginning during the bank robbery. I was confused the first time, but I think I followed it a lot better this time 'round.

I think they're thinking of giving Heath a posthumous Academy Award nomination. That's a maybe though. But it is likely looking at the public and critical reaction to his acting.

When I saw that I gasped, felt horrified, paused, laughed [is that creepy?], then felt guilty for thinking that was funny...same with the bombed hospital... =(

I jumped A LOT. At the bus-smashing-through-the-bank, the pretending-to-be-dead bit, and any time they said something quiet, then SHOUTED IT again: "What did they used to call me at the old department? Say it...SAY IT!!!!"

Can someone explain why the judge's note said "Up"? And what was with the guy in the bank with the shotgun in the first scene?--I know there were a lot of them, but the one who questioned how the Joker thought he could get away with it. Was he part of the plan? [Anyone else terrified when the Joker put that in his mouth? I had no idea what that was and was so scared it would explode.]

I watched it yesterday with the intellectually disabled kids we were supporting... which was a bad idea because the individual that I supporting was cackling like a mad person during all the violent parts and it was just *beep* creepy because nobody else was even close to laughing.
It was a really good film though I personally didn't like it very much.
